- Primary Source: Med Unit.
- Manufacturer: Breshig War Forge Consolidated.
- Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated, its subsidiary Strill Securities, Mandalorians and Closed-Market.
- Model: 'Iu'yaniyasa Nukciur' Automated Modular Medical Bay.
- Modularity: Can be scaled up or down depending on the size of ship or vehicle.
- Production: Mass-Produced.
- Material: Duranium frame (room and med unit), Duranium-reinforced Duraplast composite armor plating (room and med unit), Agrinium mesh, Anti-Corr 113, Combat de-ionizer, bacta tank components, med unit components, various electronics and medical tools.
- Bacta Tank(s) - Ships smaller than fifty meters typically only have two at most.
- Automated Medical Unit:
- Sensors/Optics
- Supplies:
- Tools:
- Laser Scissors
- Laser Cauterizer
- Laser Scalpel
- Antidote Synthesizer
- Bacta Pump
- Hemodialysis Pump
- Osmotic Field Generator
- Defibrillator
- Flash-sterilizer
- Field Cauterizer
- Flexclamp
- Pressor Generator
- Medical Diagnostic Computer
- Interdermal Injection System
- Anesthetics:
- Drugs/Medicine:
- Vaccine/Antivirus:
- Carapace Knitter Injectors
- Memory and Processor(s):
- Portable Survival Pod functions.
- Holographic Interface/Display: Using the on-board scanners and computer systems, the system provides complete diagnosis and treatment suggestion as well as active real-time monitoring of the patient via a holographic interface/display. It can be set to highlight affected areas of the patient. Additionally, it can be used to walk untrained personnel through the processes of preparing a patient for treatment or immersion in a bacta tank.
- Manual Override: Organic or synthetic medical personnel can pause or stop automated medical treatment and/or diagnosis and take over from the unit.
- Medical Bay Link: The entire medbay can provide patient information to organic or droid medical units via a specialized data link.
- Comprehensive Toolkit and Medication: The sheer array of tools and medication allows the med unit to treat all manner of injuries and perform all manner of medical procedures, from basic first aid to complicated surgery.
- Advanced Medical Database and Heuristic Learning Capability: The med unit possesses an advanced medical database from which it draws its knowledge from, however, it also possesses the capability for heuristic learning, allowing it to learn from its experiences treating patients.
- Bacta Tank: For injuries to severe to be treated by the med unit, the medbay typically comes with at least one bacta tank.
- Machine: Despite the measure taken to protect the medbay against EMP/Ion damage, powerful enough weapons fire directed at the various components of the medbay or a powerful enough surge through the ship's power grid can permanently damage the various components.
- Assistance Required: The med unit can't move patients to the bacta tank or prepare them for immersion in it. Though capable of instructing untrained personnel on how to prepare patients for immersion in a bacta tank, it requires them to do so.
- One Patient Per Bed: The med unit is unable to treat multiple patients at once, which means that small medbays on board dropships or gunships can easily be overwhelmed in emergency situations.
In an ideal situation, medical personnel, whether they be droid or organic are always available to treat those in need. That said, war is far from ideal, and is by nature an inherently unstable interaction of three things; intense emotion, politics and luck. Breshig War Forge Consolidated decided it best not leave the lives of their personnel to the mercy of any of the above, and so developed a medbay that could diagnose and treat a patient without a specialist being present.
The medbays are designed to be scalable, whether for use on a gunship or a vast medical ward aboard a large capital ship. The med unit possesses an advanced medical database from which it draws its knowledge from, however, it also possesses the capability for heuristic learning, allowing it to learn from its experiences treating patients. The sheer array of tools and medication allows the med unit to treat all manner of injuries and perform all manner of medical procedures, from basic first aid to complicated surgery. For more severe injuries that require a bacta tank, the medbay typically comes with at least one bacta tank.
Unfortunately, there are some limitations. The med unit can't move patients to the bacta tank or prepare them for immersion in it. Though capable of instructing untrained personnel on how to prepare patients for immersion in a bacta tank, it requires them to do so. The med unit is also unable to treat multiple patients at once, which means that small medbays on board dropships or gunships can easily be overwhelmed in emergency situations. Finally, despite the measure taken to protect the medbay against EMP/Ion damage, powerful enough weapons fire directed at the various components of the medbay or a powerful enough surge through the ship's power grid can permanently damage the various components.
