OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Create Turbolaser Equivalent of a railgun for the Bryn'adûl Conquester ships.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Railgun
  • Size: Extreme
  • Weight: Extreme
  • Ammunition Type: Massive superheated metal spikes
  • Ammunition Capacity: 1

  • Reload Speed: Average
  • Effective Range: Long Range
  • Rate of Fire: Very Low [One at a time]
  • Stopping Power: High
  • Recoil: High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Bypass Shields: Fires at incredibly speed, able to bypass energy shields and attack the hull directly. But can still be stopped by Particle shielding.
  • Superheated: The ballista shots are massive, and superheated. This allows them to rake through the hulls of vessels, causing massive damage.
Strengths:
  • Heavy Damage: Able to bypass energy shields and obliterate the plating of ships, these Crusader Ballista's can cause massive damage to enemy vessels.
  • Distance: Due to the incredibly speed at which these projectiles fire, they can cover great distances.
  • Speed: These projectiles travel faster than standard laser rounds.
Weaknesses:
  • One at a Time: Every round fired requires an active reload in which the new bolt is placed in the shaft and primed by the railgun. This obviously slows down the rate of fire considerably.
  • Recoil: This weapon requires realignment after every successful shot.
DESCRIPTION:
The Crusader Ballista's were built in tandem with the newly introduced Spiker rifles, avoiding the heretical use of such flimsy implementations as laser cannons and blasters. Crusader Ballista's are
primarily used on assault craft, typically Conquester's and other Planetary assault vessels.

Hello, This submission is being pulled for re-review.

Currently, this weapon has a lot going for it. These are some nitpicky things that you aren't required to make, but would make the submission clearer overall.

Intent: Create Turbolaser Equivalents for the Bryn'adûl Conquester ships.
Classification: Railgun
These contradict one another? If the attempt is to make a "Turbolaser equivalent of a Railgun" then it would clear up some key points of the submission.

Ammunition Capacity: 400/400
You mention here an Ammo Capacity of 400, but then state that it can only fire one shell at a time? So wouldn't the ammo capacity of a loaded Railgun be One(1) round?

Now that those are out of the way, The following are things that I am requiring either an explanation, or edits of the capabilities of the weapon system.

Bypass Shields: Fires at incredibly speed, able to bypass particle shields and attack the hull directly
It does mention it can bypass shields, but make no other mention anywhere else in the submission HOW it performs this action? While the spikes can be superheated, thus doing extreme thermal damage, but superheated doesn't provide the ability to pass shielding. Let alone Particle shielding, which is specifically meant to defend against physical based rounds.

The intent is fine. However, here is where it lays.

Physical shielding/Armor, I am fine with it being mentioned of being able to do so. Many times in IRL, there are Calibers of rounds that while small in size, move significantly faster, and thus have Armor Piercing capabilities. IE, The 5.7x28 mm rounds. A very small, but extremely fast pistol caliber that can pierce armors that are supposed to be rated for pistol caliber rounds.

However, that is not how Particle Shielding works.

Particle shielding is able to stop ANY physical object attempting to break through its shielding. In fact, the faster a round would move, the more EASILY it could prevent the round from breaching it. As it is energy based, and only requires just slightly more energy to stop it.

The submission was reported due to this ability to bypass shields without having any previously mentioned material, or canon listing of rounds capable of this.

As such, This is a required edit. Not a suggestion.
