OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To make a man-portable heavy repeating ripper for use by Breshig War Forge Consolidated, Strill Securities, Mandalorians and select others.
  • Canon Link: N/A.
  • Permissions: N/A.
  • Primary Source: HRR-02 Heavy Repeating Ripper.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Heavy Repeating Ripper.
  • Size: Very Large.
  • Weight: Heavy.
  • Ammunition Type: Gas Canister, Slugs
  • Ammunition Capacity: Small. 60-round disintegrating belt feed, 120-round gas cartridge.
  • Effective Range: Long Range.
  • Rate of Fire: High.
  • Stopping Power: Extreme.
  • Recoil: Average.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Integrated Gyro-gimbal: In order to better balance the weapon both before and after firing a shot, a gyro-gimbal was integrated into it.
  • Integrated Targeting Computer with HUD Linking Capability: The weapon features onboard targeting computer which has the ability to interface with HUD systems and provide provide compensation for various atmospheric conditions, and uses the HUD's binocular mode (if it has one, and is limited based on the weapon's own range when used in this mode) as a magnified optic. Heavy amounts of jamming doesn't affect this feature given proximity between the weapon and the user.
  • Three Fire Modes: The weapon possesses semi-automatic, two-round burst and fully automatic fire modes.
  • Variety of Ammunition: Breshig War Forge Consolidated produces a variety of ammunition for the weapon:
    • AP: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core designed to act as a penetrator upon impact with armor.
    • HE: Deuterium detonator rounds designed to explode on contact with a hard surface with the same force as a concussion grenade.
    • EMP: EMP rounds that detonate with the force of a EMP grenade.
    • AP-HE: Depleted baradium jacket with a deuterium charge designed to detonate on impact. Somewhat rarer and more expensive due to the higher depleted baradium content.
    • API: Armor-piercing rounds with a depleted baradium core and a blaster gas incendiary charge designed to detonate on impact.
    • SLAP: Saboted light armor penetrator round with a depleted baradium penetrator. Better at penetrating armor than a regular armor piercing round.
  • (Optional) Vibrosaw bayonet.
STRENGTHS
  • Ignores Energy Shielding: While particle shielding will still stop a ripper round, energy shielding will strip the energy coating of a ripper round but allow the projectile to pass through.
  • Improved Penetration: Ripper rounds superheat the site of impact, allowing for improved penetration of armor and potentially higher damage on target.
  • Versatile: The variety of rounds available for the weapon make it highly versatile, able to engage a variety of targets.
  • Large Caliber, High Velocity: The MHRR-01 fires energy coated 20x102 rounds that make it excellent for dealing with a wide variety of targets from heavy infantry in exotic armor to light and medium armored vehicles.
  • Resilient: The weapon can take a beating and is resistant to both EMP and Ion damage.
WEAKNESSES
  • EMP/Ion: When faced with a powerful enough EMP/Ion surge, it is possible that the weapon's defenses against aforementioned damage will be overwhelmed and the weapon's more sensitive components will be fried, preventing it from firing.
  • Two Consumables: The weapon must be supplied with gas and ammunition to fire. Failure to provide any of the aforementioned two will render the weapon non-functional. Because of the weapon's slightly lower ammunition, both of these need to be replaced more frequently.
  • Overheating: When confronted with extreme periods of sustained firing, the weapon's safety mechanisms will kick in and lock down the weapon to prevent permanent damage. Naturally, this is also dependant on atmospheric conditions.
  • Skill Required: While not as prone to factors such as range, elevation and other factors affecting solid projectiles as a traditional slugthrower, a ripper operator must still be far more skilled in accounting for such factors than someone trained to use blasters exclusively.
  • Large: The weapon is large and heavy, making it difficult to transport or carry over long distances. Using it in close quarters is also difficult, given the length of the barrel and the bulk of the weapon.
DESCRIPTION
"Suppressive fire, light and medium vehicles, heavy infantry, there's nothing this weapon can't handle. If your target's still standing, you either need a bigger gun or you haven't shot at it enough."
Designed as a man-portable variant of the heavy repeating ripper designed for use on armored vehicles, the HRR-02 is designed to be a powerful man portable support weapon that was intended for use by Mirshir-Jurkad Rammikade and Jurkad Verd as well as the company's Gar Verd series of battle droids. Surplus, as usual, is sold by the company to their customers.

The weapon fires the same 20x102 energy coated rounds the HRR-02, and has access to the same variety of rounds that the vehicle mounted larger frame version does. This gives it a remarkable ability to deal impressive damage against a variety of targets from heavy infantry in exotic armor materials to light and medium vehicles as well as many of the biological monstrosities that walk the modern battlefields. Particle shielding of sufficient strength will likely be able to stop the round, but energy shielding will only strip the round's energy coating.

Reinforced to be able to be used as an improvised melee weapon, or take glancing and/or light direct fire from the enemy, it is also heavily reinforced against EMP/Ion damage. That said, should any EMP/Ion damage actually manage to overwhelm the weapon's protective measures, the weapon's more sensitive components will be fried, preventing it from firing.

The weapon must be supplied with gas and ammunition to fire. Failure to provide any of the aforementioned two will render the weapon non-functional. Because of the weapon's slightly lower ammunition, both of these need to be replaced more frequently. When confronted with extreme periods of sustained firing, the weapon's safety mechanisms will kick in and lock down the weapon to prevent permanent damage. Naturally, this is also dependant on atmospheric conditions. While not as prone to factors such as range, elevation and other factors affecting solid projectiles as a traditional slugthrower, a ripper operator must still be far more skilled in accounting for such factors than someone trained to use blasters exclusively. Finally, the weapon is large and heavy, making it difficult to transport or carry over long distances. Using it in close quarters is also difficult, given the length of the barrel and the bulk of the weapon.
