Breath Control (Self Training)

T I T A N
Character
Meta; he stood alone. The lesson of today was breath control; he had the proxy droids set up toxic mines in a secluded area for him to navigate. A maze of sorts, this was what he had to do. He would accomplish this task alone. "Set the course up. If I'm not back within the next hour or so, deactivate the toxic gases and search for me.

Of course the toxic gases weren't lethal. But, most never were. If he wasn't able to control his lungs, it would be painful and there would be a lot of blood. But, it would be a lesson learn't. However Meta had not come unprepared, e had done his research. He knew what he had to do, but as with most things it was easier said than done. Meta took his first few steps into the maze, almost instantly the toxins filled his lungs. Using the force, Meta sustained his focus. However his vision was becoming more and more dated and the air became thick.
Something wasn't going as planned. He was out of site of the droids by this point, he grabbed his chest; his other hand clinging to the wall. "Oo-ooh feth.." He gagged on the air, keeling over he stopped himself with his hands and knee's. He needed to do something, fast.

Meta lay breathless, the inner turmoil causing him to tense up. His mind in a pit of pain; he wasn't going to go down this quickly, was he? CALM the words radiated in himself, and in this time of need. He recited the words of the jedi order. -There is no emotion, there is peace.- With this, he delved deep into his inner core, searching for a memory. Something to calm him. Blood slipped from his gritted teeth. A jarring experience had found its way to him. However, he cling'd to a memory. The night himself and Neveah Fel had danced, the Emperators daughter. Her smile was fresh in his mind, and it soothed his pain. -The force is my ally.- He thought, regaining his breath. The air began to be synthesized through the force.

His lungs were under his control now. He slowly delivered the air to his lungs, compressing the amount needed. He slowly returned to his feet, he felt in control; and he liked it. Making his way forward steadily, he continued to struggle with his concentration. It was a draining process, however he needed to practice this; and in the face of serious pain. This was as good an opportunity as any, making his way forward. Meta navigated the system slowly. Sometimes loosing control of his lungs, blood lined the edges of his mouth. His yellow eyes were all that could be seen through the toxic smoke. His vision returned to him, this was a maze just as much as a toxic trap. If he made a wrong turn he would be in here for a long time.

Two pathways lay ahead, one to the left and another to the right. Sinking deep into memory, Meta remembered the 5 seconds he had to over look the maze. He had moved through two hallways and navigated through the first half of the first section of the maze. His yellow eyes beamed open, the right direction was to his right. Making his way through this corridor, more toxins made themselves known as small hidden mines erected fully and allowed a vast amount of green gases to flood the corridor. However he was in control, not flinching he walked steadily through the dim lighted hallway. Using a low amount of force energy, he repelled the gases out of his face, giving him a clear vision of the pathway ahead.

The toxins had entered his lungs once again, Meta internally sighed. Closing his eyes and refocusing on his lungs. He had slipped up when he had used the force to throw aside the smoke screen. He needed to be able to do both, multitasking was a queen. Meta allowed the air reserves to flow through his lungs momentarily before stopping them again. Then, opening his eyes; he was ready to move forward. -What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger- He thought to himself, a small smile crossing his face. He began to move forward again. The air was cold and thick, but. With Meta's newly discovered power, it was less than significant. Meta wouldn't allow this to slay him, or weaken his pride. He had fought and survived sith masters, some toxins weren't going to stop him.

The navigation of the maze was becoming more and more difficult, as the area became more and more alien, even with his augmented vision. He hadn't seen this far into the dark maze that lay under the temples. However as convenient as it was to have an underground maze, it lead to many questions. But, this wasn't the problem at hand, right now. Meta needed to focus on his breathing apparatus, the force and his navigation. Four routes lay ahead, Meta studied each. He had a one in four chance of going in the right direction, however there were possibly routes in the other choices that may lead to the same path. There were countless possibilities to take into account.

Meta allowed the force to guide him. He closed his eyes, using the already heavily practiced power of force sense to go along the correct path. He went down the path to the right, this was a long mist filled corridor. Meta made his way forward, less focusing on his pace or balance and more on the force and compressed air in his lungs. But, was there a way to do both? Meta focused for a moment. Diverting power to both sides of himself, this allowed for sufficient concentration on both ends, he kept a steady pace and balance and his lungs remained oxidized. Content, he made his way forward. He wondered how far into the maze he was, almost half way there perhaps? Meta was unsure, put he was certain he was heading the right way. The pocket of air he had held in his lungs was holding up well, there were many situations when the likes of Vlad Darrow a Ubese Jedi/Bounty Hunter who had a thing for mines. If he ever ran into him again, this would put a dent in his operations, the thought of getting hold of Vlad caused Meta to smile, but. It was irrelevant at the moment, his current objective was far more prevalent and relevant.

Making his way forward he studied his surroundings, more mines activated themselves, and now filled the path way ahead. Now, able to focus on more than the breath control. He was able to easily push away the midst and continue controlling his lungs and moved forward. He had beaten his first, obstacle. However much of the maze still lay ahead. His mind was focused, he had just taken a sharp left turn. Once again using the force to guide his path. He was lead to a section with seven different options. Two of which, headed upwards and two of which headed downwards. Meta decided to head downwards and forward. Gases erupted from pipes now. These ones hard than the last, Meta had to bull rush his way through them whilst maintaining his control. Taking a moment to ready himself for failure, he pushed forward. The gases were thick and fast. Almost lick liquids, pushing through he separated his body from mind. Using his muscles to control one separately and his force for another. Like he had split his mind in two, pushing through.

He stumbled once he had reached the other side. "Phew.." He gasped, a victorious smile reached his features, but it soon dissipated as he reminded that his mission continued, it wasn't over. Not yet, he was nearly half way there. This, he felt through the force.

Meta gradually returned to his feet. Making his way forward, he ventured upwards. Returning to the original level he had started at, now. However there was only one path ahead. Meta moved forward, taking a moment to check on his lungs. He was still in control, making his way forward he stopped a few steps away from the corridor. Making a close examination of the corridor ahead, he took note of several mines that had been placed throughout the corridor ahead. Moving onward the mines activated, Meta took note of the massive whiff of toxins that devoured the area, but again. He was in control of mind and body, pushing onward. He allowed a little bit of the air to escape his lungs, he didn't need it. The less air he used, the better.

Making his way forward, he could see the dim lights growing lighter. He was at the end of the tunnel, reaching the end of the Maze. Meta had completed the first phase of his training for breath control. Moving whilst using it. The second phase would be fighting whilst using it, and the third phase would be a long process of sitting still in the toxins, see how long he lasted. However, the first stage of usage was complete. He would give himself and hour or rest, then continue on with his training.
