| The Bri-Tor & Keph Combine is a union of three separate mining guilds and mining unions - Bri Refineries, the Tor Mining Collective, and the Keph Mining Concern - that united to form a larger conglomerate as a means to collective bid and bargain for better wages and working conditions. Each individual guild that makes up the greater Combine specializes in an area of mining operations or processing - such as Bri Refineries focusing on the processing of the raw materials that are provided by the Tor Mining Collective and the Keph Mining Concern. They are some of the smallest corporations that remained within the Southern Systems during the Confederate First Mandate and are staunch supporters of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Working conditions as a whole are carefully watched, with facilities constantly undergoing maintenance and utilizing droids in place of organic beings for the most hazardous of jobs in a given facility. Strict safety measures are also observed with Bri-Tor & Keph maintaining some of the highest safety specs and directives when compared to similar industries or corporations. Likewise, the Combine ensures that they are not overly destructive in their mining - often preferring to locate uninhabited stellar bodies [planets, moons, asteroids, etc] to mine rather than grinding a planet into dust and moving to the next. |
| HISTORICAL AND GENERAL INFORMATION |
| Prior to the Confederacy First Mandate, Bri Refineries, the Tor Mining Collective, and the Keph Mining Concern had already been struggling in regards to their individual capacities and operations as they were pitted against larger corporations. It wasn't until those same corporations fled the Confederacy - leaving behind a vacuum - that the three separate corporations combined their operations, holdings, and material resources, in order to form the Bri-Tor & Keph Combine. However, this newly established corporation still continued to struggle - and until recently had been on the verge of bankruptcy - saved only by the inclusion of Trendivar within the Confederacy of Independent Systems and also due in part to the establishment of the First Consolidated Confederate Reserve by Von Sorenn Industries. Stepping in - the First Consolidated Confederate Reserve purchased the outstanding debts of the Bri-Tor & Keph Combine and reorganized it into a subsidiary - its sole purpose now was to continue mining and processing precious metals and materials for the sole purpose of ensuring that the Confederate Reserve Notes would be backed by a hard currency when needed. |
