CT-312 stared at the projection hovering faintly in her HUD. The turquoise background with a crude cut out image of herself to the right. A rifle resting in her hands. Text in large, informal script. She slightly tilted her helmet. “... BARCA.”

Her visor dimmed slightly as she reread the line. “I’m a scout. I notice things. Like you.” That part made sense. “This is redundant.” CT-312 muttered quietly. “She is already aware I notice her. I am her guard.”

CT-312 looked at the eCard again. It wasn’t wrong or a lie. It especially wasn’t exaggerated or manipulative. It was… plain. Direct and simple, like her. “To friends?” She murmured under her breath. The thought about how without duty and assignment, where did she stand with the Princess, Quinn Varanin ?

“—Wait.” Too late. A soft confirmation tone chimed though her helmet.

CT-312 went completely still. A full second passed. Then two. Her gloved hand came up to her visor. Fingers pressing lightly against as if she could physically push the moment back into containment. “...Not again.” Her voice low and controlled, but with the faintest of strain. “I’ll have to go explain this to her…”
