OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION

[*]
Coordinates: S-50

[*]
Major Imports: High Technology, Metals

[*]
Major Exports: Various Exotic Flora & Fauna, Doonium Ore, Crystals from Desert Caverns, Water, Nether Ice, High End Shipwright Services

GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION

[*]
Primary Terrain: Sand Dunes, Mountains, Rare Few Oasis

[*]
Atmosphere: Type 1

[*]
Major Locations:

 • Socorran Jedi Guardian Academy: Still mostly a ruin, this once great and prosperous Academy now plays hosts to trainees from the Underground, Rebellion, the Shattered and Green Jedi and more. If you are a Force User, most specifically a Guardian, and are seeking to take your lightsaber training beyond the mundane, you can find no better instruction than here. If you can find it, that is.

 • Vakeyya: Capital city, and truly the most cosmopolitan place in the Galaxy to some. High Society, Criminal Scum, and Native Socorran all rub elbows in the Capital City. If you need something and aren’t picky about how you got it, this place has it.

 • Doaba Badlands

 • Rym Mountains

 • Asilyr Tribal Lands

 • Bharhulai Tribal Lands

 • Ibhaan’l Tribal Lands

 • Ndowi Tribal Lands

 • Cjaalysce’l

 • Norble: Home to many of the Planets factions of Criminals, this is a dangerous place that not many will dare come to, and those who do would do well to keep a tight hand on their blasters and their credits.

 • Madra: A city in the desert founded by the Natives, it was taken over by Colonists in a bloodless merging. A rare thing in those days. Housing several medical centers of varying degrees of belief and technology, Madra is a place known for a dogged commitment to peace and prosperity, and the healing of the hurts of all who come to it, despite who they are or were.

 • Judges of the Dead: A sacred site to natives, and a place of great superstition.

POPULATION

[*]
Immigrated Species:

[*]
Population: Minimally Populated

[*]
Demographics:

[*]
Various Others - 15%

[*]
Primary Languages: Galactic Standard Basic, Olys Corellisi, Various Native Socorran Dialects & Languages

[*]
Culture:

 • The Native: Native Socorrans are superstitious, insular, and almost xenophobic since the Plague and Darkness and other Galactic events ravaged the Galaxy. They are rarely seen outside of the Deserts or Oasis, most at home on the rolling dunes of their planets. Their technology is comparable to that of Galactic Standard, albeit often in a much less good state of repair and a decade or two behind.

 • The “Colonists”: The Natives’ terms for those Corellians and their descendants who arrived on the Colony ships, the handful of cities and places across Socorro are much like any standard town on Corellia, minus the climate change. These places are hives of smuggling and rogues, and any scoundrel would feel at home in these cities.

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY

 • Government: For lack of a more delicate answer, Socorro has no planetary wide Government. Each City is it’s own island, ran by a Governor or Mayor, and rarely do they see or feel the need to network and cooperate, preferring to remain unknowing and independent.

 • Affiliation: N/A

 • Wealth: Medium - Though poor on technology, Socorro is a hub for smugglers and traders of less than legal goods, and so thus their economy is on par with most of the Galaxy, or slightly better. Native controlled areas are notably poorer and more slum-like, whereas Colonist towns are generally better off.

 • Stability: Medium. Though there are often turf wars beyond gangs, bribing of police forces, and more there is an overarching respect of the individual way of life and an understanding of the need to all get along. If someone gets too rowdy, it is not uncommon for the disparate parts of the area to unite to end the threat to their haven.

 • Freedom & Oppression: Freedom. Almost ao an extreme, the Soccorrans of Native and Colonial birth value and prize freedom alike, and are near rabid in their devotion to such a cause.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

 • Military: A hive of scum and villainy with no discernible defense structure other than what it's inhabitants have to offer.

 • Technology: Galactic Standard in Colonial Areas, minus a decade or so. Several decades behind in native planetary areas.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Once a Corellian Colony world, Socorro suffered greatly since the rise of the New Republic and other happenings, dwindling to little more than an upjumped backwater dumping site for primitives and criminals. Through the revival of the Galaxy as a whole after the Gulag Plague and subsequent events, it slowly rebuilt and healed itself to a vaguely prosperous, if mostly forgotten and neglected world.

Eventually, a wayward Corellian Jedi would find his way there, and the razed Jedi Guardian Temple would see some restoration back to a serviceable state, with several bolt holes and hidden bases in the desert for Rebel and Warden types popping up. Some mere bolt holes with supplies, and others more extensive.

Overall, Socorro’s tale is nothing extensive in modern days. A dozen or more planets on the Outer Rim are much like it. Backwater, poor to middle class, and rife with illegal trade and scoundrels and rogues of all stripes. For the natives in the desert, life proceeds much as it ever was, excepting maybe that the last few centuries have further hardened their resolve and grit.

A welcome addition to the Chaos map and nicely detailed. Canon worlds of course warrant additional scrutiny than original works to ensure fidelity, and this submission seems meticulously faithful to Socorro's EU source material.

The only thing that warrants addressing which I can see is your image header. Per recent codex updates, I'll have to ask you to resize it to within 1000x750 or alternatively you can keep it at its current dimensions but inside a spoiler tag.

[member="Taeli Raaf"] - From the 'Black Sands of Socorro' source the only descriptor I can find is an ice used to regulate hot springs temperatures, so i'd assume something sorta like a dry ice type of thing?

I can either fill in the gaps and sub Nether Ice, pull the mention, or leave as is. Or another option. Just let me know!
