  • Primary Source: Carbonite Missile.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Carbonite Missile.
  • Size: Large.
  • Weight: Heavy.
  • Explosive Type: Carbonite.
  • Delivery Method: Self-Propelled.
  • Effective Range: Long Range.
  • Area Of Effect: Large.
  • Stopping Power: High.
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Good Tracking: The Dtema has good sensors and a fast processor, which give it a good tracking ability. When backed up by its inertial navigation system, the missile rarely ever misses a target.
  • Fast: The Dtema's engine is powerful, enabling it to close the distance between launch platform and target within a very short period of time.
  • Range: The Dtema is a long range missile, meaning the launch platform has to potentially expose itself to less incoming fire.
  • Freeze: The carbonite can damage equipment not rated for extremely cold environments, immobilize infantry, impair vehicle mobility or even killing insufficiently protected infantry or exposed vehicle crewmen.
WEAKNESSES
  • Large: The Dtema is a larger than average missile, limiting the number that may be carried.
  • Indiscriminate: The missile does not check for friendly targets in the blast radius, and will detonate whether there are friendlies or non-combatants present.
  • Environment: Carbonite freezing is significantly less effective on planets with extremely hot climates, such as Mustafar, and as such the area of effect and even the effectiveness of the carbonite itself can severely diminish in such cases.
  • Environmentally Sealed: Environmentally sealed armor tends to reduce the effectiveness of the carbonite, in that it will likely not kill them, but it still has a good chance of damaging equipment or immobilizing infantry.
DESCRIPTION
"The Bryn...Byrn...how the haran do you say this name again? Who cares. Apparently, they don't like the cold, which means we're going to give them just that."
"I thought this was commissioned by our new boss, alor."
"Well, she didn't have a rousing speech, so you'll have to make do with me."

Commissioned by Luna Terrik Luna Terrik for use against the Bryn'adul, the Dtema-class Carbonite Missile is a modified version of the Cretanr-class Guided Plasma Missile, with the incendiary plasma gas medium container changed out for a carbonite canister. Given that recent Bryn'adul invasions and the concern that raised in the company, Strill Securities also elected to adopt the missile as well, in addition to testing the various prototype batches before final production of the missile beings.

Like the Cretanr, the Dtema uses onboard electro photoreceptors and thermal sensors to further adjust it's course after receiving targeting information from the launch platform, and will use it's maneuvering thrusters to adjust its course so that it stays on target the entire way. Should the missile lose lock, it will revert to a backup inertial navigation system that will unerringly lead it to the last known location of its last acquired target. The missile is fast enough such that even if targets break lock, they're not usually able to leave the area in time. The missile airbursts over its targets for maximum spread.

That said, the missile's effectiveness is reduced by both extremely hot climates and environmentally sealed armor. Additionally, the missile is indiscriminate, as it does not check for friendly targets in the blast radius before it detonates, and will detonate whether there are friendlies or non-combatants present or not. The missile is also both large and heavy, limiting how many can potentially be carried by a launch platform designed with only standard missiles in mind.
