Feng laughed at the Chancellor's remarks. She hadn't expected the High Republic Chancellor to be this independent and funny, though she supposed judging by Ayumi she should have known better.

"I quite like the sound of that; Captain Feng Privateer! Avaast ye scoundrel, time to walk the plank!"
Feng grinned and laughed as she splashed about.

"Good I'm glad we won't be planning on entering into any major confrontations. I feel as bodyguard it would be remiss of my duties to allow my charge to head straight long into a fire fight." Feng paused "Come to think of it I think I'd be remiss as your girlfriend as well. After all what kind of girlfriend allows her partner to go into dangerous situations she's not prepared for."

"Don't worry Verity I requisitioned an underwater lightsaber specifically for this mission. I should be able to defend us from any critters that come nosing about."
Feng said this with a certain amount of false confidence, she had never actually engaged in aquatic combat before, but then how hard could it be?

Aiden looked ahead, at what was obstructing their path, and he could help but smirk. And at one point a small laugh escaped him. He looked over towards RG and the co-pilot as they exchanged words back and forth. Aiden took a small steop forward, not towards them, but to get a better view of the creatures. The Jedi Knight's force aura reached out, sensing them, what was going on. Nothing crazy important, he didn't sense any sort of hesitation or fear. Just nerfs, doing what they did.

"I'm going to take a closer look. I agree with Regal, there is no rush. Yet I don't fancy sitting up here just waiting." Aiden opted to remove himself from the vessel, leaping down and hitting the ground with a soft landing.

He took a deep steady breath, placed his hands behind his back and he began to walk forward. They were still a ways ahead.

A walk wouldn't hurt anyone.

The Jedi wanted to go have a look. Sounds like fun, after all Regal had never been that close to one Nerf, let alone a herd of them. It would be a nice change of pace from the usual sitting and watching.

Wait up. I’ll go with you.

Taking his rifle from the weapons closet and his helmet, Regal nodded to the pilots and went to make way for the hatch.

“Is all of this really necessary, sir?”

Regal just grinned. Maybe not, but I’d rather get admonished for something like this than for running them over.

“That’s fair…”

“... this is still stupid.” The co-pilot looked back, clearly not liking the command decision.

Noted

Jumping down from the hatch, Regal looked around and jogged up to Porte. Alright, what do we need? Regal surveyed the area, ensuring the route was safe and the perimeter was clear. Porte pointed out the key locations for patrol, and they coordinated their approach. Despite the co-pilot's skepticism, the mission proceeded smoothly, blending caution with the occasional humor of handling nervous Nerf herders.

MISSION SUMMARY
Unit:
17th Column Forward Group
Vehicle Designation: Heavy Walker "Crownbreaker"
Reporting Officer: RG-11 "Regal"
Attached Personnel: Jedi Knight Aiden Porte
Mission Status: Halt Maintained / External Inspection Conducted / Wildlife Unharmed

Following the emergency halt ordered to avoid disturbing a nerf herd and its calves, Jedi Knight Aiden Porte requested permission to conduct a closer inspection of the area. Request was approved, with the understanding that any movement outside the walker would be treated as a field action, regardless of the apparent lack of hostile contact.

RG-11 accompanied Knight Porte personally, equipping standard field armor, helmet, and rifle before exiting "Crownbreaker." The decision was questioned by bridge personnel, who noted that the situation did not appear to warrant armed escort.

The reporting officer clarified that while additional security measures might prove unnecessary, accepting criticism for excessive caution was preferable to accepting responsibility for avoidable harm, compromised personnel, or an preventable incident involving local wildlife.

The co-pilot registered continued objection to the command decision.

Objection noted.

Upon disembarkation, RG-11 joined Knight Porte near the halted route and assisted in evaluating the surrounding area. Visual checks confirmed no immediate hostile presence, no signs of ambush, and no mechanical hazard along the walker's projected path. Patrol points were identified, movement lanes were reviewed, and the herd's behavior was monitored to ensure no panic response was triggered by personnel presence.

Several nerf herders in the area appeared nervous due to the proximity of the walker and armed personnel. RG-11 maintained a non-threatening posture where possible, kept his weapon controlled and lowered, and allowed Knight Porte to take the lead in any interaction requiring reassurance or diplomacy.

No shots were fired. No animals were injured. No civilians were displaced. No crew members were bitten, trampled, or forced to explain to command why they lost a fight with livestock.

Once the area was confirmed secure and the herd continued clearing the route naturally, RG-11 and Knight Porte returned to "Crownbreaker." The halt remained in effect until the path was completely safe for forward movement.

The inspection confirmed the original command decision as prudent. While the mission remained routine, the situation demonstrated that routine operations still require attention, judgment, and restraint. "Crownbreaker" remained combat-ready throughout the delay, and the 17th Column Forward Group resumed transit without escalation.

"I hope it isn't so safe and remote there isn't time for a photo op, Love," Dominique replied with bemusement. Not that she meant it. Though she did mean it in a way. Other people could do the whole 'altruistic act in the shadows' thing, but a Chancellor needed to be seen doing such things. People started thinking a woman simply ceased to a exist if she wasn't constantly in some holo-feed.

Speaking of which, perhaps there weren't enough scandals or rumors floating about. Maybe that's why Dominique felt like she had to work so hard for exposure. The price of trying to broker deals between the unlikeliest of partners, it seemed. Though some of those partners she had plans for should prove quite the talk of the Republic. Dominique wasn't too worried with that in mind.

Not too worried. Her eyes shifted toward Verity as Ayumi mentioned her name. Surely the woman would understand. After all, her Bill had been regarding the Sith Covenant.

Dominique's brow did lower briefly when Ayumi casually mentioned sharks, however. "You want us to punch a shark in the nose?" Where was the fancy anti-shark drone, or some pheromone that kept them away? Perhaps a sonic scrambler that irritated their aquatic hearing? No breathtaking techno-gadget for the occasion?

Then there was Feng's talk of being a girlfriend. Well, Dominique couldn't say she hadn't known, but to come out and speak of it... she couldn't help but wonder if that was some sort of tactic Ayumi was trying to leverage. On the other hand, the woman simply liked other beautiful women. Hardly ground breaking information.

"An underwater lightsaber? How industrious." Honestly, Dominique had never thought about how Jedi fought underwater. She assumed they used the Force. Perhaps some kind of telepathic, acquatic-animal taming or some such.

Her approach had been made while Isla seemed lost in a vision. Ala's stomach had knotted, watching the young one as she processed the confusion, and pain. There was so much to talk to Isla about, but all of it needed to be in the correct time...and place.

Permitting her masked presence to fully unveil, Ala stepped into Isla's periphery. The tiny woman stood calmly, hands clasped behind her back, and showed a severely diminished exuberance. It would take a little while for her to reclaim her normal comportment.

"I think it would be best you not...be carrying heavy objects right about now, Isla," Ala said, softly. There was no hint of reprimand, nor displeasure in her tone.

She waved her hand towards the man who had just scolded the Padawan. The Force washed over him. "It would be best she not help for this moment. Perhaps she should take a walk...clear her head."

The man's posture stiffened, and his eyes glazed ever so slightly. "Hey...perhaps you should just take a walk and clear your head," he said, clearly talking past Isla.

With a beckoning wave, Ala turned and walked with a meandering pace towards the shoreline.

Ala's presence materialized so suddenly that a sharp gasp escaped Isla's throat. A heavy silence hung around her Master, completely devoid of her usual bubbly warmth. Chit. I'm dead, Isla thought, her stomach dropping into a familiar pit of dread. Her amber eyes darted between Ala and the glazed-over volunteer, watching the seamless, subtle manipulation of the man's mind.

The box thudded against the ground as Isla dropped it without another word. Shuffling her feet, she trailed behind the bouncing mop of curls heading toward the shoreline, the weight of impending judgment heavy on her shoulders. Guilt and anxiety competed for dominance, forcing the truth out before she could stop herself.

"Okay, listen," Isla blurted out to her Master's back, her natural honesty overriding any attempt at coolness. "Whatever you heard is not true. None of it was my fault. I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time."

There was so much they needed to talk about. Ala was not even sure Isla was aware of Lorn's departure from Naboo. In retrospect, Ala had been her defacto caregiver for some time before he left. It had just taken his departure for it to become clear to the Grandmaster.

It all created a deep, and deepening, sadness within her. She was not angry at Lorn, and barely had been. The emotion had passed quickly. As had disappointment. Now she was just so very sad for him. His guilt prevented him from truly embracing his role as father to Isla, and as such...it threatened to destroy Isla too.

The sand, and its many pieces of broken shells, crunched beneath Ala's slow steps. When Isla finally started spilling the beans, Ala simply offered a surprised glance.

"And who, precisely, was responsible for putting you in the wrong place?"

xG52sDd.png

An unusual gravity weighed down her Master's presence, suggesting a burden that went far beyond mere disappointment over a broken rule. Isla remained entirely in the dark about any troubles at home, having spent her recent months buried in classes and friends. Maybe the overwhelming responsibilities of being Grandmaster were finally taking a toll on the normally cheerful woman. Concern flared briefly, but the sharp counter-question forced Isla right back into a defensive posture.

"Someone had stolen something from me," Isla exclaimed, scrambling over the loose sand to keep up with the steady pace. "Uh, my bag! Some thief at a festival. I had to get my belongings back and then everyone took it the wrong way."

Defending her reckless actions felt entirely justified, even if the execution of it all on Ukatis had turned chaotic. Her natural empathy made her sensitive to the shift in Ala's mood, prompting a quick, reassuring grin to break through her anxiety.

"Don't worry though! I smoothed it all over with a little Jedi Magic," Isla said proudly, waving her hand in a dramatic circle to mimic a mind trick.

"Works for me." Aiden spoke with a smile as Regal opted to go with him, as Aiden walked ahead of the walker. "I don't deal with Nerf's on a daily basis, to be quite honoest with you. More so, things of a more sinister nature." The Jedi knight chuckled lightly as he glanced around, memorizing the scenery around him, just for reference as they pushed forward.

"But, I do know, typically creatures that aren't so agressive tend to spook easily. Not that I'm trying to scare them. But just give them a gentle nudge, by showing a presence." Aiden chuckled lightly, as he took a deep breaht. "Oh man, I forgot how much they smell." Aiden whistled, getting their attention, and the movement began, slight at first, but at a more easy pace, not completey vacating the area, but it was a start.

"How long have you been with the army?"

It was really looking to be a nice day outside, definitely not the experience he was expecting or used to. The air was crisp, the sun was shining, and the only sound was the gentle hum of the walker’s engines. The nerfs were grazing peacefully in the distance, and for a moment Regal just wanted to sit back and enjoy the view. Duty called though, and they had supplies to transport.

… and the fact that he was happy that his helmet had an air filter. The smell of nerf dung was something else, apparently. Tapping his helmet he chuckled.

Standard issue, and protocol when out of the walker.

Taking his rifle in hand and holding it up with weapon discipline as he listened to the Jedi’s idea about spooking them. I have a stun setting on this, if I fire it into the air it’s loud. You think that’ll work?

You never know until you ask, right?

When Porte asked him about his time in the military, it caught the clone off guard. All my life. I’m a clone.

MISSION SUMMARY
Unit:
17th Column Forward Group
Vehicle Designation: Heavy Walker "Crownbreaker"
Reporting Officer: RG-11 "Regal"
Attached Personnel: Jedi Knight Aiden Porte
Mission Status: Field Assessment Ongoing / Herd Movement Pending / Air Filtration Appreciated

Following the controlled halt of "Crownbreaker" to allow a nerf herd and its calves to clear the supply route, RG-11 accompanied Jedi Knight Aiden Porte outside the walker for continued field observation. Environmental conditions were clear, visibility was favorable, and no immediate hostile presence was detected.

The surrounding terrain presented no tactical complications beyond the current wildlife obstruction. The nerf herd remained calm and continued grazing at a slow pace, showing no signs of panic, aggression, or rapid movement off the route. While the delay remained inconvenient, the situation continued to favor patience over force.

Personnel operating outside the walker maintained standard safety and field protocols. RG-11 remained helmeted, armed, and alert throughout the inspection. The helmet's integrated filtration system proved beneficial due to significant environmental odor produced by the herd. This is not listed as a combat hazard, but it should not be dismissed by anyone with a functioning nose.

Jedi Knight Porte proposed the possibility of encouraging the herd to move without causing injury. RG-11 offered the use of a rifle stun discharge directed into the air as a potential non-lethal sound deterrent, pending Jedi assessment of whether the action would safely redirect the animals or risk spooking them into a stampede. No shot was fired prior to further consideration.

During the observation, Knight Porte inquired about RG-11's military experience. The question was answered directly. RG-11 has served in military capacity for the entirety of his life as a clone trooper.

No further elaboration was required in the moment, though the exchange was noted as personally significant. Clone personnel are often assessed by designation, training, and function. However, lifelong service does not negate individual judgment, humor, restraint, or personal responsibility. The conduct of this operation continues to demonstrate that RG-11 is not merely following procedure, but actively evaluating the ethical and tactical consequences of command decisions.

The supply mission remains delayed but uncompromised. Cargo is secure, the route is under observation, and "Crownbreaker" remains ready to resume movement once the herd clears or a safe, controlled redirection method is approved.

Final Note: For the record, the helmet stayed on for protocol. The air filter earned a commendation.
