- Affiliation: Breshig War Forge Consolidated and Strill Securities.
- Material: Duranium frame (weapon and armature), Dallorian alloy coated inner barrel, Duravlex reinforced barrel, Reinforced Duraplast reinforcement, cryoban cooling system, enhanced power cycler, dedicated capacitor component, combat de-ionizer and ripper components.
- Modularity: Can be used with any compatible armor/HUD system. Exterior casing can be electroplated or coated in different materials.
- TECHNICAL FEATURES
-
- Ammunition Capacity: 60-round disintegrating belt feed, 120-round gas cartridge.
- Effective Range: 1000m.
- SPECIAL FEATURES
-
- Armor/HUD Sync: The MHRR-02S syncs to armor HUD and sensor systems. Target acquisition and assignment is done via armor sensor and HUD systems respectively.
- Heuristic Processor: A heuristic processor is included to handle the real-time processing requirements of the weapon.
- Slave Targeting Mode: The weapon can be set to follow the user's head motions, allowing for faster targeting of units not immediately in front of the user.
- In-built 1-250x Extreme Range 'Kyrayc Sur'haai' Optic System.
- Armature folds and stows on the back when not in use.
- Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
- Three Fire Modes: The weapon possesses semi-automatic, two-round burst and fully automatic fire modes.
- Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
- AP: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core designed to act as a penetrator upon impact with armor.
- HE: Deuterium detonator rounds designed to explode on contact with a hard surface with the same force as a concussion grenade.
- EMP: EMP rounds that detonate with the force of a EMP grenade.
- AP-HE: Depleted baradium jacket with a deuterium charge designed to detonate on impact. Somewhat rarer and more expensive due to the higher depleted baradium content.
- API: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core and a blaster gas incendiary charge designed to detonate on impact.
- SLAP: Saboted light armor penetrator round with a depleted baradium penetrator. Better at penetrating armor than a regular armor piercing round.
- Armor/HUD Sync: The MHRR-02S syncs to armor HUD and sensor systems. Target acquisition and assignment is done via armor sensor and HUD systems respectively.
- STRENGTHS
-
- Ignores Ray Shielding: While particle shielding will still stop a ripper round, Ray shielding will strip the energy coating of a ripper round but allow the projectile to pass through.
- Improved Penetration: Ripper rounds superheat the site of impact, allowing for improved penetration of armor and potentially higher damage on target.
- Versatile: The variety of rounds available for the weapon make it highly versatile, able to engage a variety of targets.
- Large Caliber, High Velocity: The MHRR-01 fires energy coated 20x102mm rounds that make it excellent for dealing with a wide variety of targets from heavy infantry in exotic armor to light and medium armored vehicles.
- Resilient: The weapon can take a beating and is resistant to both EMP and Ion damage.
- Over and Through Cover: The armature can fire over or around cover while its integrated optic system allows the operator to potentially see through cover by way of its integrated wallscope.
- WEAKNESSES
-
- Shorter Barrel: The shorter barrel of the S-model results in diminished terminal velocity, reducing the round's stopping power.
- EMP/Ion: When faced with a powerful enough EMP/Ion surge, it is possible that the weapon's defenses against aforementioned damage will be overwhelmed and the weapon's more sensitive components will be fried, preventing it from firing.
- Two Consumables: The weapon must be supplied with gas and ammunition to fire. Failure to provide any of the aforementioned two will render the weapon non-functional. Because of the weapon's slightly lower ammunition, both of these need to be replaced more frequently.
- Overheating: When confronted with extreme periods of sustained firing, the weapon's safety mechanisms will kick in and lock down the weapon to prevent permanent damage. Naturally, this is also dependent on atmospheric conditions.
- Skill Required: While not as prone to factors such as range, elevation and other factors affecting solid projectiles as a traditional slugthrower, a ripper operator must still be far more skilled in accounting for such factors than someone trained to use blasters exclusively.
- Electronic Warfare: Wide area jamming and/or atmospheric interference can decrease the effectiveness and operating range of the optic.
- DESCRIPTION
-
The MHRR-02S is an attempt by the company to further diversify their armor-mounted weapons offerings. The MHRR-02S is at its core, a ripper weapon. As such it carries with it a number of advantages and disadvantages. The utility and the lethality of such a weapon was not lost on the company's R&D team who were fervent in their decision in turning it into a armor-mounted weapon, especially when paired with useful utilities such as the company's 'Tebec Birgaan' Modular Ammunition Backpack.
Ripper rounds notable ignore Ray shielding, which will strip the energy coating of a ripper round but allow the projectile to pass through. That said, Ripper rounds superheat the site of impact, allowing for improved penetration of armor and potentially higher damage on target. This lethality is increased by the fact that the variety of rounds available for the weapon make it highly versatile, able to engage a variety of targets. Additionally, the MHRR-01 fires energy coated 20x102mm rounds that make it excellent for dealing with a wide variety of targets from heavy infantry in exotic armor to light and medium armored vehicles.
On top of these advantages, the weapon can take a beating and is resistant to both EMP and Ion damage. Finally, the armature can fire over or around cover while its integrated optic system allows the operator to potentially see through cover by way of its integrated wallscope.
That said, like most other weapon systems, there are a few disadvantages. The shorter barrel of the S-model results in diminished terminal velocity, reducing the round's stopping power. The other two big flaws of most ripper weapons are the fact that two consumables are consumed and that some skill is still required. With this weapon and its standalone counterpart in particular, there is an issue with overheating during long sustained periods of firing. Additionally, when faced with a powerful enough EMP/Ion surge, it is possible that the weapon's defenses against aforementioned damage will be overwhelmed and the weapon's more sensitive components will be fried, preventing it from firing. Finally, wide area jamming and/or atmospheric interference can decrease the effectiveness and operating range of the optic.
