Casus Belli (Tygaran Alliance/Galactic Alliance vs First Order Rebellion of Kaeshana) OOC THREAD

I'm not sure if what ought to be IC animosity is bleeding out in to OOC- but maybe we can all remember we're participating in a joint story telling venture. There will be good guys and bad guys on both sides, misunderstandings and assumptions, heroes and fiends.... but it's the actions of fictional characters, and we should keep all of that there.

Yes, well we don't always get our intentions realised.

"We really, really want to help you people...so let's use crucifixions, human shields and stormtrooper invasions to show it!"

If you're going to try and blame GA for bringing down a Star Destroyer in a war zone the question really is...why do benevolent humanitarians need a Star Destroyer?

Besides, the area around there is either the city (filled with FO troops and few civilians) or mountains filled with nothing but ice and Jesters.
Since you have chosen to enter this conversation by publicly ditching staff impartiality, I assume that means I get a right of reply :p No salt or drama here, but I don't want people to think they need to accept your version of the truth by virtue of you being the head admin, particularly when it does not reflect reality. I think it bears clarification so that people understand that there are (at least) two sides to the story.

Here are some facts:
1. Crucifixions were not used by any First Order personnel as far as I'm aware. They were used by an independent Sith Lord against people who, by the way, are criminals and terrorists, not "just folks". And lastly, they began after the Galactic Alliance and friends intervened in a non-violent humanitarian mission.
2. Benevolent humanitarians need a Star Destroyer when their actions are interfered with by the Galactic Alliance (who, by the way, started the hostility).
2a. The actual question is, if the Firemane and the GA and the other white knights in this thread are so concerned for the health and well-being of the natives, why would they violently intervene with what was an entirely nonviolent and peaceful mission designed to provide assistance and study the ecological effects of the planetary disaster? The default (if unoriginal) position of "kill the stormtroopers" is fine but nobody can say with credibility they are liberating a conquered populace because we haven't conquered anyone ;)
3. We're not going to blame the GA for bringing down a Star Destroyer until we know whether the GA has done something to do so. I pride myself on avoiding metagaming. We only know that a Star Destroyer was downed; we don't know how or by whom. I don't think it's a lot to ask to read our response before denouncing it as garbage, do you?

So far I think this thread is going great, and I'm enjoying myself immensely reading and pondering it. It's my first time doing this type of thing, so it's all new and terrifying to me. It has brought out a lot of creativity on the part of my faction's writers and I couldn't prouder of their performance so far. Likewise, [member="Zark"] and the members of the Galactic Alliance are acquitting themselves ably. Well done friends!

You either die a hero, or live long enough to be the villain.

[member="Irajah Ven"] is right, the discussion about IC consequences, motivations, and intentions should be done in-character, some things are bound to be twisted, exaggerated, or covered up by the truth-muddlers and propaganda slingers anyway. OOCly, we're here to write stories together, not take part in some popularity contest, and it's always easy to focus on the strengths of your plan while pointing out the weaknesses in that of your opponent. Sure, we may be at each other's throats now and the other side may seem like the worst people on the planet, but give it a few months or maybe even weeks, perhaps days, and we'll probably end up working together or collaborating on different character accounts and find out, hey that guy that seemed like total butthole in the invasion is actually not bad after all.

The human shields are regretable, but when out numbered and in hostile territory, a good soldier uses what he can to get by.
No.

Even in war, there are lines you do not cross. Period.

Just talking from a soldiers stand point, not crying foul on your roleplaying. I'm loving the read!

Hey [member="Six-O"] sorry for being a bit behind, timezone is a bit inconvenient and my schedule today has kept me away from a computer, I will try to figure out what is going on in the thread and between us, I believe I have been ambushed which should be some fun so I will get something up as soon as I can.

Also, at the very least I will get a post up every 24hrs or hopefully less and will try for as many as I can or are needed if you need a reply. If you feel I am taking too long though then by all means just let me know here or hit me up with a pm.

I'm gonna only tag those they are directly affecting me and vice versa.

I know I've been getting loads of notifications but the actual post content doesn't affect my character.

So I'm gonna do the same so that way ya'll aren't swarmed with notifications just because you are in "the vicinity" lol
