Description:
Realizing that with the new Herglic Big Gun that a sizeable niche market in bounty hunters and soldiers of larger species would be lost to Seinar Army Systems Blas-Tech sought to create a new heavy pistol to hopefully gain the loyalty of fringe groups like the Darkwater Security systems. A challenge was issues to several of the departments of Blas-Tech to come up with various designs, but in the end the bid was one by a division no one expected, specifically PharmaTech. The revolutionary design combines technology from modern blasters along with ancient slugthrowers named “revolvers” most commonly seen in pre-space species. Rather than carry a typical BTI-EOU powercell and garnering a few shots from it as say, “The Woebringer” would, “The Finisher” garners all of the energy of the powercell into one enormous bolt, firing with enough power to render conventional armors useless, not unlike a lightsaber cutting through durasteel. Rather than the blaster be done at that however the BTI-EHP(Extremely Heavy Pistol) “The Finisher” actually has six separate powercells in one chamber, and simply rotates from one powercell to another.

While this design is innovative and extremely powerful, it is not without its drawbacks. The automated process of de-integrating and re-integrating a powercell with galvan circuitry, while much quicker than traditional reloading of a heavy pistol, still is not particularly swift, and as such the firing rate of The Finisher is noticeably a bit slower than a typical heavy blaster. Street gangs have been known to modify Finishers to speed up this process, but such modifications void the Blas-Tech warranty and often result in a critical misfire, namely an explosion. Improperly loading powercells often has a similar result. An explosion created from either of these circumstances normally has a radius roughly half the size of a thermal detonator, with the same potency.

As for reloading the weapon itself it is a rather time consuming effort. New customers are recommended to carry a more conventional side-arm in case of running out of ammo while in combat, as reloading can take an inexperienced user anywhere from half a minute to a minute, not to mention if said customer has issues with imprecise flippers, fur, or otherwise unspecialized digits. An experienced user can manage inconsistent reload times of around ten seconds, sometimes even nine when under the effects of adrenaline. With the use of a speed loader(sold separately) consistent reload speeds of under four seconds can be achieved, but one must be exceedingly careful that said speed loader was loaded properly, is used properly, and is not vulnerable to being targeted by blaster fire before usage.

Due to the extreme amount of energy generated per shot using the blaster extensively, say firing three or four clips in the course of ten minutes, can cause overheating, melting the gun itself and risking a potentially explosive misfire. The exact amount of shots that trigger this is of course variable based on the temperature of the environment, a man on Hoth could shoot for an hour without issues while a man on Mustafar would struggle to fire an entire clip. To help protect Blas-Tech customers the Finisher will beep when it reaches near-critical temperatures, indicating that there is only a couple of safe shots left before overheating. By purchasing a Finisher one agrees that s/he will follow the advice of said beeping and that any injuries assumed by firing after a Finisher beeps is the sole responsibility of the customer.

Weighing in at a hefty 5.5kg heat generation and reload times are the not the only issues The Finisher has. Though large species, say a Herglic or Togorian, will be able to use it as a powerful though slightly unwieldy weapon smaller species, such as say humans or near-humans, will find making consistent accurate shooting all but impossible without the assistance of professional body-builder type strength, bi-pods, or some other sort of enhancement. Notably a Mandalorian Crushgaunt would not provide the overall necessary strength(though it would help quite a bit), as the reactive fiber enhances the movement of the muscles it’s adjacent too, and as a result would only enhance the strength of the forearm.

Overall Blas-Tech would like to think if their Woebringer’s blast is akin to that of an average human’s punch, the blast of The Finisher is akin to the punch of an average Togorian, in power and size. Sadly however this does not grant any additional recourse against lightsabers(unless the deflection is low, in which case it’d likely destroy hands), as Luke Skywalker was able to deflect the laser cannon of an AT-AT in the Dark Empire comics. However Finisher customers do take solace in that more often than not, they need only land one shot.
