DESCRIPTION
A simple, and at the time, cheap weapon. The Crossroads Republic Army gained access to several million of these weapons on the cheap from the black market during their war of independence in 135 BBY. These weapons, while less-advanced, and designed as hunting and recreational weapons were soon pressed into military service alongside captured enemy weapons. While Crossroads' freedom fighters managed to capture lots of enemy weapons and equipment the most ubiquitous and visible weapon of the conflict was the CBR-1, which ironically, as a hunting blaster for taking down big game, was quite capable of eliminating enemy troops wearing armor, and punching through lightly-armored vehicles. With these weapons in hand the increasingly well-trained Crossroads militias performed long-range harassment marksman fire against enemy outposts in the countryside which the Hosnian Prime forces weren't equipped to handle due to their troops being trained and equipped for urban environments and armed with high rate of fire blasters. And thanks to the Hosnian Prime aircraft and their personnel not being designed to handle the gravity of Crossroads Prime the fighting was rather one-sided as outposts would get jumped, wiped out, and re-garrisoned for the process to be repeated. Many tens of thousands of Hosnian Prime soldiers and conscripts were killed by this weapon, and again this weapon was used to rather average effect in its last war against Eriadu where it found itself outclassed by the A280, which is what Crossroads ended up replacing this weapon with as their primary service blaster. But, the CBR-1 has remained the ceremonial blaster of the Crossroads Republic ever since, and real functioning weapons are issued to cadets and to ceremonial guard units, and on large parades it is this polished weapon which is seen with bayonet affixed being carried by cadet battalions involved.
