OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Burc'ya
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Yuuzhan Vong Shapers
  • Average Lifespan: 100-700 years.
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
  • Description:
They are absolutely massive snakes, with deep gray scales, with neon blue highlights and giant fangs. Their scales are thick and powerful, with little to no gaps, and are similar to the consistency and protectiveness of beskar. They are coated in power glands that help offer additional defenses, and their spikes are rearranged by the power glands to create mono-molecular edges

Their bodies contain many spikes and ridges, with deep pockets in their flesh that contain micro-ecosystems. Two Dovin Basals exist connected to them, growing as they do. Colonies of Scree nest inside the pockets.

They are capable of existing in space, as well as on most forms of planets. As a species they do not need to breathe in order to create energy or to expel waste gases. As gases collect in their bodies, they can then be superheated and expelled with great destructive force. They exude acid and poison gases when they desire to.

They are capable of flight, due to internal organs that produce a repulsorlift like effect, along with the two dovin basals. This includes being able to enter hyperspace.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION

  • Breathes: Type - IV
  • Average Diameter of Adults: Average (32.1 meters); Maximum (96 meters)
  • Average Length of Adults: Average (300 Meters); Maximum (900 Meters)
  • Skin color: Gray-Blue
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions:
Young: While young the species are relatively small, at between 2 and 5 meters, nearly identical to amphistaff in all important distinctions, except that they are more traditional snake-like. They are highly intelligent, and able to hunt on their own, or be used by sentient beings in the same fashion as an amphistaff. They have power glands across their body, making them highly resistant to lightsabers, blasters and other attacks. They are able to manipulate their body into mono-molecular edges. Their bodies contain a powerful acidic venom that can be injected in bites, or spit. A small immature dovin basal rests inside them, growing as they do. It’s unable to manipulate gravity at this stage.

Adult: The adults are massive creatures, healthy, and powerful. Adult Burc’ya were apex predators able to survive in space, as well as on most planets. They are finally able to fly through the air, for a limited time in gravity, and space due to internal organs acting like repulsorlifts. Their two symbiotic dovin basals are also fully grown and provide a powerful form of locomotion. The internal cold fusion process is in full effect and allows them to expand gathered gases into powerful blasts out of their mouths.

Elder: As they reach the end of their life, the blue color fades, and they grow much weaker, unable to utilize their powerful breath, or to escape a planet's pull. This is a short period of time for them, only lasting ten years at the most before their bodies succumb to age.

  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: Force Dead
Strengths:
  • Defense: They are well constructed, with strong powerful bones. Their scales are thick with the consistency of beskar, the power glands millimeters above their scales provides extra defense from blasters, lightsabers and fighter weaponry. The two Dovin Basals also add their traditional pseudo black holes to absorb incoming attacks.
  • Offense: They are powerful, able to wrap around ships and squeeze, crushing hulls under intense pressure. They can expel superheated gases from their mouths at great distance, with great force, twenty-thirty times the force of an average turbo laser. Their spikes were mono-molecular, which allowed them to slice through many types of materials. They could spit out a highly corrosive acid great distance. When on a planet, they could produce a toxic poison gas that would fill the area they were in. The poison was primarily a paralytic type.
  • Flight: Like the Duinuogwuin which they were genetically based on, they could fly due to internal organs that worked similarly to repulsorlifts. They were aided by their symbiotic dovin basals, which allowed them to traverse space. The creatures are quite quick and maneuverable while in space.
  • Symbiotic Ecosystems: The telepathic creatures were large and colonies for ecosystems in and of themselves. The creatures that nested on them were driven by an internal need to protect the host and could be called upon to do so. Scree made up the bulk of the creatures, however, other space faring creatures were not unheard of.
  • Space: They could exist in the cold/intensely hot vacuum of space, or at deep pressures and heavy gravities. The fact they didn’t need respiration to survive made it so they could stay in space indefinitely.
  • Force Dead: The force cannot directly affect them. This means protection from mental tricks, and so much more.
  • Shield Slipping: They produce a powerful field around their bodies that can absorb energy. This can weaken forms of conventional shielding, and allows their bodies to slide through them. However, this can be stopped with specially designed shields that can protect from ION/EMP attacks.
Weaknesses:
  • Gravity: While they can survive inside a gravity well, their movement is much slowed, and they actually have trouble in the air. They will tend to only use their airborn ability to enter and exit a planet’s gravity as it puts heavy strain on their bodies. They will tend to stay on the ground or in water.
  • Weak points in their mouths, and eyes: These places are not covered by their thick scales or their power glands, making a direct attack here, even with hand held weapons quite painful, and potentially deadly.
  • Overwhelmed Defenses: The Dovin Basals can be overwhelmed by staccato fire of lasers. They can also be overwhelmed by much larger main weapon systems. The scales and power glands are designed more for the protection against light arms and fighter weapon systems. They will be destroyed by turbolasers.
  • Poison: The poison they unleash on the surface can affect any allies they have as well as their enemies.
  • Force Dead: They are unable to be affected by positive force abilities such as force heal, or force valor.
  • Lots of food: The beasts need large amounts of food to sustain their bulk. When starved they can go berserk and attack anything around them.
  • Water: They can go without air, but they still require large amounts of water to survive.
  • Fire: Pure jets of fire, can harm them quite well, as the sustained heat overcomes their natural defenses.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivorous: Can eat standard plant and animal material, however, it can also eat mineral materials such as rock, ore, and metals. They also can absorb energy. They have trouble with synthetic plastics.
  • Communication: Telepathy/body language
  • Technology level: Standard.
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior:
  • Burc'ya are a very small numbered race. They place great emphasis in family, loyalty, and mate for life. They choose their mates while still in their young stage. It almost happens by chance, they just like the feel of the other, and begin to explore their planet together, and in adulthood, the galaxy together. Almost inseparable the two will always be found together. They will mate and find a planet with a large amount of water, where egg-like lumps will fall from the female, and grow into polyps, with three juvenile snakes. In time they will grow large enough, and separate from the polyp and hunt the ocean on their own, then the land. During this transition, they will find their own future mate from one of the groups that survived.

As a species they are intelligent. They can use tools, and utilize other people to accomplish goals. While not fully sentient it is a possibility for future generations. However, they acknowledge complicated emotions, and things like loyalty to their families and those who have helped them. As they grow to adulthood, their more powerful abilities begin. Once they are able to leave the planet behind, they return to their parents and will gain their own colonies of scree. They will hunt through space and planets within their territory. In time, the mated pair will return to a planet to reproduce again. However, this can take centuries in some cases, making their numbers quite small. Especially due to potentially high deaths in the youth stages.

They keep to asteroid belts or the outer rubble of solar systems. They devour asteroids, and the creatures found there. The beasts catch comets and other frozen cosmic ice to keep up their water intake. If they manage to strip a system clean, they can always hop to the next one.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Towards the end of the first Yuuzhan Vong war in the galaxy, a small group of shapers grew desperate for a weapon to turn the tides of battle. To this end, the shapers first took the form of the Amphistaff, and spliced it with the giant space slugs to give them expanded size. They experimented on captured Duinuigwuin. They isolated the genes that allowed the organs for their organic repulsorlifts, and the process that allowed them to expel gas. The end result was terrifying, but not quite manageable.

To this end, they added in the genetics of Yammosks, giving the creatures telepathy and the ability to dominate smaller creatures to their will. This added intelligence allowed the shapers to control them easier, in some cases anyway. Next, they added in the genetics of the Raen sovra. This allowed them to go without air, and survive the deep cold of space. It also formed a natural ability to absorb energy that was close to them. In turn this made a good way to get through most forms of deflector shields to attack ships directly.

Two dovin basals were placed inside them, and they grew alongside the snakes, which gave them even more abilities. However, something went wrong. The samples escaped, the war ended, and no one saw these creatures for quite some time.

It took hundreds of years, but the plague provided the perfect opportunity for them. While they never thrived naturally, they at least survived in a small group. In the far hidden corners of the galaxy they are known as omens of good luck, for if a planet is used as a hatchery by them, the adults tend to protect it from harm. If a sentient being protects one when it's small, or assists it in a time of great need, they will have a companion for life, often two. As such, they were carried across the galaxy, and saw many things.

They seem to gather near certain planets at certain times, and have greatly avoided the battles in the galaxy, content to live their lives day to day.

Hello - Overall, this is an interesting submission. There are a lot of moving parts. Just one thing...
As a species they are intelligent. They can use tools, and utilize other people to accomplish goals. While not fully sentient it is a possibility for future generations. However, they acknowledge complicated emotions, and things like loyalty to their families and those who have helped them.

These creatures are listed as semi-sentient, however, they read as if they are currently sentient. I would suggest double-checking that. A Wampa or an Arkanian Dragon aren't half as self-aware as these creatures are.

Tag me when you're ready for me to take another look.

Srina Talon Srina Talon My apologies, but the Semi-Sentient species are so mixed its hard to know which side they fall on. Flesh Raiders, Coruscanti Ogres, Ranat, and Yommosks, are all listed as Semi-Sentient as well. But have much greater intelligence than a rancor/wampa/arkonian dragon.

Do you feel I need to change the semi-sentient part to full sentient?
