Unlike most podraces, this particular one was held after sunset. It was located in the centre of Chasin City. People were able to watch from buildings, the floating airships and from down below at street level. Many barricades had been set up to protect the spectators, as well as the buildings. The track was short, as far as podrace tracks go, but the corners were tight. Ten loops around the course were required in order to complete the race.

As it stood before the race was set to begin, there were four podracers competing:

[member="Lily Kilia"] - New Republic
[member="Stardust Raxis"] - Clan Raxis
[member="Dunames Lopez"] - First Order
[member="Desmond C'artyom"]

The prizes to be won were donated by [member="Daxton Bane"]:

100k credits + co dev for one unique personal alchemical gear of your choice or Daxton's aid in two adventures of your choice.
10k credits + Daxton's aid in one adventure of your choice
1k+ 1 non unique non vehicle item from Red Raven product line.

Daxton's aid may come in the form of indirect support (transport, intelligence, etc.) Or direct support (he would be physically present to aid you regardless of your current allies, etc. He is a wild card after all.)

Kay, her bodyguard [member="Veiere Arenais"] and a few others watched in the larger and more maneuverable of the airships, keeping an eye out for dangers to themselves and the racers. They were also keeping an eye on any cheaters.

People were already placing their bets, each with varying odds, as to who would win, how many podracers would be disqualified and how many people got hurt. There were also odds as to whether or not a podracer would be forced high in the air enough to hit one of the airships. These days it seemed that people would bet on anything....

This was a competition stardust loved, adrenaline pumping risk filled high paced pod racing

The skilled pilot was in her zone, she was suited up in a protective suit, that meaning of the pod did explode she'd maybe survive the fall

She looked to her pod, it was a emerald green color, along the sides it said"twileks delight "she smiled proudly as she got her racing up to the line on the third spot and got in ready

Getting in his apparentment after running some errads and grabbing something from his ship John set up on the balcony over looking the race and could see where [member="Lady Kay"] would be during the race. Settling down with Felix by his side he grabbed the Corellian Ale he had gotten and sat down in a chair he had gotten and got his coat on as he relaxed a little putting a case next to his feet and glancing around at as balcony's started to fill up around him. Smiling a little at the outcome he laughed slightly to himself as he imagined [member="Kei Garnik"] in the suit from the first day with the terrible tie. Almost forgetting he goes back into the apartment throwing some things aside while looking for something, finding it in the living room he grabs the binoculars and gets them set up and looks at Felix.

"Ok buddy, start scanning for any unusual suspects on the ground below or in any of the rooftops. Any person aiming a blaster at Lady, or any of the racers are a high priority, any one else that is just suspicious just give me a heads up. "

Giving a sigh as he put the binoculars to his eyes and began scanning sipping on some of his ale.

Desmond's pod's turbine engines were extremely powerful even by pod racing standards. A special fuel harvested from Malastare would hopefully be enough to give him the added boost he'd need to win the race, but if it wasn't he had a few more tricks up his sleeve. Such as an untested built in turbo engine which would activate when he shifted gears. Seeing as to how it was untested he was a little worried about how the added speed would effect his energy binders. His energy binders were pretty strong, some would even classify them as low level tractor beams, but then again this bike was damn fast and if it reached the speeds Des expected he wondered if they would be enough. Des had the reflexes needed to make the tight turns that they would be banking at over nine hundred km/h. He was after all the fastest gunslinger in the outer rim. But his pod wouldn't just be making these turns around the average pod's speed. It would be going well over that and he'd need near super human strength just to fight the g force he'd be experiencing and not black out. All in all Des wasn't worried a damn bit. This was his element. He had a need for speed that only a spice junkies addiction could rival. He checked his light weight repulsor lift one last time and satisfied everything was in order wheeled his pod onto the track.

His pod's design was one built for least wind resistant and maximum torque. It was all curves that made even the most beautiful women jealous. His pod was painted black and it had a voluptuous Chiss women laying seductively painted on the side. His pod was made up of as many light weight parts as he could manage without it becoming so light it would take off in flight. He parked his pride and joy at the starting line and got down to the business of preparing his own self for the race.

He wore a black duster that was torn and dirty. He liked it's character. He had never washed it before, because he was worried it would wash the luck away and so it adorned many battle scars and stains. Beneath that he wore dura-steel armor. At the speeds they were going to be racing it wouldn't help a bit, but he didn't feel like changing. He had traded his desperado's hat for a pair of googles and his old bandanna, which he usually kept in his back pocket. Having addressed what he was wearing for the race he hopped into his pod with the amount of skill that said he'd done this a thousand times. He activated his ignition and the engine roared to life. Let the race begin.

Dunames podraced twice before: once on Cademimu, where she placed fourth as a drag racer, using her blue-white Gyaban 787, and winning the Lanteeb Grand Prix, which was marred by an attempt on [member="Natasi Fortan"]'s life. But Dunames was nervous, as she was every single time. She knew podraces could injure or even kill podracers. Marianne Kwyjibo, by now the preeminent podracer of the First Order, was nowhere to be found. By now Kwyjibo won several gold-level races: the Malastare 100, the Grabvine Gateway, to name the most recent. If there were 10 laps to it, and most podraces have 3, then the podracing track was about 10 km long at most. Let's hope this track isn't as treacherous as the Grabvine Gateway... she thought, as she got the Gyaban 787 into position. Once that was done, she would be able to get herself in the #1 track on the starting line, hopefully she wouldn't need to fire the weapons.

Darben Skirae brought Mute this time to the podrace. He took seats close to the track itself. Mute seemed very excited to see the race, something that surprised him easily. She was very interested in the third racer, but he paid no mind to any. Not until he got Mute to her seat. He then went off and placed a bet on the third racer, for Mute's sake. A bet of 1,000 credits.

Once done he returned to Mute's side, having brought a small drink for her to enjoy as they waited for the race to start. "You excited?" he asked her. She nodded. He smiled lightly, looking up to the airships. Mute's original idea for their seats were on them. But he didn't feel too secure up high. Down low was much safer in his mind.

The podracer's large turbines roared as Lily sat behind the wheel. Piloting anything was nothing new to her. In fact she felt at home in the cockpit of any vehicle. These roaring crowds however? Those were unfamiliar. Beings milled about in the stands, each making their own bets and guesses at who would win. Lily was gonna do her beat to make sure it was her.

Ten laps on a short track consisting of tight turns at high speeds? Brig it on. thiught the young woman. After all she had piloted X-wings and other starfighters into tight maneuvers at ridiculous speeds. If anything, this would be fun.

Kei missed his jacket, although he was glad he had let his hair down. He'd chosen to go for the "smart casual" look for the podraces, simply a shirt and some plain and simple trousers, nothing spectacular. He missed his jacket though, he'd tried it and it just ruined the "smart casual" look so he'd opted to leave it behind. He'd tied his hair back into a pony tail and tucked his shirt in as well, he was nothing if not presentable. He cracked his knuckles carefully, taking his seat in the stands. He was close enough to [member="Lady Kay"], close enough to sprint up the stairs and into the presidental box if anything were to happen.

Just a shame he only had his blaster. He'd attached it to his belt, hidden in a holster out the way. He couldn't hide his lightsaber anywhere, thus he had to leave it behind as well. Even with all the problems, he was looking forward to the podracing. He enjoyed podracing, it was almost a thrill to watch, someday he wanted to try it. He'd flown the Hawk in some tight spots, plenty of starfighters at breakneck speeds, it would be a thrill, a rush and a thrill.

He missed T3 as well, he'd sent T3 to assit John and Felix. Assist was a strong word really, but he'd be there to listen to orders and scan things, as well as project the races for the smuggler and droid combo. The races were always fun, and they deserved a chance to let there own hair down and watch them, enjoy them, enjoy the races like normal civilians for a change. Kei was, he assumed [member="Ryn'Dhal"] and the other one would keep the president safe. Right?

From his skybox seat, Daxton let a smile creep across his face as he watched the numbers pile on a people placed their bets. While the Ravens had agreed to share the profits from the official betting sites onworld with the local government, the live feed was being sent to over two dozen worlds where off the track betting was under his control. No matter who won in the race, Daxton was going to come out with a nice healthy profit.

Glancing at each of the racers, he wondered which one of them would have the ingenuity and raw talent to take the top prize. True he could simply glance at each of their fate threads to see which one was most likely to win but where was the fun in that? Taking a sip from the sour concoction called a Pina Colada, he awaited for the race to start.

The murmers in the crowd soon turned to hushed tones as the giant screens soon displayed Kay's image. She smiled, looking almost like a giant surveying the tiny crowds at her feet. Her voice was soon heard throughout the city. "Good Evening. Welcome to the Chasin City Circuit. We have with us today, four of the most talented podracers in this side of the Galaxy. For the New Republic we have [member="Lily Kilia"] . For Clan Raxis we have [member="Stardust Raxis"] For the First Order we have [member="Dunames Lopez"] competing. And our final podracer is none other than [member="Desmond C'artyom"] .

There are three large prizes to be awarded to the first three that complete ten laps around the track. If one or neither of you finish, then smaller prizes will be awarded.

There are many tight turns on this track so skill is what will determine the winner, not speed. May your reflexes be keen and your pods reliable. Good luck."

Kay's image was soon replaced by shots of each individual racer, followed by a wide shot of the course taken by one of the airships. Once all of the racers were prepped and ready to go, the countdown began.

3...2...1...START

As soon as the green light appeared in front of her eyes, Lily slammed the throttle forward, her pod shooting from the starting line. The first turn was fast approaching, a sharp ninety degree turn to the left. Pulling on the decellerator the pod pitched and pulled making the turn. As the pod righted itself she pushed the throttle forward again.

Dunames jammed the throttle forward, too, but she had to release it some distance from the first turn because she knew that she couldn't make a hard 90-degree turn at full speed. That's as rough as I imagine the Grabvine Gateway to be, she thought. Compared to this, the Lanteeb Grand Prix was a lot easier as a podracing track. Two 180-degree turns were to later await her, and she knew she couldn't do either at full speed. The First Order people in the assistance cheered when she passed in front of them; then again, she had to be careful not to ram into [member="Lily Kilia"] as she jammed the throttle forward after the 180-degree turn was finished. And also she was to be careful not to run into [member="Stardust Raxis"] or [member="Desmond C'artyom"] regardless of whether their pods were ahead or behind her. She wonders how could Marianne win the Grabvine Gateway with a Madi-Wisc that wasn't the most maneuverable pod in the galaxy... or she used something other than a Madi-Wisc after it crashed on Lanteeb due to a traitor called QRA-1768? Nevertheless Dunames was still able to pilot a podracer despite having spent the last five years piloting mostly capital ships.

Desmond sat in his pod, goggles covering his face. The others seemed scared to go a little fast around a few tight turns, but Des' knew other wise. At the signal of the rally girls the racers were off. It was a small straight to an almost ninety degree turn. Des had seen worse on the Kashyk circuit. Those Wookies are crazy. With that said he hit his accelerator. 2 seconds later and about half way to max speed Des approached the turn. He killed the engine while his pod attempted to perform a slingshot like motion around the U. Inertia had other plans. Des had made it around the first bend, but it looked as if he was going to have a quick date with the the wall. Desmond had to strain for the ignition as the g-force pressed against him. Then a millisecond before Desmond hit the wall his engines came back on. The resulting speed from his accelerator and Isotope fuel countered the Inertia and propelled him forward at even faster speeds. Leaving everyone else in his dust.

Time frame: 2.6 seconds

Stardust gave a smile as her hands tightened, once the go was given she jammed the acceleration forward blasting with the other racers, she focused the force to allow her more focus to detail and control, many many years of piloting many types of craft gave her the advantage she wanted

However that turn came quick but stardust turned on the inner part of the turn away from the wall, she had less distance to turn do to this

She was right behind [member="Desmond C'artyom"] as she admired his little trick, but this pilot wasn't coming in last place at all

[member="Dunames Lopez"]
[member="Lily Kilia"]

[member="Desmond C'artyom"] sped past Lily as he slung himself through the S-turn, [member="Stardust Raxis"] following close behind. The next hundred-eighty degree turn was followed by a straight-away. That was where she could catch the man. Lily killed the forward accelerator as she came around the turn, drifting through the air, her racer angling itself to be able to push forward with little effort. However Lily's timing was just a little off. Pushing the accelerator forward, her pod shot forward again, but too close to the wall. The corner of the wall nicked the aft of the racer, sending the rear carriage in a pendulum like swing. To compensate Lily lifted off the accelerator again, feathering the brake till she got the speeding machine back under control. Hitting the accelerator again she had some catching up to do. Instead of catching up to Raxis, she'd fallen behind, [member="Dunames Lopez"] also passing her. Her early advantage at being at the head of the race had been taken away. Now she'd have to work to not come in last.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Dunames Lopez

Megalomaniac CEO of Star Tours
While Dunames knew that [member="Lily Kilia"] was behind her, she knew she wasn't dead last. Once she was at roughly the same distance as with the first turn, she slowed down and engaged the brakes so as to be taking the 90-degree turn as fast as she safely could. But once the turn was completed, taking it on the inside, she engaged the boost mode as she looks at the chasm below, knowing that she needed to take the chasm with all speed to safely make it down the chasm, breaking the sound barrier in the process. By using the boost she had a good chance of overtaking both [member="Desmond C'artyom"] and [member="Stardust Raxis"] if they haven't already. They will soon know why Dunames has been chosen to represent the First Order. She removes the thrust and slows down as a virtue of having eased up on the accelerator so that she could safely negotiate that S-curve. Then came another rather wide turn; knowing that this is one big staircase, she engages the boost so that gravity won't slow her down as much when climbing uphill.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Lily was just behind [member="Dunames Lopez"], but the racer, whi was on e close, now sped ahead lifting into the air. Gritting her teeth, Lily push the accelerator to full, the ramp fast approaching. The pod racer lifted high into the air as the track disappeared from beneath her. A smile flitted across her face as she soared through the air. Here now she had a chance to perhaps overtake [member="Stardust Raxis"].

[member="Desmond C'artyom"]
[member="Lady Kay"]

Forgetting about [member="Kei Garnik"] T3 he had let him used he whistled for it to come here and waited for it to come over, "Start scanning for any hostile signs from any of the people on this block towards Lady Kay or any of the people." Nodding to the droid as he looked back at the people his binoculars scanning over people before he heard the start and put the binoculars down to watch the pod race, Zoom! he heard as each pod racer zipped passed him, "Wow they're fast." he thought to himself as he sat in his apartment watching a little bit of the pod race. As they got further down the block he put his binoculars back to his face and started scanning the crowd again, another day, another boring job.

[member="Lady Kay"]

Desmond C'artyom started on the strait away. After this it would be all up hill from here. Literally. He shifted his gears and his turbo hoped up another notch. He swung his bike right and drifted side ways towards the wall. He let himself come within inches then hit the boosters. His pod shot forward, but scraped the wall and sparks went flying costing him a little speed. He was still going faster then before he made the turn though. Then suddenly Dunames Lopez made the turn too, she was taking the middle of the track and Des decided to do so too. She was not going to get past him.

[member="Lily Kilia"], [member="Dunames Lopez"], [member="Stardust Raxis"]

Lily over took [member="Stardust Raxis"] on the strait away. But just barely. If she wasn't the Twi'lek could catch her on one of the three upcoming turns. The first was fast approaching. Hugging the inside wall, had Lily elected to stick her arm out of the cockpit she could have easily touched surface of the wall, the smaller turn radius allowing her to gain some ground on Lady Raxis. The second turn was made easily, flyinf strait down the middle of the track. The third and final turn however, she took on the outside edge, her high speed carrying with it enough inertia to almost slam the racer into the wall. It was here that Stardust could regain her placement if she was fast enough.
