PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Railgun
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Capital-grade ordnance
  • Ammunition Capacity: Average - Depends on the mounting platform.
  • Effective Range: Extreme - Ordnance dependant, but ordnance is accelerated by the weapon to have a longer range.
  • Rate of Fire: High
  • Stopping Power: Average - Dependant on ordnance.
  • Recoil: High - Dependant on ordnance.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Carousel Ordnance Loader: A carousel ordnance loader allows a variety of ordnance to be stored, and then when a particular missile or bomb is selected by the operator, the loader loads said ordnance into the barrel.
  • Targeting System Integration: The weapon uses the craft's onboard targeting system to measure distance from craft to target to set what sort of velocity the loaded ordnance needs to be accelerated to.
STRENGTHS
  • Versatile: A wide variety of ordnance can be loaded into the weapon, allowing for a truly versatile weapons loadout on whatever platform the weapon system is mounted on.
  • Long Range: The accelerator rails in the barrel can accelerate ordnance to increase their maximum range, allowing traditionally shorter ranged ordnance to be used at longer ranges.
  • Cooling Systems: In order to prevent the large amounts of heat generated by the weapon from melting it, the MMOL-03C has an integrated cooling system that will shut the weapon down in the event of it overheating in order to perform a coolant flush and to allow the weapon to cool down. Most mounting platforms can carry enough coolant for five coolant flushes. In addition, the system helps keep the weapon at optimal railgun operating temperatures.
  • Fast Firing Rate: The weapon has a faster firing rate than most comparable capital grade ordnance launchers.
WEAKNESSES
  • Vulnerable to EMP/Ion Damage: If the launcher actually sustains enough EMP/Ion damage, it's accelerator rails will be permanently damaged, requiring a complete replacement of the barrel.
  • Loader Malfunction: Should the loader, for whatever reason, malfunction, weapon will be unable to fire except for whatever ordnance was already loaded into the barrel.
  • Cooling System Malfunction: Should the cooling system malfunction or become damaged, the launcher will shut down to prevent a critical operating failure, which could potentially cook off ordnance.
  • Sympathetic Detonation: While mounted internally, should a penetrating shot enter the ordnance storage, it could potentially set off ordnance, sympathetically detonating other stored ordnance.
DESCRIPTION
Following their breakthrough with the MMOL-02, the weapons design team at Breshig War Forge Consolidated developed a new ordnance launch system for capital ships based on the same technology. Like with the MMOL-02, the MMOL-03C is essentially a carousel autoloader fed capital-grade FlexTube launcher barrel extended and converted into a railgun. The majority of the weapon's ammunition is stored under, above or behind the mounting location, where ammunition can be ferried and stored from central armories, or stockpiled to an extent. In here, a fully automated loading system loads the autoloader with a preconfigured loadout of ordnance, which can be configured per individual battery.

The MMOL-03C however faces the same problems as the MMOL-02, however. Being a railgun, the weapon was indeed vulnerable to EMP/Ion damage, as a particularly powerful EMP/Ion will permanently damage the accelerator rails, requiring a complete replacement of the barrel. There was also the matter of the loader malfunctioning, such as if the system takes significant damage or power fluctuations, then the weapon would no longer be able to load new ordnance and would be unable to fire. The cooling system, being an entirely necessary component to keep temperatures down, will not allow the weapon to fire should it sustain critical damage. Finally, there's the problem that most ordnance launchers face, and that is of penetrating shots sympathetically detonating ordnance.

Nonetheless, the weapon is not only sold separately, but is also used on most capital grade warships manufactured by the company.

For the rating of Recoil, can you also state that it would be dependent upon ordinance that is used? I am not really liking the idea of taking a ordinance that can be fired with a rating of "Extreme" Recoil and then knocking it down to "High" just because the weapon only has a High Rating.

Otherwise, the weaknesses provided and everything else seems extremely well balanced and would be otherwise an easy approval.
