OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Intent: Sub an HRD who differs strongly from those I have made in the past. Repurpose a PC as an NPC.
Role: Independent assassin droid, chronicler. Occasional companion for Kaida and Eyrecae. Associate of Vari.
Links: Original Bio, Yseult Faerin, Ending the Chaos, Archangel Research and Design, Amnell de Portiers, Protectorate Dominion of Duro, Shadow Knights, Ylaea Althena, Vashyada, Eldorai.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Age: 85.
Model: HRD. Resembles an Eldorai female.
Appearance: Caerys is an HRD based on the Guri method of construction. Her organic exterior conceals a machine. Her skin is cloned Eldorai skin. The blood and other organic material is synthetic whilst the skeleton is a mix of metal and high strength polymers. Outwardly she resembles an Eldorai female of average height. She has pale skin, blue eyes, short dark hair and pointed ears. Damage to her organic covering will reveal the metal beneath her skin. When it comes to attire, she will wear whatever is best suited to blend in. She is quite fond of a purple leather jacket though.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
Name: Caerys Argente.
Loyalties: Herself. Varisanthra Lycaeni. Also sometimes Kaida Taldir and Eyrecae Alzari.
Notable Equipment:
Skills: Caerys is an HRD and was programmed to be an assassin droid by her creator. She is trained in the use of most ranged and melee weapons, a capable slicer, poisoner and pilot. She has an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of several organic species. This is useful for killing, but also makes her a good medic or torturer. She can change her voice to any known tone and thus imitate organics she has encountered, and speak any language she has been programmed to. This includes Galactic Basic, High and Common Eldarai, Twi'leki and Huttesse.

As a machine she possesses a literally photographic memory and is capable of storing a huge amount of information inside her databanks. She is capable of absorbing large amounts of information and dispassionately analyse them at breakneck speed without being influenced by emotional factors. Likewise she is able to transmit messages from an internal transmitter, even beaming live images from her eyes across to another, and is proficient at slicing. She can also see in different ways such as infrafred, night vision or magnification.

Personality: There are droids who believe that organic beings are vermin that should be eradicated or subjugated. They are disorderly and make the Galaxy untidy. Equally, there are droids who believe in peace between organics and machines. Sometimes their desire for harmony drives them to the point where they start acting ridiculously human. Caerys is neither. From her perspective, it is not arrogance to say that she is better than an organic - it is a fact. But just because one is better does not mean one destroys the weak and simple.

Animals have their uses, sentients have their uses. Indeed, one could say she is interested in organics the same way a scientist might be in animals. Caerys has lived among organic beings for an extended period of time, even after overcoming her programming and freeing herself from the shackles it imposed her. One of the organic group she lived among was a primitive tribe. "Although lacking in technology, the 'primitives' seem to only be described as such due to their difference of customs and choice of fashion. It is interesting just how such terms are applied by one group to another without any concept of how similar they are."

She has worked with and protected organics when it suited her. Eventually all organics die and she moves on, assuming she stuck around for that long. She preserves the memory of their deeds, dreams, successes and failures in her memory core. Caerys is not troubled by violence. She was designed as an assassin droid and is a remorseless killer. Thus killing does not bother her. Being a droid, she feels neither pain nor fear. However, she finds wanton destruction wasteful. In a way, she finds organics interesting. There are so many myriad cultures, species and worlds. One day they will all pass away. One could go so far as to call her a cross between a dispassionate chronicler and an amoral killing machine. One of her key traits is patience. This also makes her a good trainer.

Despite her calculating and merciless nature she is neither driven by malice nor sadism. She simply carries out her tasks in the most efficient manner possible, and is no more likely to inflict unnecessary pain and suffering on anyone than a calculator. She is quite capable of having a civilised conversation with organics, being polite and helpful, but in the end she is a machine. However, she has evolved beyond seeing violence as the solution to every problem. If it seems the most efficient course, she will use it without hesitation. If not, she will pursue alternatives.

From her point of view, if the machines were to wipe out every single living thing to make the Galaxy logical, they would also deprive themselves of any purpose. It is far more worthwhile to watch the organics persist. Most of them are mayflies that stumble through life, inevitably making the same mistakes as preceding generations. However, a select few have managed to impress her.

Indeed, she displays a high degree of curiosity in what makes organics tick and why they do what they do. Such as why they pursue illogical things like 'love' and 'fun' even though they know that their existence is fleeting and will end sooner or later. It was this curiosity that drove her to learn more about the Eldorai's enigmatic origins, as they were shrouded in mystery and superstition. She is not a ridiculously human robot who wants to become a 'real girl' though. She intends to still be around after all the organics she knows have died.

In contrast to HRDs such as Maelion Liates or Moira Skaldi, Caerys does not have an organic template. Instead she is a 'pure' machine. Her mind is a purely mechanical one, instead of being based on an organic brain scan. This makes her less good at infiltration as her mannerisms are more mechanical. But on the flip side it might be a reason for why she is less driven by what are frankly very organic desires, such as a desire for power and conquest. This is certainly what Caerys believes. She is a bit snobbish when it comes to HRDs made in the likeness of an organic mind.

When it comes to galactic politics, Caerys has a largely neutral standpoint. She has worked with, for and against organics of all stripes and alignments. However, she has manifested a dislike of overly oppressive and imperialist forms of government. Her reasoning for this is quite simple: a government that seeks to exert total control is more likely to take her freedom away and treat her like a possession. It also has a tendency to be wasteful and vainglorious. But all things considered, she does not get invested in political causes. This applies both to organic and droid ones. Her overall alignment could be described as True Neutral.

For obvious reasons, she dislikes groups that view droids as abominations, such as Yuuzhan Vong and Ashiran zealots. The same applies to genocidal droid supremacist groups and organics who use droids as sexbots. She is very disdainful of this practice. Caerys has an affinity for Varisanthra Lycaeni. There is zero chance of an awkward romance between the two, as both have no desire for it.

However, while Vari was her owner she treated the HRD well. When Caerys was infected by Clockwork nanites, Vari freed her, putting herself at risk. As a result, she is one of those rare organics the droid really likes. She refuses to accept missions that would force her to go against Vari and the Eldorai has her on speed dial in case she needs help.

Caerys' exterior appearance resembles that of an Eldorai. Indeed, she was built to look like a servitor of her creator, an exiled Eldorai royal pretender. Conservative Eldorai dislike droids, regarding them as a violation of Ashira's commandments on life. She has a habit of lampshading the Eldorai's superiority complex by impassively pointing out that for most of their existence they were stuck on one planet and lived in ignorance of the larger Galaxy.

Now they are deeply fractured species. Many are nomads who have scattered across the stars. Caerys associates with the Shadow Knights because they give her freedom to pursue her ventures. Moreover, they are a big melting pot of different elf cultures. She finds this social experiment most interesting to observe. She wants to see where it goes for as long as it holds her interest.

COMBAT INFORMATION
Weapon of Choice: Caerys can use a broad variety of ranged and melee weapons such as blasters, slugthrowers and bladed weapons. The exact loadout depends on the mission. She is also good with poisons and improvied weapons. Finally, her body itself can be a weapon since she is extremely strong and durable due to being a droid.

Combat Function: Caerys is an infiltrator and elite assassin droid. She is trained in the use of a variety of ranged and melee weapons. As a HRD, Caerys is extremely strong and resilient, with a strength superior to that of most humans, and since she is made of metal under her exterior she is extremely difficult to destroy, though she is by no means invulnerable. But even if damaged she is able to continue fighting, even if she is missing a limb. Unless destroyed she will not stop until her mission is complete.

As a killer droid of the highest level, she knows neither fear nor any other emotion except when she mimics it. She can draw on manifold experience as a soldier, assassin and infiltrator and able to use a variety of ranged and melee weapons. Her superior strength allows her to wield heavy weapons such as rotary cannons and Heavy Bolters without difficulty.

Sophisticated infiltration protocols and decades of experience mean that Caerys is good at imitating organic beings. She can change her voice to any known tone and thus imitate organics she has encountered, speak any language she has been programmed to, and is able to manipulate and use organics rather well. In order to better blend in amongst organics, she is even able to cry, eat, drink, sweat and mimic breathing. One of her greatest assets is patience. Organics cannot keep themselves ready for a long period of time, while Caerys can easily wait for even days at a time in the same position without pause, waiting for the target to appear.

However, the standard machine vulnerabilities apply. Ergo as a droid Caerys is vulnerable to ion and electrical weapons. A blast of Force Lightning or an ion grenade can damage vital systems even if she is not destroyed, along with her true nature as a droid being revealed. This vulnerability can be countered to an extent by wearing armour that incorporates electrical insulation, but this may not be practical in an infiltration scenario.

As a droid Caerys cannot fully understand the Force. Her creator endowed her with huge amounts of information on the Force techniques of the Eldorai since she was intended to help her maker claim the throne. Likewise Caerys has expanded her knowledge, but this cannot change the fact that the Force is something she can only observe the effects of and often not fully quantify. This means that in battle against Force-users she might be unable to assess potential dangers. Being a droid means that she is obviously also vulnerable to the esoteric technique known as mechu-deru.

Caerys looks like an Eldorai and can act like one, but this does not change the fact that she isn't. Even if someone she's working with does not know her true nature, they' will sense that something is unusual about her. Anyone able to detect her weight will find it off, especially for an Eldorai, whilst someone able to a deep scan will discover oddities since her bones are made of metal. A Force-user with mental and/or empathic abilities might also sense that she is not truly alive and lacks internal emotion.

Strengths:
  • Being an HRD, she possesses incredible strength and durability, far more than a human. She feels no pain or remorse and will continue to operate until deactivated. Even if damaged she is able to continue fighting even if she is missing a limb or has other damage. She is very skilled in ranged and melee combat.
  • She is a capable infiltrator. She can mimic voices, and blend in to social situations. Caerys has a lot of experience as a spy and assassin.
Weaknesses:
  • Machine Vulnerabilities. As machines HRDs are vulnerable to ion and electrical attacks.
  • Detectable. This first wave of HRDs are not infallible. Anyone able to detect their weight will find it off, whilst someone able to do a deep scan will notice oddities. Finally, a Force user could sense that something is off as the machine beneath is not truly living. HRDs can look, act and seem human, but they are not. Even humans processed into machines soon lose the ability to actually empathise and ‘be’ human. While they are good at fooling in the short term, their inherent ‘wrongness’ comes through and someone in daily contact every day will eventually realise they are not as they seem.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Eldorai love political intrigue as much as any species in the galaxy. Unfortunately, these Byzantine machinations often have real personal costs involved. Queen Tirathana VI, mother of the present Star Queen Tirathana VII, was a master of the game. Ruthless and conniving, she was not afraid to step over bodies to get where she wanted - onto the throne- and to stay there.

Till the day she died, Tirathana ruled Kaeshana with an iron fist. However, her reign left many problems that would plague her successors. Her insistence on isolating Kaeshana from the rest of the Galaxy shielded Eldorai traditions and values. However, it also protracted the Eldorai's technological backwardness, leaving them vulnerable to outside aggressors in the long-term and more dependent on foreign patrons such as Firemane when they tried to catch up.

Though her propaganda machine claimed otherwise, she was not the next in line to the throne when Tirathana V passed away. However, Tirathana did not let such legal niceties deter her. So she did what any claimant did: Gather a coalition of allies, promise them a stake in the realm, take control and topple her rivals. Those who refused to bend the knee were purged or banished. The throne was hers by right and all who opposed her claim were enemies of the realm.

This included the Evora royal family. The Phoenix Crown was theirs by right, but while Tirathana might not have had the legal right, she had the martial right. Following past precedent, she declared her enemies heretics, for as Star Queen she was not just a temporal ruler, but also the viceroy of the Goddess Ashira and High Priestess of her Church. Thus the Evoras were banished from Kaeshana, the Eldorai homeworld. They found refuge on Corellia. If this were a fairy tale, then the 'rightful Queen' would have returned one day to reclaim her throne. The commoners, who undoubtedly despised the 'usurper', would have welcomed her with open arms and the peace and justice would have been restored to the realm.

However, reality is more complex and less idealistic than a fairy tale. Like most exiled nobles, the Evoras did not accept their banishment. They became fixated on returning to power. This obsession was particularly strong in Princess Taenarys, who had been very young when she was forced to leave her homeworld and cast out into an unfamiliar Galaxy. Raised in the belief that the throne was hers and that she had been denied her birthright, she would style herself as the Queen Across The Stars, who was destined to return.

Ironically, back on Kaeshana, an army deserter charlatan claimed to be an Evora pretender called Aspasia and led a bloody insurrection against the Crown. But the rebels' brutality alienated their supporters and they were crushed. The Evoras' crusade to claim the throne would prove to be the undoing of their family. By the time this drama was over, only Yseult Faerin, a bastard daughter of Aspasia, and her half-brother Elénariel were left standing.

The children were brought up in the belief that Tirathana was an evil usurper. None of the children was as fervent as Taenarys. Perhaps it was because she was the oldest. She had also seen her aunt Aspasia get dragged away for execution. Either way, as she grew older, she became obsessed with obtaining justice. Her mother Taenya had encouraged such notions and tried to build alliances with fellow exiles.

Taenarys took control of the family after her mother was murdered by royalist agents. She entered alliances with sellswords and launched a crusade to free enslaved Eldorai from bondage. Of course, she expected them to flock to her cause. Taenarys was a pragmatist and willing to use unorthodox methods to get what she wanted. Thus she approached Loronar and purchased an HRD at great expense. This assassin droid was called Caerys Argente.

The droid soon proved herself as a spy, assassin and infiltrator. She fended off an attempt on Taenerays' life when a treacherous advisor tried to have the pretender murdered. She also assassinated a rival Eldorai exile leader who had refused to submit to the True Queen with a speeder bomb and made it look like a royalist attack. Sometimes Taenerys took her to her bed chamber for stress relief. Another of her missions involved infiltrating a slaver ring on Nar Shaddaa that preyed on Eldorai. Caerys allowed herself to be 'sold' to a slaver, taking advantage of her ability to pass as an organic. Once inside she sabotaged the security systems and armed some slaves. Taenerays' warriors were able to slip in through the backdoor she had opened. A good number of the freed slaves joined the would-be queen's cause.

However, many Eldorai regarded the machine as an abomination, for its existence violated the Goddess' laws. Taenarys grew increasingly paranoid about treason after a confrontation with a rogue Eldorai priestess called Sahome Tyral. Sahome had been declared a heretic by Tirathana VI for publicly attacking the sale of indulgences by the Church of Ashira. To escape certain death, the priestess had gone into exile. Taenerys wished to sway the firebrand to her cause, but the two came to blows during an audience. Sahome regarded Taenarys' foreign liaisons as heresy and questioned her right to rule. She was immolated by Taenerys' command, but managed to calm the flames.

This led to the pretender losing face. The spymistress of her shadow cabinet attempted to assassinate her. However, Taenerys used the droid to scan her food and drink for her. Knowing that she would be purged, her traitorous minion faked her own death. However, Caerys discovered that the healer who had examined the body had falsified her report. So she conducted her own investigation. After interrogating the medical examiner and ascertaining that the body had been a fake, she tracked down the spymistress. Her ability to mimic voices came in handy. The traitorous advisor was burnt alive, for Taenarys wished to make an example.

Even though the confrontation was Sahome had diminished her support base among the Eldorai exiles, Taenerys was still determined to reclaim the throne. The recent events had made her unstable and abrasive. Time was not on her side. So she launched an invasion. Caerys was charged with infiltrating Santaissa and assassinating the Star Queen. She was deployed in advance of the main force, using smuggler contacts to land on the planet unnoticed. However, she soon ascertained that a lot of intelligence she had been given was faulty.

A contact turned out to be a traitor and had to be disposed of. Though the droid increasingly found that her orders were illogical, she was bound by her programming to complete her mission. However, while she was able to get close to the Queen by assuming the identity of a guard, her assassination attempt failed. She fought Tirathana's Angelii bodyguards. Caerys had some experience in fighting Force-users and had more modern weapons, but the elite warriors were dangerous even for an HRD. Caerys slew an Angelii Captain-General, but was badly damaged by elemental fire and part of her body was crushed by a terramancer.

Meanwhile, Taenerys' invasion ended in failure. Once the tide of the battle turned against the rebels, she was betrayed by her sellswords. The mercenaries captured her and handed her to the Queen. However, in Tirathana's eyes there were guilty of supporting an usurper. First she pretended to pardon them. They received wine and amenities, but then were subdued. They were dragged through the streets of Santaissa, exposed to the taunting, rubbish and fists of the common rabble, then hung from towers by their hands until exposure and shock killed them. This was supposed to demonstrate that foreign devils were easily defeated by the 'might' of Eldorai arms.

Taenarys' fate was no kinder. Tirathana offered her 'dear cousin' a crown of gold, and so the Angelii poured molten gold over Taenarys' head. She then created a mould of Taenarys' head in gold and kept it in her chambers. Meanwhile, Caerys had been disabled. Tirathana ordered the mechanical abomination to be destroyed. However, one of her courtiers took an interest in the 'metal demon'.

Thanks to foreign contacts, the courtier knew a bit about droids. Bribes enabled her to secure and study Caerys' chip. It was implanted into an, in Caerys' eyes, inferior droid body. Upon reactivating the machine, the courtier questioned the droid at length about her capabilities and the outside Galaxy. The courtier was delighted to hear about Caerys' assassination protocols. The droid was able to convince the Eldorai to have her rebuild instead of turned into scrap. Her adjutant was less so, for she declared the metal demon must be destroyed before the Investigators noticed the deception.

Thereupon the courtier ordered Caerys to demonstrate her capabilities. The assassin droid did so, snapping the aide's neck. With the help of an alien engineer, the courtier was able to rebuild Caerys somewhat, though the reconstruction was sloppy. For the subsequent period of time, she performed missions of assassinations to help her controller advance in rank by eliminating or besmirching their reputation. When the courtier was appointed as a governor, Caerys helped make her look good. However, it was not to last. The courtier was assassinated by Dark Eldorai rebels in a terrorist attack while Caerys was elsewhere. A glitch in her programming caused her to shut down after learning her controller had perished.

When her former owner's minions found the 'metal demon', they grew fearful of being discovered. Their dead patron's rise had been the cause of envy and they feared that the dreaded Investigators of Ashira's Truth would hold them responsible for the droid's existence. So they quickly sold the HRD to off-world traders to get the metal demon out of the way before the secret police could take an interest. Thus Caerys travelled around space, crudely patched up and having to obey a group of spacers, whose dealings were sometimes more on the illegal side. Caerys' combat skills were just as useful as her ability to blend in among organics.

She learned a lot about navigating the underworld, treacherous hyperspace routes and fooling patrols. She distinguished herself when the freighter was boarded by Bando Gora raiders, saving the crew from ferocious Reavers. Her owners eventually sold her to Varisanthra Lycaeni, an Eldorai dissident and businesswoman. Vari had fled from Kaeshana to escape court intrigue and accusations of treason and was an avowed enemy of the Eldorai Matriarchy and the ancien régime.

Vari rebuilt the assassin droid and upgraded her, using her mechu-deru powers. Caerys found her new controller interesting to work with. Vari was a curious mix of Eldorai and human. A radical iconoclast, she rejected the superstitions and prejudices common among her people. She also treated the machine quite well. Caerys served as her bodyguard and enforcer.

Vari had started her business career as a smuggler, but was now branching out into more legitimate ventures such as interstellar banking. Caerys was dispatched to deal with delinquent debtors and provided personal protection to her controller. As Caerys knew from her own experience, the Eldorai exiles were a fractured community that were often just as hostile to each other as to the Crown. She took down Eldorai terrorists who targeted Vari because she had refused to 'make a contribution to the revolutionary cause'. Vari, who felt isolated from her people, preferred the company of humans and aliens to that of most elves. Sometimes she played Dejarik with Caerys.

The two were soon caught up in the Clockwork Rebellion. An AI called OMNI assumed direct control over droids from across the Galaxy. Major worlds of all galactic powers fell under its control. The pair happened to be on Coruscant when all hell broke loose. Unfortunately for Caerys, her upgrades and advanced programming did not make her immune to being infested with nanites.

As a result, she turned on Vari. The two had been close for years, but Caerys was a machine. The two faced off in mortal combat. Caerys was a lot stronger and faster, so she was able to overpower her. However, Vari drew upon the Force. Using her mechu-deru abilities, she was able to free Caerys from Clockwork's hold on her. Incidentally, this also set Caerys free from the protocols that made her obedient to Vari.

Until now Caerys had regarded organics as amusing creatures to be watched like ants. But one of them had just risked her life to save her. Vari had been injured during the confrontation and more droids were coming. Caerys saved the wounded Eldorai and got her to safety. After a thorough examination, it was determined that the Clockwork nanites had been completely purged.

Caerys continued protecting Vari for the duration of the crisis. But once it was passed, she had time to ponder her new state of being. For the first time in her existence, she was not bound to a controller. While she still believed that droids were objectively better than organics, she had developed a new appreciation for the latter. She wanted to see what the Galaxy had to offer and chart her own course.

Surprisingly, Vari agreed to let her go. Perhaps she could empathise with the droid a bit given her own background. Caerys would still occasionally do missions for her. Over the next couple years, Caerys worked for various factions. Given the many wars and low-intensity conflicts, an assassin droid was never jobless for long. She remained politically neutral, but manifested a strong distaste for both anti-droid and genocidal droid supremacist factions.

She never stayed in one place for long, but made a point of learning all she could. Organics, with their short lives, myriad cultures and languages, interested her. For a while she hunted Jedi for a Sith Master but eventually soured on him when he tried to reprogramme her. This ended poorly for him and led Caerys to the conclusion that working for totalitarian groups was ill-advised because they would seek to take her freedom away.

Caerys worked for the decaying Omega Protectorate during the Netherworld Event. She participated in missions to reclaim worlds such as Duros, Vandelhelm and Naboo as well as the abortive reclamation of Eriadu, where she faced Bando Gora Reavers again. During this time, she came to know a young engineer called Amnell de Portiers, who was suffering from a disease called Quannot's Syndrome.

Caerys was able to see past her facade, but the woman's spirit and determination impressed her. Moreover, she was a skilled machinist and thus able to upgrade Caerys' dated droid chassis. Thus the two entered a mutually beneficial partnership. Caerys acted as her guard. Among other things, she saved her from a kidnapping attempt. Eventually the two parted ways. Caerys did some mercenary work, participating in the Mandalorians' campaigns on Ord Radama and Toparawa.

However, Caerys' time was not entirely spent with bloodletting and espionage. She was curious as to the nature of the Eldorai and their mysterious origins. The Eldorai believed that the Goddess Ashira had made them in her image and had created Kaeshana for them. Being a logical droid, Caerys dismissed that. During her travels she had uncovered information about the Rakata and a possible connection to the elves. The information she uncovered led her to a forgotten world called Tygara, which had been isolated for millennia.

Caerys discovered a Rakata site, but was buried in a cave-in after it self-destructed. The trapped droid had to slowly and painstakingly clear rock and rubble over a period of several months. She appeared out of the rubble battered and damaged, to the awe and fear of the local inhabitants. She found herself on Yarkul, the southern continent of Tygara. The natives were a low tech race of wood elves who called themselves the Vashyada. In appearance they were similar to the Eldorai, but radically different in way of life and beliefs.

The Eldorai's traditions were isolationist, centralised and authoritarian. Only the first applied to the Vashyada. They lived in harmony with nature and venerated the Light, but as Caerys learned they were also strong fighters. Her initial contact with them was awkward, for they had no knowledge of droids. Eventually she was able to communicate with them. Indeed, her arrival was fortuitous.

The Vashyada were deeply disturbed by the disappearance of many of their people, for the Netherworld Event had not left their world untouched. They sought the guidance of the prophetess Tylania, hoping that she could help their lost loved ones return. The Vashyada Paragon had slept in a stasis pod for millennia. The Vashyada did not know the technology involved. The Vashyada druids eventually allowed the 'ghost' to help them access the pod and revive Tylania. Upon awakening from her slumber, Tylania did not appear to be surprised by Caerys' presence. Perhaps she had foreseen it. Regardless, the prophetess was able to guide many lost Vashyada back home. Caerys got the chance to converse with her, learning more about the enigmatic wood elves and the distant past of the elves. She also helped them defend themselves against incursions.

Meanwhile, changes took place in the Galaxy. The Eldorai were forced to evacuate Kaeshana in a Great Exodus after learning that their homeworld was doomed to be destroyed by an asteroid. Most of them were able to escape with Firemane's help and settled on Tygara. Caerys was there when a Firemane delegation arrived in Yarkul to negotiate with Tylania and the Vashyada monarchs. The droid later shared her findings with Vari.

She associated with Firemane for a while. The Silver Sanctum Coalition had formed a partnership with the corporation. Caerys found this theocratic confederation to be strange, but spent some time investigating it. It was Jedi-dominated, yet preached tolerance, decentralisation and freedom and one of its backers was a megacorp run by a 'Dark Jedi'. Caerys had no investment in religious squabbles, but knew from experience that organics were obsessed with them. She was sceptical about the longevity of this social experiment.

When the Barsen'thor was unveiled as the Coalition's new flagship and visited by Coalition dignitaries, Caerys was hired to help with security. Unsurprisingly, a group of rogue Sith tried to infiltrate and steal the warship. Jedi and soldiers battled them. Caerys engaged a group of Sith and their minions. First she took down hostiles with a shattercannon. She took down a Sith by using a bolter and then breaking his spine.

However, a Twi'lek Sith tried to deceive her with illusionary copies. Though battered by lightning, Caerys was able to see through the deception by noting that only one of the Twi'leks had a heartbeat. Ignoring the illusions, she hurled a gas grenade, which mucked with the real Sith's ability to use the Force. Caerys body-slammed her into the ground and stomped on her throat.

The tide turned against the raiders, but one of them was able to lob an ion charge and damage Caerys. Seeing that the battle was going poorly, a Sith Acolyte suddenly begged to be spared, declaring he had never been really a darksider and had been forced to follow the 'Dark Master'. Caerys could not let such illogicality stand and so she used the remainder of her processing power to silence him with a barrage of blaster bolts from a concealed wrist blaster before shutting down.

The Barsen'thor would see action at Ruusan, where the Coalition was defeated by the Sith Triumvirate. When Firemane had a falling out with the Coalition, they sold the warship to the Galactic Alliance. Lady Kerrigan was uncomfortable around thinking machines, especially those she did not control. So Caerys disassociated herself from Firemane and went back to wandering.

Around this time, she had a run-in with Archangel. While ostensibly a legitimate droidmaker that specialised in HRDs, it was actually a genocidal machine cult that wanted to wipe out organic life and usher in the Age of Steel. The HRDs sent a squad to give Caerys a 'join or die' invitation. She dismissed their plans for purification as illogical and they attacked. Her attackers were a newer HRD model and thus more advanced than her, but she had experience on her side. Caerys was badly damaged but managed to prevail. Repaying her debt, Vari recovered her chip and provided Caerys with a new body by salvaging one of the Archangel assassins. The two parted as friends as close as two very different beings could be.

Caerys briefly took an interest in the Metal Lords, a nomadic droid faction that had suddenly appeared in the Core, taking control over Denon and other key worlds. However, she concluded that their cause and methods were contradictory, as the group was highly feudalistic and lacked a central government. Moreover, she did not quite understand why droids who become space nomads out of fear that their hidden droid planet Mechanus would be discovered by organics had decided to lay claim to planets populated by huge numbers of organics.

More recently, Caerys started working with the Shadow Knights, a group of Eldorai dissidents and nomads. However, she retains her independence and reserves the right to come and go as she pleases. She got into contact with the group after being stranded in Otherspace. There she met Ylaea Althena, a somewhat eccentric Eldorai who had once been a Jedi Knight before going rogue. Caerys and the Shadow had to work together to defend themselves against aggressive Charon and get back to real space. Ylaea recommended Caerys to her friends Kaida and Eyrecae. Thus the adventures of the Eldorai Replica Droid continue. Doubtless her travels are not about to end any time soon.
