Public Casino Night

th

Sometimes the galaxy just needed people to have fun. One thing that Coren Starchaser knew, the galaxy was not always the rough and tumble place that people made it out to be. He was a warrior, well, retired Jedi Marshall, retired fighter pilot squadron leader, and now just navigation instructor and Jedi ExplorCorps Mission Chief. And with the war more centrally located, the Levantine Sanctum was peaceful for the most part. Raiders and the like, but it could do a few days without some of the known players around.

The Nursing Home Gang, as they called themselves were definitely the elders of the galaxy now. Not in the lime light, allowing others to take lead of their old organizations, but still being there, in that NPC-mission giver role, or even just simple smuggling. But they didn’t call the attention that they used to, and frankly, most of them didn’t want that.

Still, they were alive and wanted to have fun.

And like any good nursing home, there was a big ship that had taken them into the galaxy at large. Some of the younger members of their little crew were aware of where they went and could do with that as they could.

As for most? Well, Coren Starchaser had found himself around a craps table in the Canto Bight Casino. No lightsaber (in sight), but his suit was a dark tan, with blue accents, similar to his Jedi robes. Beard trimmed, and looking actually put together for someone who spent the past few months jumping randomly through the TIngel Arm trying to connect some of the lost worlds he could feel out there.

“Come on…” He whispered, knowing that it would be too obvious to use the Force on the dice, but it was so tempting.

What a drag.

Jalen had only tolerated Canto Bight for the potential of a date he had managed to score. Now that he was finally here, the young Jedi came to the rather dreary realization that the young man he was ment to meet up with had ditched the venue. He had been stood up. He had gotten his suit ironed and everything, but all that effort was for nothing. Worst of all was now he felt trapped here. It seemed kind of silly to waste all of that prep just to go back home immediately, right?

He hadn't been expecting there to be so many old people.

The eyes on Jalen's face could not see, but auras revealed a lot about people. There was a sudden influx of people who were most certainly, for better or worse, getting up in age. It was as though the inhabitants of an assisted living space had broken out and raided the gambling tables. Was that bad? They were adults at the very least, capable of making decisions for themselves, but he couldn't help but hope that they were all in their right minds. Leaving someone with dementia alone in a casino seemed like a terrible idea. At the very least there was one man who seemed in his right mind.

In fact, his aura was strong. Jalen couldn't help but wonder who the man was. Force sensitive certainly, perhaps even trained. Maybe they were cheating? The force made that pretty easy.

Jalen's head settled on the table and... nothing. He was, after all, still very much blind. He couldn't really tell who was winning.

"Hey," Jalen muttered to Coren, leaning over. "Who's winning? I can't see the game. Is it fun?"

You kind of needed to see to play. He doubted that it was fun though. Most people just seemed stressed when they played.

Wearing: Cultist Catsuit

Armed With: Synthetic Crystal Lightsaber (Purple)

Objective: Play craps.

(THIS plays)

The woman who entered the Canto Blight Casino was dressed in a white catsuit so skintight it almost looked painted on, dangling from her belt was a simple lightsaber with scratches and other signs of weathering. It was a far cry from the weapons she had used to wield before placing all her faith in the Dark Side, which she used to help conceal her presence.

She danced like Bully Maguire on her way in, tossing dozens of Aurodium Coins made by her faction at the floor manager. One of the security guards recognized her due to being a survivor of The Bryn'adul Wars and immediately backed the hell off, because he was also a survivor of one of her Cult's massacres of the innocent.

Laertia Io, now known by her cult name of The Parliament, waltzed through the casino, drawing stares for her gorgeous look initially.

And then they saw her eyes. Two orbs of rotting yellow with no observable irises or pupils. Dead bulbs inserted into her eye sockets almost.

And those dead, soulless eyes fixed on Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser , and immediately a flood of emotions had to be suppressed.

Even now, after more than a decade, the hatred for the Jedi Master stung fresh. Pride ate at the Parliament, like it had eaten away at Laertia, and she tried not to miss opportunities to torment the old Jedi. How many Jedi corpses had she sent to his place of residence over the years, all mangled and such? She'd honestly lost count. But she continued with it because she really, really hated Coren Starchaser, and also because at this point she was crazy AF.

She felt like playing a game. And with soooooo many innocent people around, it could make things... interesting.

She slinked to the craps table, bought her way in and patiently waited for his turn to end. She smiled brightly at Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el , practically daring him with a wink to do something.

"So, what's your winnings so far, Master Starchaser?" The Parliament asked, taking a seat at the table.

"And how can I take them from you? Y'know, like how I took Romi from you."

She hadn't actually had anything to do with the disappearance of Romi Jade Romi Jade , but he didn't know that. Besides, if she took credit for it, it might hopefully throw him and the Jedi off the scent of whoever had (She suspected a kidnapping, as her own faction's psychology experts had flatly told her in no uncertain terms that the idea that Romi had performed a lethal escape on innocent people was absurd: It HAD to be outside interference).

So by the time he and the Jedi figured out the Parliament had simply been trolling him, it would hopefully be too late to save Romi from whoever had taken her.

"I did get a massive kick out of watching you get interrogated by all those upstanding journalists. A pity that aerosolized Sith Poison I released into the courtroom didn't seem to take with Romi." The Parliament added with a subtle sadism as she tossed her own dice after his turn was over.

"Do you like to live dangerously?"

It was strange for the Protocol Droid turned Bounty Hunter to be given a rather trivial assignment by the Bounty Hunters' Guild with the client being the Canto Bight Police Department. They wanted assistance in rounding up criminal suspects within the city limits and handling any violent gangs that harassed the gamblers and high rollers of the various casino establishments. The Job was utterly beneath the skill of a professional such as himself as the gangs had been dealt with one by one rather easily, far too easily in his tactical opinion but the amount of credits had been sufficient enough to warrant some walking around for second rate mod shops and illegal upgrade modules that came from previously dismantled droids.

Entering into one of the many casino establishments after such purchases
had been made, and dealing with the occasional anti-droid protestors. Scanning around for anything of potential interest, before settling upon a well dressed organic ( Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser ) who was sitting at one of the many game tables along with some other patrons in some sort of dice game. Bystanders such as ( Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el ) and ( Laertia Io Laertia Io ) were around, glancing upon the table from time to time before entering into conversation although the audio was not picked up by him.

The Bounty Hunter scanned the figures to identify some key features and making sure they weren't wanted in the Bounty Hunter Registry. Mostly staying in the background for now to observe the interaction and see if any issues would come up during that time.
