ADVANCED SYSTEMS

Strengths:
  • Heavily Armed: With several weapon systems in pace, the CH-35 Manta Ray is a force to be reckoned with.
  • Take a Beating: Even though it has poor maneuverability it is made to take a few more hits than your average starfighter with better shields and armor.
Weaknesses:
  • Big Target: Big and often brightly colored, the Manta Ray is an easy target to see with a big hit box.
  • Power Draw: Must return to hangar to refuel often in long, drawn out fights.
  • Poor Maneuverability: Size coupled with keeping the gunner's sight lines clear makes the ship difficult to maneuver.
  • It Takes Two: A Co-pilot Gunner is required to make use of the turret and also makes it possible to fluidly switch between the several weapons systems on the ship. Without a co-pilot the ship isn't able to be used to its full potential
Description: Taking design and role cues from both the Needler-Class fighter and the CH-22 Greenstar fighter, the CH-35 "Manta Ray" heavy fighter is a multi-role, two-seater starship. Designed to support a swarm of Needler-Class fighters, the Manta Ray sports a variety of anti-starfighter weaponry as well as a manned laser turret with limited sight ranges. The large starfighter's awkward shape makes it difficult to maneuver, especially when trying to take the gunner and their sight lines in mind. With so many weapons, the Manta Ray also has to return to a hangar more frequently in battles than other starfighters. Its hyperdrive also leaves much to be desired, making it more useful in a system defense role. Despite these drawbacks, its fire power more than makes up for its seeming lack of utility. Few starships have the ability to drain the color from a pilot's face but the eerie effect of the ship's two seismic charges of drawing in all sound and its sheer destructive power to starfighters is.
