• Manufacturer: Breshig War Forge Consolidated.
• Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
• Material: Duranium frame and cylinder, dallorian alloy coated barrel, duravlex reinforced barrel, reinforced duraplast plating, combat de-ionizer, ultrachrome circuitry and wiring, and verpine shatter weapon components.
• Modularity: The weapon can be integrated with a wide variety of weapon systems or be modified to be used as a standalone system if required. It's exterior surfaces can be electroplated or coated in a number of different materials.

TECHNICAL FEATURES​

• Ammunition Capacity: Average. 5+1 120mm mortars in a detachable revolving cylinder. 12 shots from a rechargeable high-capacity Rylith power cell.
• Damage Output: Average. Dependent on ordnance.
• Effective Range: 16,000m.

SPECIAL FEATURES​

• Variable Trajectory: The round's trajectory can be adjusted via data from external systems to place a round accurately onto even the launcher itself if required. This does require correct physical orientation of the launcher however.
• Multiple Fire Modes: The launcher can fire in single, two-round burst and fully-automatic.
• Direct Fire Capable: The launcher can be used to directly fire at targets if required for whatever reason. The results on target will vary drastically with the round loaded.
• Round Selection: The launcher can recognize different rounds loaded into the cylinder and when connected to a compatible targeting and fire control system it can select specific rounds from those loaded to fire.
• Guided/Smart Round Compatible: The launcher is fully compatible with guided rounds, able to launch them on a trajectory that matches that required for them to engage their intended target with minimal adjustment required by the round itself. The launcher also has the capability to pass on data from connected computer systems such as targeting and fire control systems.
• CryoBan Cooling System: The launcher can get got during repeated firing and features a CryoBan cooling system to keep the heat from damaging the weapon or affecting its functioning.
• Autosteady Gyro-gimbal: The gimbal is fully compatible with a number of platforms, such as droids and the like and doesn't impede the weapon's use as part of a larger system.

STRENGTHS​

• Whisper Quiet, No Flash: There is no flash and barely a sound the volume of a whisper when this weapon is discharged, making enemy avoidance of incoming rounds just that much more difficult.
• Accurate: The launcher can accurately put a round, guided or unguided more or less precisely where the targeting and telemetry data fed to it dictate.
• Compact: The launcher's verpine shatter mechanism gives it a tremendous range even with a considerably shorter barrel than many of its contemporaries.

WEAKNESSES​

• EMP/Ion: Though well-protected against most sources of EMP and Ion damage that might be encountered on the battlefield, any source of aforementioned damage that manages to bypass its protective measures or should said measures be damaged, the devices' sensitive components would likely be fried or in the very least become severely damaged.
• Not a Complete System: The launcher is not designed to be used as is, rather integrated into a more complete weapon system that has a dedicated power supply and a sensor, targeting and tracking system.

DESCRIPTION​

The VSAM-01 is a relatively new development by the company, designed to be the mortar launcher the new mortar systems are built around. Being a Verpine shatter weqapon, the VSAM is both smokeless and makes about as much noise as a whisper when firing, and can accurately put a guided or unguided round more or less precisely where the targeting and telemetry data fed to it dictates. The launcher's verpine shatter mechanism also gives it a tremendous range even with a considerably shorter barrel than many of its contemporaries.​
