ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
  • Heavily Armed - An improvement over its predecessor, the Centurion boasts an increased amount of firepower for a Destroyer-class ship of its size
  • Highly Protected - Carried over from its predecessor, the Centurion has a heavily reinforced hull and multiple layers of shielding
  • Heart of Siaber - The Centurions were built around Siaber Crystals, allowing the ship to have an enormous supply of power to keep all its systems running optimally
Weaknesses:
  • Poor Maneuverability - Due to the heavier armor, the Centurion has extremely poor maneuvering
  • Limited Hanger Space - While it is a step up from its predecessor, the Centurion still has a low squadron count when compared to other Destroyer-class ships
  • Don't Crack the Crystals - If the Siaber Crystals are damaged, they will cause a catastrophic reaction that will, in all likelihood, destroy the ship
Description:

As part of the Aurora project to modernize and replace its stock of ships and technology, the Aurora ship designers began work on the first of their new Destroyer ships to replace the aging Procursator-X Line Destroyer previously made and sold by the company. The design decided that there were several areas improvements could be made on the old ship, although the aesthetic was thrown away, giving birth to the Centurion-class Destroyer.

Working off the previous model, firepower was a major concern, and thus the Aurora engineers gave the Centurion plenty of that. A full complement of heavy and standard turbolasers was added, along with eight of Aurora's new Fornax Long-Range Turbolasers. Ion cannons, torpedo launchers, and quad laser cannons were added on to the ship as well, giving it plenty of versatility. The ship was also designed around a dual-layered hull and armor plating, reinforced, along with molecular shielding with a backup deflector shield system.

All of it is tied into the Siaber Crystals Aurora uses at the heart of the technology, the Centurion being designed around a reactor with a fist size crystal. On top of the power requirements being met, it also left room for Aurora engineers to include a limited size hanger that can hold two squadrons of fighters, a definite improvement over the previous Destroyer, although low when compared to other Destroyer sized vessels.
