The gun is a dedicated anti-armor weapon with the ability to switch between an armor piercing bolt at high speed to a lower speed higher-volume high-explosive mode. The J-40 is the successor to the J-10 Proton Cannon in regards to it being the primary weapon of the Crossroads Army's newest next-generation main battle tank. It is designed to be more powerful, longer-ranged, and more accurate, while eliminating the weaknesses of the Crossroads Republic's main proton cannon weaponry has by requiring proton shells in order to fire.
