• Processing and Memory:
  • Heuristically Learning Gunnery Droid Brain: The droid brain's fire authority can be set by an authorized user. It can be set to fire at will, in which case it will engage targets that have a hostile IFF signature or have otherwise been identified as hostile. It can also be set to fire only at designated targets. The droid brain can either then choose the rounds or the user can. Alternatively, the droid brain can be set to acquire and compute a firing solution for a target, but require an authorized user's approval before firing.

• Acquisition, Targeting and Tracking: The whole detection, targeting and tracking apparatus is data fused, allowing all data to be used for all purposes. The data is parsed and processed by advanced data processing algorithms and a secondary advanced Droid Brain with Gabonna memory crystal.

    • 360-degree FOV Coverage Wide-angle Electro Photo Receptor with Electrobinocular (1x - 100x magnification) functions: The Electro Photo Receptors used here have been modified with a number of additional sensor, scanner and imaging systems listed below. They are all built with the same magnification level as the listed Electrobinocular zoom. The view displayed is a composite image created from all the connected systems parsed and processed by advanced data processing algorithms and a secondary advanced Droid Brain with Gabonna memory crystal.

STRENGTHS​

• Built-in Detection, Targeting and Tracking: The system has built-in detection, targeting and tracking, allowing it to detect, track and engage targets entirely on its own or provide fire support to the user without manual targeting or operation of the mortar.
• Networked Detection, Targeting and Tracking: The system's networking capabilities allow it to greatly augment it's own detection, targeting and tracking capabilities.
• Portable: The entire unit is as portable as a backpack, making it an easily portable source of firepower.
• Accurate: The VSAM-01 Verpine Shatter Automatic Mortar can accurately put a round, guided or unguided more or less precisely where the targeting and telemetry data fed to it dictate.

WEAKNESSES​

• Boom: A penetrating shot hitting a volatile round has a good chance of detonating all the ammunition sympathetically.
• Out of Power: The backpack mortar's Rylith power cell ahs enough power for 72-rounds worth of firing, but can recharge in the field with exposure to solar energy. However if there is no solar energy available to recharge the cell and it has consumed it's charge then the system will be rendered non-functional.
• EMP/Ion: Though well-protected against most sources of EMP and Ion damage that might be encountered on the battlefield, any source of aforementioned damage that manages to bypass its protective measures or should said measures be damaged, the devices' sensitive components would likely be fried or in the very least become severely damaged.

DESCRIPTION​

The Tracyaat'ika Birgaan or little artillery backpack was designed to give small special forces units a source of portable artillery fire support. Its detection, targeting and tracking suite was built on the 'Haa'yam'ika' Deployable Sensor Beacon platform and uses the data processing and data fusion capabilities of that system, giving it fantastic detection, targeting and tracking capabilities, and allowing it to leverage them such that detect, track and engage targets entirely on its own or provide fire support to the user without manual targeting or operation of the mortar. Additionally, the system is fully network-capable both via comms and a 'Manda'-style battlenet or any other similar battlenet system that is patched to be compatible. These systems make it possible to leverage the VSAM-01's inherent accuracy.​

The system's compact form factor does unfortunately mean that a penetrating round is likely to hit something important, such as a volatile mortar round that has a good chance of detonating all the ammunition sympathetically. Additionally, the backpack mortar's Rylith power cell ahs enough power for 72-rounds worth of firing, but can recharge in the field with exposure to solar energy.
