Caught by Circumstance

"Look, man, I have the credits, I swear. They're just, uh, somewhere." Saphir rummaged through her pockets with a tired urgency, voice rising just enough to be heard among the general buzz of the cantina. One hand rose to scratch at the back of her neck, the shortened hairs of a relatively fresh undercut providing an oddly satisfying feel against the fingers.

"Yeah, yeah, you and every other hooligan around this joint." The bar tender was having none of it, tending to paying customers, hardly sparing Saphir more than a passing glance. "Either pay up or get out."

"Wait!" The noise that rose from Saphir's throat in a lazy drag was hardly a word as her fingers finally found purchase, sliding the credits onto the bar. "Just gimme a drink, man."

And there she sat, a drink in hand, back to the door, hardly paying attention to the ongoings of her fellow cantina inhabitants.

In the dark recesses of the cantina in which Saphir found shelter, scrounged credits of her own, and ultimately received her drink, was a Mandalorian Bounty Hunter that needed no introduction. His name had spread across the stars, earning the ire and fear of many in his dangerous exploits. Paid well, and paid often. It was the way his world works; always on the job, never ending the hunt. It may be bad for his health, but it isn't as he cared. In this line of work most found themselves in early graves, anyways. For a Clone, this was far more than any had expected of him, even himself.

From his seat he raised his wrist as the majority of his body was shrouded in darkness. A cable fired from it, sent Saphir's way with the intent on ensuring her figure; immobilising her, if possible. A cantina like this knew the risk they ran from interfering with a man such as Fett, but perhaps there was someone particularly brave out there today. Who knew.

The liquid burned just a bit as it slid down Saphir's throat, not enough to impede judgment quite yet but certainly a start. This is what her life had devolved to - working odd jobs just enough to afford a couple drinks only to repeat the process. It was a life of minimal effort - fitting for Saphir, albeit not as simple as she'd like. Oh well, that couldn't exactly be helped. It wasn't enough to get her to change her lifestyle, only to mildly complain about it on her off days. And every day was an off day.

There was a brief moment in which the cable rippled into her consciousness and Saphir, still sober enough to react quickly, whirled about in her seat. Her action was far from precise, avoiding her entire body getting wrapped up in the cable, but effectively tangling her arms and spilling her drink, the latter of which she was far from pleased about. "What the-" Her head continued moving, search for whoever was responsible. "Oh, come on I just paid for that!"

There was a clear and apparent change in the dynamic atmosphere of the room. A once bustling hive of scum and villainy had turned into a quiet room, the only sound audible from the crowd was their breathing as it intensified. The glass struck the floor, shattering into the pieces as it's contents leaked out onto the area in which it should never belong, slipping through the cracks in the duracrete. It was similar to that of a train wreck: you can't watch, but you just can't look away. Seeing a Bounty Hunter at work must've been a treat for some, but a stark reminder for others. On worlds such as this, they were the only law that mattered- and how awful that must be.

The Mandalorian rose himself from his booth, pressing off of the table with his left hand as his right maintained a firm grip on his Blaster Carbine. His movements weren't exactly fast, for they didn't need to be. In time, he stepped from the shadows with his carbine raised and set to stun. Firing as many as it needed to take this Vahla down. It was just how it all works. Gorba paid, and that's the only thing Fett cared for.

As the atmosphere changed, so too did Saphir's own response time. The sudden silence of the crowd coupled with the sudden restraints had her in a stunned silence, wide-eyed as she searched for the perpetrator. She'd spent a fair portion of her life on the run, was in the process of doing that now, but never had she considered Bounty Hunters an object of concern. Now that it seemed she was proven wrong, she didn't know how to react. The moment was almost surreal, the lost drink nearly forgotten as soon as it was mentioned.

Her eyes widened then focused as the Mandalorian stood, the sight of the blaster spurring her into some sort of action, if only for self preservation's sake. Her foot hooked underneath a bar stool, meaning to launch it in the hunter's direction, to slow his progress at the very least. Saphir wouldn't see if her attempt was successful, however, bolts set for stun striking the woman where she stood. She hit the ground with a thud with nothing to break the fall, probably taking another stool with her. For reasons completely unknown to her, she was entirely defenseless.

If only Fett felt a twinge of humanity when conducting the core aspect of this lucrative profession: the hunt. Things might just prove better for him. Better in the sense of his ability to be human. Instead a cold, harsh, unrelenting, and distant hunter of man emerged from someone that felt compassion once upon a time. Suppose the events you take part in shape who you are, but not even he believed he was to change as much as he did. Just another one of those things. All Fett knew now were the credits and the hunt. It was gloriously awful, but you couldn't but relish in the fear you instilled, or the mark you left on the Galaxy.

A stool struck him as he barely attempted to shift out of it's way, knowing that it wasn't going to provide any damage, but couldn't help but instinctively avoid it. It was then that Saphir dropped, but Fett was never satisfied from the first movement, especially from someone as large as she. A sedative dart was launched from his wrist, impacting with her neck as Steele lay their dormant. Then came the manner of attempting to drag her out.

"Hmph." The Mandalorian grunted at the thought.

An odd scene to be sure.

[member="Saphir Steele"]

Her form was sprawled out among the floor, taking up a fair amount of the area that'd cleared itself when the crowd first noticed what was going down. It was probably she'd have bruises by the time she'd return to consciousness. For the moment, though, she was all but dead to the world, entirely unaware of how dire her situation may be. Aside from perhaps a slight movement as the dart hit her neck, she lay completely still, for once her countenance seeming almost at peace.

[member="Koda Fett"]

Saphir's unconscious, seemingly lifeless, body found itself within the grip of the Mandalorian who was strong, even stronger than he looked. His muscular, albeit lean, figure was capable of more than it appeared to be of. Fending off against creatures far greater in size than himself with nothing but his bare hands, but the technology he coated himself in was always welcomed. Why punch when you can shoot, and so on. As the sun kissed his armour upon departing the cantina, he shifted his gaze in the direction of the one-man speeder with room on the back- lazily placing the woman over it. Fett climbed on top of it himself, revving the engine, speeding off.

In time, he reached his vessel the Spear II. As the thrusters engaged and began to lift off, the speeder they once rode was resting in the cargo bay, and with it the woman. Stuffed inside of cage mixed between a crate. Far too small for comfort, but enough to live within. Their destination? Hutt Space. Saphir may just hope she remained asleep, it was a far enough trip, and what waited her on the other side was less than pleasant.

Soon enough the Spear II pierced the atmosphere of wherever it was Gorba the Hutt resided, at least in this current juncture of time. Fett was reliable, and with each bounty his reliability only increased. For some, he was required- no other could do. Steele was awake now, her hands bound behind her back as the she walked in front of the Hunter who raised his Carbine to her back with one hand, prepared to stun once more if she tried to flee. It was into the Hutt's meeting place, be it a Palace or dirty Alleyway.

Beyond maneuvering long limbs, the bounty hunter would find no resistance from the Vahla, her person laying as gravity dictated. There were a couple times, especially in the cage far too small for one of her size, in which it looked as if she might wake up. In those moments, anyone near by could possibly hear a groan or a mumble of the nonsensical sort before the woman once more relented to the sweet embrace of sedatives.

When at last Saphir did come to, she was far from pleased with her position. Arms now bound behind her back, the blaster trained on her, discouraging any funny business, she drug her feet as the two moved to meet with whoever had hired the bounty hunter. "Y'know, I still have no clue what you got me for," she drawled, remnants of the sedatives still in her veins, slurring her speech, slowing other cognitive processes. "'N the silent whatever thing really isn't doing you any favors. Gimme something to work with, man. Do you have like a name? A call sign? Anything?"

Gorba sat in the box seating for the gladiatorial arena in the entertainment district of the station. Around him stood a cadre of attendants, waiting on him hand and foot like good little slaves. So hard to find good slaves these days, Gorba bemoaned to himself. Seemed every promising sale got hijacked by some self-righteous Jedi, or other meddling do-gooders. The constant interloping grated on him. Truly it was a testament to his magnanimity that he did not simply have all Jedi shot on sight.

Especially those Silvers. Yes, especially them and their meddling in his Kashyyyk affairs.

His lips closed around a hookah pipe and he sucked in the flavored vapor until it filled his mouth. He rolled the flavor around, Nal Hutta fire toad, then he expelled the vapor through his nose in a cloud.

The wroshyr lumber business would be set back thousands of wupiupis.

Below, in the center of the arena, Luchius LeFrange - the Devaronian criminal mastermind - screamed as a Nikto sawed off his horns before the watching crowd.

A just punishment for his failure.

Fett wasn't much in the way of a talker. It was his simple silent general disposition. Talking only when you had to had served him right thus far, and so why fix what isn't broken. Then comes the argument of something that isn't broken can even be fixed, and if you attempted it would you actually break it? A rather pointless hypothetical really, but Koda's mind often wandered the realms of fantasy and delusion when not on the job. Drifting into what could of or might not of inside his own head when blazing across the stars, or residing in one of his temporary homes. Home is where the heart is, though, and so none of it could really be considered home. When indulging himself in his famed profession it was entirely business, however. Nothing else, ever.

It should of come to no surprise that he offered nothing in return but a jab in the back from his blaster. Koda was even a little insulted he wasn't recognise by someone who ventured into lawless space so often.

Outland Transit Station held some significance to the Bounty Hunter, being a base of operations for his pseudo-father: Jango. There always was that disconnection between Koda and Jango, for Koda was nothing more than a Clone Trooper - an Advanced Recon Commando - but a Clone Trooper all the same. Jango never knew he, as an individual, existed. Although, if there was an afterlife he hoped that Jango looked down at him with a smile. He tried to make the dead-man proud, but it was difficult being a man like Fett.

The Bounty Hunter entered the Hutt's particularly secure area of the station, boarding an elevator that was bit too long for comfort. An awkward silence, to be sure. Ultimately arriving in the Hutt's booth, the door opening with a swoosh. An assistant to Gorba shuffled alongside him, whispering sweet nothings into the corpulent slug's ears. Making him aware that the Mandalorian had arrived.

Crimson eyes flickered at the new movement within the box as [member="Koda Fett"] entered with a catch of the day, a younger woman who she recognized as a Vahla. One of her own, or atleast Gorba had told her. Little information had been given her and there about who or what she was, and Mira was strung along like a pet – begging for scraps, anything to satisfy hungering lust for knowledge that burned in the recess in her mind. For now, she didn't mind it, it was part of a bigger game she needed to play to figure out where she belonged in the grand scheme and who she was.

She seemed unfazed for the moment by the usage of sedation, and the woman's obvious lack of desire to be present. Mira was also unfazed by the ongoings in the arena, completely unamused by the punishment doled out by Gorba and his "entertainers". That is what they were, nothing more. Mere tools of entertainment. Put them out in the streets and they wouldn't last more than a mynock minute.

A groan of displeasure escaped her, unnoticed by most as she pushed off the wall and moved to the side of Gorba as his aide alerted him. Mira glanced the aide over and then looked back to Koda and his prey.

"Ow!" The sudden jab at her back was more annoying than it was painful, also a not so pleasant reminder that the faceless and apparently nameless bounty hunter could shoot her at any time. Just a wonderful position to be in, really. For several moments, she considered stopping, attempting to kick the bounty hunter when he too came to a halt. It could've been funny, watching (or more so listening) to him getting a taste of his own medicine. Why, maybe if she kicked hard enough, she'd get the chance to knock that blaster out of his hand. Now that would be some prime escape material. At least until someone took into account that she'd still have her hands bound and in an area she'd never been to let alone had any idea as to how to get out.

So rather than letting the grand escape attempt begin, she exhibited a moment of foresight, opting only to grumble and move forward a step faster if only to put some distance between her and the barrel. As they grew closer to the elevator, she still had little clue as to what was going on. Did that sign mention something about Hutts? What'd she done that'd invoke the wrath of any of those slugs?

The elevator ride was indeed an awkward one, chirpy elevator music filling the silence was just too off putting when compared to the context of the situation. She wanted to comment on it, too, but what was the point when her captor seemed completely void of any sense of humor? The door swooshed open and once more Saphir felt that urge to run. But she was in the belly of the beast now. There would be no escape, only perhaps prolonging the inevitable. Still, there was also the chance that they'd just dispose of her while she was unconscious. As tempting as that was, she still wanted to know what she was being accused of, or better yet, if there was a chance she'd be getting out of this.

Gorba waved a hand, shooing away his attendant, and turned to look at the bounty hunter. [member="Koda Fett"] had nearly failed him once before, when the Munin assassins stormed his palace. This time it appeared he had succeeded.

The sole good eye in the Hutt's head fixed on the captured prey, leering at her for a solid five second before the Hutt's nictating membranes slid across the surface of the eyeball in a blink.

"Who . . . is that?"

He looked to Koda, then to [member="Mira Rekali"].

[member="Saphir Steele"]

The Mandalorian had been hired to capture one, 'Saphir Steele'. A Vahla that often spent her time in the Outer-Rim. More than likely she took part in heavy drinking, gambling, and lead a life without purpose that was ultimately boring. It was a thing for people out there, ro so Fett and figured throughout his time in that particular region of space. Best believe scum such as that had been vaporised more than a few times by the Bounty Hunter who stood here today with he catch of the day.

Fett hadn't replied to Gorba, instead, he further jabbed Saphir's back. Prompting her to say her own name and reply to Gorba. Koda was only here for his credits, and once they were handed over? He was gone as quickly as he came, likely venturing on yet another hunt that'd be lost to time for it was to prove ultimately meaningless. The big scores are what counted, and Koda had plenty of them, but it were the little ones that kept him going. Fett didn't fit in anywhere for good reason, and so it was the killing he stuck to like glue.

Under the scrutiny of the hutt, Saphir found herself making a point to avoid eye contact. That wall was pretty interesting, right? And that ceiling - what a time for mediocre architecture. It really was a shame her hands were bound, her nose was itching something fierce, there was a stray hair poking at her eye, refusing to move to a less annoying position no matter how she moved her head.

Another pained grunt met the bounty hunter's jab. This time she didn't hold back, a leg jutting back to kick the man. "Will you knock it off?" She hissed at the hunter, glaring at him before turning to meet the hutt's gaze. "'M name's Saphir Steele, okay? You feel like telling me why you've got the quiet one here dragging me here, uh, Mr Hutt...sir..?"

"Eh?"

Gorba glared at the prisoner, then at [member="Koda Felt"], then at his majordomo, Brutus.

In Huttese, he said, <She isn't Twi'lek. The bounty is for a Twi'lek. Sapphira Steel.>

Brutus, a pitbull of a Klatooinian, looked [member="Saphir Steele"] up and down. <Er.>

<Does she look Twi'lek to you?> Gorba glowered.

Brutus shrank, shoulders hunching. <Apologies, Great One, there must have been a clerical error.>

<Bah. No matter.> Gorba waved a hand dismissively. <She can still be an offering in the arena. Pay the bounty hunter.>

The Klatooinian tapped a few buttons on his data pad, then looked up at Koda. "The funds have been deposited in your account. Will you stay to watch her execution?"
