The recipe for the Calendula Healing Salve was one of the very first that Zora developed. It is fairly simple and primitive, but very useful and effective. It is a product that is suited for a variety of uses -- healing superficial wounds, burns, rashes, insect bites, and other skin irritations. Originally, the salve relied upon the use of Calendula (Chamomile) to soothe and heal, but Zora has incorporated a pulp created from Nysillin plants found on Felucia. This has given the mixture a stronger healing component.
Zora handcrafts this salve in small batches, working from her home in the woods of Dathomir. She starts by infusing a natural oil with the dried herbs, and mixing them with melted wax. This creates a thick, balm-like consistency. The salve carries a distinctly herbal aroma, made more pleasant by the addition of Lavender essence.
While this salve is not for treating open wounds, once the wound has closed, it can be used to speed the healing process and prevent infection. As this balm is not as effective as bacta, it generally takes a number of applications and a couple of days to see full results. However, for minor skin irritations and dryness, the salve will help fairly quickly. It works very well to add a gentle, yet protective layer to skin.
The Calendula Healing Salve has a long shelf life, however, it does become less potent over time. Zora tends to recommend a new jar after one year, just to ensure that clients are receiving the full benefits of her product.
