It wasn’t exactly everyday that Sunam was given a job of his explosive expertise. Granted it wasn’t like Sunam had not expected it since he knew it was only a matter of time. A time when he must build connections and expand his knowledge over modern technology. It was required to ensure the survivors of his people and family prosper as they advanced into the universe. Or at least that's what the Phantom had been telling himself as he often finds himself in a questionable state. The kind of where he questioned his expertise would be used to bring all kinds of suffering if he wasn't careful.

Fortunately what Sunam was tasked to do was to make a tank suitable for both land and aquatic environments. A hybrid of sorts with a wide selection of armaments for both environments. On the first thought, Sunam had ruled out that sonic based weaponry would be the type that can be used in both land and water. One of his large floppy ears twitched at the notion of testing sonic weaponry. Granted whenever he's testing his inventions, Sunam always wore ear protection. Sonic however was always difficult to ignore. His keen hearing is both a boon and a bane of his existence when it comes to sonic.

From what Sunam was told, he wasn't going to be alone in this endeavor. A fellow engineer was going to work alongside him, and while this brought relief. It also made him worry on the risk of being paired with an egotistical scientist whose arrogance would be sufferable to say the least. Even so, Sunam patted down his worry as he simply looked at the near future with optimism. No point in sweating about a possibility after all.

Garbed in a leather jacket with a short sleeved grey shirt underneath it. Paired with leather trousers and boots, technically it was armor Sunam knew wouldn't stop a vibro weapon from cutting through. On his belt is a holstered blaster pistol, and there was a second belt of his common tools that any engineer couldn't be without. Slung over his shoulder was a backpack that contained a variety of essentials from snacks to sets of clothes. Granted he knew he could always retire to his company-owned ship, but Sunam knew himself well enough. Once he gets started on a project, sometimes his enthusiasm robs him of sleep.

The designated workshop looked like a warehouse if Sunam was perfectly honest. The city was cramped with many buildings of both residential and commercial. Fortunately for Sunam that the workshop had its own space albeit there was really only one entrance/exit for a vehicle to fit through. The Asa'nyx lightly scratched his chin as his mind took the size of the entrance into consideration.

"For something to comfortably fit through that hole, I'd wager that it'll be a two man crew. One for driving and the other for the main guns. If we do make the bloody thing long, then a quadruple legged model with a segmented body would work too. Like an electric eel with legs." Sunam mumbled to himself before the small sentient walked over to the personnel entrance. He proceeded to knock on the durasteel door as he spoke up.

"Excuse me, it's your friendly neighborhood engineer requesting permission to enter your humble abode."

Mila was beyond nervous. She’d worked with fellow engineers before, but always on direct orders from the CIS, never for a private contractor. So she was on her way to a workshop building that appeared to Ben a warehouse. And she found another, a man, presumably her partner, knocking on the durasteel door. She approached him cautiously.

She was a small, curvy and healthy, she had blue skin and her lekku were laid over her chest. She wore a white, skintight croptop and black pair of pants, also skintight. At her left hip was a small pouch. She tapped his shoulder.

“Um, hello, are you here about the engineering job? If so I think you’re my partner.

After about what seemed like a minute, Sunam began to think that maybe there wasn't anybody home. Or maybe they just had those neat headsets that dampens sound. Sunam certainly uses those because of his sensitive hearing, but even then he could still hear conversations. The small sentient raised an arm to knock louder until he heard a soft voice spoken from behind him. The Phantom turned his head and frankly was more surprised that he didn't need to tilt his head like he's trying to look at a skyscraper or something. The source from what Sunam could tell was a small Twi'lek, albeit she was a bit taller than he was still. The mention of partner peaked his interest as he raised a brow with his large ears laid low along his copper hair. It was something he's used to doing to minimize outside noise and it allowed him to focus on the conversation without being distracted.

"Is that right? Well then partner it seems nobody's home yet, but my name is Sunam." Sunam introduced himself before he reached up to the electronic pad next to the door and pressed what he assumed was the open button. Instead he got an electronic noise that Sunam understood to be incorrect.

"Bugger it. Of course it can't be that easy." A click of his tongue could be heard before he turned to reach into his backpack. It was easy access as the Asa'nyx brought out a chip. It was a plain looking chip that had a gray matter appearance. Sunam proceeded to press the chip against the electronic pad as a thin red light enveloped the chip's shape. After a couple of seconds had gone by, a buzz could be heard along with a mechanical click. The short sentient then witnessed the once immovable door slid open to reveal a spacious workshop equipped to suit whatever needs they needed to get the job done. There was even a scrap section where Sunam could see a couple of interesting parts. What caught Sunam's eye was the sight of a bongo submarine hoisted up in a large harness.

"A bongo eh? I reckon they want us to make something off of this gungan craft?" Sunam asked Mila before he stepped inside of the workshop. Granted the deal was to make something of a tank for both land and aquatic. If nothing else, they are to construct a militaristic submarine capable of defending against the marine predators. Druckenwell proved to be a good testing ground with their oceans that split each major city from each other.

"Mila," she said as he introduced himself. "It's nice to meet you."

He mentioned that no-one was home and she reached into her hip-pouch to bring out the key card she had been given, but he had already broken in. Oh well.

She followed him in and looked around the workshop. She spied a large computer off to the side. She guessed that if was for designing and development blueprints and schematics for the submarine tank.

She herself was a fan of more traditional forms of weaponry, even regarding guns. She had gone through old designs, as in pre-interspace travel designs. And she came across weapons that used solid metal projectiles, and she was even working on a proposal for a redesigned version of one to be made and tested for use in interstellar warfare for the CIS.

So she was probably going to propose the use of a harpoon of some sort, or a solid projectile cannon since most shields regarding physical objects anticipate low-impact, proportionally speaking that is, not a ten meter tungsten rod flying at Mach 15.

So her mind regarding weapon design would be put to work first. His knowledge of explosives would definitely be useful.

The twi'lek introduced herself as Mila, and to say the least she was a bit polite. At least more so than some of the other engineers Sunam has worked with in the past. There was one sufferable engineer that Sunam took an internship with, and it was through said engineer that the Phantom acquired his knowledge within the explosive department. Not to mention the specialty had always been Sunam's forte even when he only knew of primitive technology. From mixing together sap encased in hard clay with a twine fuse for a handy yet primitive fragmentation grenade. Or even that one time when he ensnared a nexu that tried to hunt him into a corrosive net. Of course back then Sunam learned these skills out of necessity for survival.

As he looked upon the bongo, Sunam knew that some ideas wouldn't have worked. Of course they could keep the look and attached weapons to it. However, that would simply be modifying it, and frankly he wasn't that well versed to make his own ship from this model.

"I hope you have a general idea of how to make a submersible tank out of this. Perhaps we could make use of the technology, but I'll admit this is the first time I've messed with a bongo." Sunam admitted to her. Perhaps that was why he was paired with Mila, but he could absolutely guarantee that was the reason. When it came to weapons that was his department, he had to ponder as to exactly what would be good for both land and water. Obviously sound and electricity would be the go-to.

Either way he'd set down his backpack next to the workbench. Then Sunam would take the time to examine the bongo personally for any weapons it might have. It was best to see what manner of defense Gungans has used, but to Sunam's understanding bongo was used for exploration and transportation purposes.

“I can put an idea together. I’ve never modified anything before, I’ve taken ideas and mixed them together before, but I’ve never actually modified something like this before. The obvious things to do is to add armor plating, tracks or hover drives and some weapons. If it’s underwater we’ll need some penetration weapons, maybe a harpoon of some sort, or an old-school torpedo system.”

She was looking it over as she talked. He was the explosives expert so he’d know best how to put together a torpedo or what the best form of propellant to use for launching a harpoon or railgun. She looked at the computer.

“I can design a tank to go under the water and on land, and you’ll need to develop the weapons systems. Tell me how they work and provide blueprints and I’ll work them into the schematics.”

Sunam's intuition was correct about Mila's skills as her analysis proved to be highly beneficial for this job. He listened without interruption as Mila laid out her plan. She was correct to place him under the weapon systems section while she worked on reinforcing the hull itself. The Asa'nyx nodded his head in agreement with her decision.

"A harpoon eh? I believe I have just the thing." Sunam looked into the blueprints of the bongo and he could see where the harpoons could be installed. On his own datapad, Sunam took notes of the submarine's layout before he began to sketch what could be best described as barrels installed in pairs next to the cockpit. Of course he added the fact that each barrel would have a thick casing at the base as Sunam made more notes about making a magnetizing container using electricity. Essentially, turning the harpoons into a high speed bullet that could function even underwater.

"The railgun was a good idea, but the problem comes up that the harpoon would need to have a magnetic field for the electromagnetic force to propel said harpoon into whatever beastie that threatens it." Which for Sunam that wouldn't be a problem as most metals that harpoon are made out of; contained enough magnetic fields that it would work in theory. However, the next part Sunam subconsciously scratched his head as he began to ponder what form of sonic would be a good weapon or a good defense.

"A sonic cannon, a electrical shield, or possibly a sonic sphere… so many choices, yet hard to decide which one to go with as a second primary weapon." The small sentient pondered as he stared at the screen of his datapad.

She watched as he quickly put together a first blueprint for the harpoon propeller. She nodded as he essentially made it a railgun launcher, not quite what she had in mind but definitely a viable option. But he was in charge of weapons, and she would work on the sub itself. So she let him work.

“We could include an iron core. Or we could use an alternative propellant method.” She suggested.

“I’ll let you work. And I’ll get started on my end,” she said before going over to the computer and pulling up a few basic schematics of various things, one of which was the sub. They needed to decide on whether to use tracks or hover drives. Each had their own benefits. And she also altered the sub’s shape a little bit, added a few minor schematics for ways to stow the tracks if they decidedly on that.

She began to bring up a number of prototype schematics, and put them aside for review and redesign later.

“Yes, those can work too. My main concern is that the strain would be too much on the engine. An electrical field would serve as a good defense mechanism against marine lifeforms, but not so much against thermal bolts such as from my blaster for example.” Sunam spoke as he rummaged through his mind as to what path he’d want this tank to go. However, memory served that there were in fact some marine creatures and even other submarines that can produce similar effects if not resistant to it. Perhaps that would always be the risk when it came to any weapon. As there was bound to be some kind of defense to counter said weapon, or at least mitigate the damage it would normally inflict.

In the end, Sunam scrapped the electric weapon idea and pulled up the sonic cannon. It was a singular cannon that produced a concentrated burst of sound that reverberated the air until it impacts against an object. Or so Sunam had hypothesized from his previous experiments. Sunam would rather avoid making such noisy weapons, but if there was anything more devastating underwater it would be sound as it carries far from the source. As he pulled up the second blueprint, Sunam leaned back into his chair before he turned to see Mila hard at work.

“This is just a suggestion, but I recommend adding sound dampeners within the tank to protect the crew from sound. Whether it is underwater or on land, sonic can be quite disorienting and damage their hearing.” He suggested as he watched her work. Weapons had always been his forte, albeit he could work around building something as long as he had a blueprint in front of him. Not so much as creating one from scratch or doing significant modifications to it outside of weaponry. As such, he always respected other engineers who can do what he is poor at, but then again Sunam rarely gets angry at anyone. Except being shot at as that always switched a survival mode.

“True, we’ll need to put in some kind of shield generator, since we can’t exactly put too much armor on it if we’d want it to operate well in water.” She said half to him half to herself. “But what kind of shield should we use?”

She began to half-mumble ideas and running several separate calculations and running several kinds of formulas. She also had to calculate the tensile strength of the metals used, since water pressure didn’t only matter on how deep, but also the gravity of the planet, so they needed to give the sub a lot of crush resistance.

After fifteen minutes she had a number of MK-1 schematics.

A shield generator was always the main thing Sunam designed weapons against. To overcome and/or pierce through the deflector shields and strike into the heart of the beast. In the water however, the normal shields wouldn't work that well considering most don't interact positively with water. Usually said shields were designed to ward off thermal and kinetic energy. Frankly Sunam was not that versed with Gungan technology, but he’s certain they potentially developed a shield generator that’s operated by water. Perhaps even following the hydroelectricity source of power, but the small one wasn’t certain.

“So Mila, is your home breathtaking as Naboo or the rustic comfortable type?” Sunam inquired as she worked on the Mk1 blueprint. Whether she answers or not, the Asa’nyx looked over the blueprint of the harpoon railgun once more. Thoughts ran through his mind as he pondered on what he could do to improve the lethality of the harpoon. Other than the launcher, most primitive ranged weapons that involved bows or even spearheads often coated the projectiles with poison or explosives attached near the head. As he had done so many times beforehand to overcome larger predators and equivalent threats.

“Poison is no good in water since the water would just wash it off. Not to mention the targets may not always be a beast, but another machine. So that prompts the use of explosives. Meaning that I’ll have to make a custom set of harpoons that has an explosive chemical contained in the head.” Sunam muttered to himself as he jotted down his notes into his datapad. As he leaned back to recollect himself momentarily.

“Illerium? No, that needs air to activate. Rhydonium? It is a fuel, but ineffective really underwater. Maybe Baradium? Baradium Nitrate?” His mind dug his knowledge in the explosives and ordinances from chemicals to mixing components for a volatile reactionary. The last bit he frowned to himself after he said it.

“The nitrate would work, but very hard to get my hands on.” Then Sunam fell silent as he propped his left cheek with his relaxed fist. His mind pondering on the possibilities, or rather how to get his hands on Baradium specifically. After a few minutes had passed, Sunam glanced around the workshop, and frankly he was beginning to reconsider the chemical.
