Brothers in.....paws?

Remus

Wolf-boy
Character
The forest floor of Endor was often a quiet one. Nothing ever happened there, and it was peaceful. That is, until two brothers decide to romp around and play. Running through the forest was a barefoot boy and a gray wolf, both nudging each other playfully. Though Remus was older in years, him and Cainis were both physically and mentally the same age. A light smile crossed the boy's face as he was knocked over by the wolf. Falling down with him, Cainis fell on top and began licking his face. The intense licking was followed by laughter and petting from the boy. The two were happy, and nothing would break the bond that they shared.

On a far less happier note, Vulpesen found himself sighting as he swatted at large bugs which flew around his face, attacking any ammount of skin they could find. Taking a small break from the front lines, Vulpesen found his vacation interrupted by Zarro's request to d a small bit of scouting, hoping to find a few boar-wolves to place in his shops. "The things I do for him." By his ear, Vulpesen could hear Ace snapping up at a bug, attempting to get a small snack. "Is there anything you won't eat" The ashlan wolf responded with a smack of his jaws, swallowing the unfortunate insect after a quick chew. "Crazy fox."

As he moved forward, he heard a ruffling in the bushes. Having become an experienced beast tamer, Vulpesen leaped to a nearby tree branch and prepared himself for a boar-wolf beast trick, only to find a rather scruffy looking boy playing with a wolf. "Well, that's a new one." @[member="Remus"]

Almost oblivious to their surroundings, Remus and Cainis continued to roughhouse in the leaves. However, a few minutes later, the wolf stopped and sniffed around. Did he smell something? Mimicking his brother, Remus sniffed the air, eventually looking up. What he saw was very strange. A being just like him, but with a different looking fur. He cocked his head at the strange man before barking and backing up with a small noise in the back of his throat. Due to the reaction, Cainis took a stance in front of his brother and began in a low growl.

Vulpesen raised an eyebrow at the display, absentmindedly petting his own companion as he sent calming waves towards the opposing wolf. He didn't know what was going on with this person, but he was starting to get the idea that he was not used to human company. Still, he himself came from a canine culture and several attitudes were quite easy for him to notice. Slowly descending to the ground, Vulpesen tool a relaxed sitting position, waiting for the others to respond. Showing authority in the territory of another person was bad manners, and being raised by a great merchant and senator of Amar, rude was something that Vulpesen tried to avoid when meeting new people.

As the strange man dropped down and sat not too far away from the two, Remus poked his head out from behind his brother. Much to the obvious dismay of Cainis, he slowly made his way out of cover and sat next to his brother, almost mimicking that of the other human. His head still cocked to the side as if he were studying the man, his curious eyes washed over him. Being safe, Cainis walked up to the newcomers and sniffed the man and his companion for several minutes.

Vulpesen had had strange days and had met even stranger people. This took the cake. He couldn't quite recall a time a human boy had barked at him, and he could remember fewer times he had the need to use beast speak to talk with another member of his own species. Seemed that ever since he had left his home on Amar, he had found himself in one strange situation after the next. "Hello, My name is Vulpesen Espadus Torrevaso. And exactly who are you?" His voice carried through the force, using both beast speak and his regular voice. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to understand him, but having a miniature wolf on his shoulder would probably classify as having something of a translator. @[member="Remus"]

As Cainis continued to sniff the intruders, the bipedal one began to speak. Though he used beast speak in his voice, Remus still had no clue what was being said. Instead, he scooted up and studied the man further. Reaching a hand forth, he gently tugged on the stitched fur, poking and prodding it at his leisure. This warranted a low bark from the wolf, as if telling him to back off. Cainis was still in the process of deciding whether or not the human was safe.

Vulpesen heaved a sigh as he noticed the human's inability to understand him. He'd have to find someway past that. As for Cainis, Vulpesen was sure that the wolf could understand what he was saying. "If I were trying to harm you to, wouldn't I have done it from the tree where you couldn't reach me?" Such a sentence would be too much for most non sentient to understand, but having spent plenty of time with Ace's telepathic nudges, Vulpesen had learned to compress even these ideas to simple things that the wolf could understand.

Snuffling at the words, Cainis stopped his inspection and laid down. Seeing this as a token of trust, Remus scooted even closer and continued his own curiosity-induced poking of the strange man. Cainis seemed to understand and trust him, which was weird in itself. Lookin up at the tiny creature on the shoulder, he reached up to touch it.

Ace smiled and rubbed his head against the hand of the unknown human. After all, being bonded to Vulpesen didn't mean he couldn't accept the hand of a friendly stranger. Still, he found it rather curious that a human had come so close to this wolf, and he turned his attention to the creature, using Vulpesen as his voice. "And how exactly did you happen upon this young person?"

Remus gave the creature a small smile as it rubbed its head against his hand, and stroked it's fur softly. Meanwhile, Cainis looked at his brother after he was asked the question, then turned his attention back to Vulpesen. Since he could not speak, he summoned multiple images in his head, memories of when he was a pup, the boy saving him, and his mother taking him in to become part of the wolf pack. He then lowered his head to the man, figuring that if he could communicate with a wolf, he could read his mind.

Vulpesen looked to the wolf boy, catching a hint of his intentions through the force. He wasn't much of a mind reader, but Ace was able to give him the training to sense through various thoughts and general ideas. He had never done this with anyone other than the Ashlan wolf, but now was as good a time as any to try. It took him a moment at first, but soon he was starting to shift through the languages, piecing together what he knew through being a son of a merchant. Eventually he started to shift in and read what @[member="Remus"] was trying to tell him. "So, that's what happened to you."

Cainis nodded, yelped happily and nuzzled his nose into Remus's chest. A smile covered the boy's face as he brought the wolf's head close, petting it. Looking at the man once more, Cainis hoped to show him the bond between the two. Maybe then he would understand that they were indeed brothers, if not through blood, then through time.

Vulpesen watched the interaction, smiling as he finally understood what was going on. He could see that they close when he had arrived, but now he understood the depth of the bond. Something that was certainly on par, if not larger than the bond he shared with the Ashlan bond he shared with ace. To be honest, he didn't know how to react. Brothers or not, he thought that this boy deserved to meet civilization, but he was not so cruel as to separate him from his world without permission. He was certainly not cruel enough to separate him from what seemed to be his brother in nature. @[member="Remus"]

After they finished their cuddling, the two looked up at Vulpesen, Remus with a sense of confusion and curiosity, Cainis with a sense of understanding and recognition. He had seen plenty of humans before, and protected his brother from them in the past. Cainis could usually repel whatever attacks had come their way, but he had never understood why they were so interested in the boy. Now, he looked into the man's eyes and found some understanding. They wished to take him away from his home planet. As the realization washed over the wolf, he compiled another set of images for the man to look over. These contained more proof of their bond, like he was trying to explain how imperative it was they they not be separated.

Vulpesen nodded to the wolf and and relaxed against the tree of earlier. "If you wish, i can take you both to Coruscant. I've got the connections to give you both rather nice living places, and it would be quite a change in pace from where you are now." It wasn't meant to imply that Endor was a bad place, but Vulpesen had the personally inability to stay in one place for too long, instead he preferred to try new places and head out on adventures. Still, beast speak tended to revolve more around ideas and thus he was fairly sure that the latter reasoning would be taken isntead of the former. "Regardless, I'm not sure if the boy should stay here. Best he find a place among his own species. Preferably that place includes you at his side, but that place should exist none the less. After relaying a similar message to @[member="Remus"], Vulpesen waited for their answer.

A look of confusion passed over Cainis's maw, while Remus continued to absentmindedly pet the wolf's fur, still not understanding th other human. Cainis thought for a second, but nothing came to mind under the word "Coruscant". Looking at the man, he cocked his head in confusion. He understood the concept of them leaving their current planet, but had no knowledge of any others.

Vulpesen chuckled, realizing the isolation that locals of this planet lived with. Working with his memories, Vulpesen mentally painted a picture of large metal buildings and the humans and other species which lived upon the surface of the Republic's capitol. "There, the boy may learn to speak in other tongues and perhaps make a better life for the both of you. After all, wouldn't it be best for him to be with those of his own kind so that he could learn more of his origins?" Once again, he turned to @[member="Remus"], using the force to impress the ideas of leaving and learning to be with other humans. It was difficult, but he was starting to learn how to communicate with ideas more than words, something that would likely help should he ever find himself in another rare language barrier.

As the images flowed through Remus's head, he stopped petting the wolf and looked up, wondering what his brother would decide. A world with giant metal trees? It seemed impossible to him, but something told him th man was showing the truth. Processing the words of the Jedi, Cainis nodded his massive furry head, but also sowed him through images what would happen if it was a trick. Relaying images of blood and dismembered limbs emanated themselves from his mind, and he growled low to make his point clear.

Vulpesen nodded to the wolf, easily sensing his concerns. Reaching into his robes, Vulpesen produced his lightsaber then sent a few memories of his greater battles with sith to the wolf. The gore that the wolf was afraid of was joined by explosions, people being hurled by invisible hands, and people being friend by the lightning of a person's hand. To verify these memories, Vulpesen activated one of his blades and easily burned a large gash in the tree behind him before deactivating the weapon and storing it away. "Unless you have information that the republic would value, I would have no reason to bring you there before killing you. If I was going to kill either of you, then there is high likelihood that you would have been deceased in the first ten seconds of your meeting." He tried to be kind with his words, but he still realized the harsh reality behind them. His beast taming was likely strong enough to immobilize the wolf, and the boy had no real weapons, let alone anything that could stop a saber. He had absolutely no intention to fight, and even of an inclination to kill people. @[member="Remus"]
