Bounty/Job board advanced

Bounty hunters, smugglers, mercenaries play a huge role in the star wars universe, almost just as important as the Jedi and sith. What i would love to see is a bit more attention brought to them and not talking about making another faction. We have a bounty board where anyone can post up a bounty on a PC or NPC, but there really isn't much organization to it. I was wondering if there was a chance of getting a Staff position soley to be incharge of bounties and jobs. Where they help guide folks (DM if need be) on the task at hand. Keep track and encourage competition.

Also such a position would also be inspired to dish out consequences for PC's, such as posting a bounty (IE: For killing and mass murdering of NPCs).

Just thoughts roaming around in my head and like to see what others thoughts and input on this.

I'm actually planning on creating a Bounty Hunters Guild that will make this type of thing worth it. Pretty sure people will take notice and start submitting contracts and whatnot.

Bounty hunters really don't get enough to play with. When people place Bounties on PC characters a lot of the time those characters avoid public threads until the bounty is forgotten about which is shame, because being hunted is fun. I should know.

I like the idea of there being consequences for a characters actions that have to be dealt with. I'm not talking about killing someones character because i believe that ultimately that should be down to the writer. But things like, stripping them of the force if their and FU for a time period or banished to a prison planet for x amount of days...

IC actions should have IC consequences and it bugs me when people avoid them

@Ar'ekk,

I used to run the Bounty Hunters Guild on the board actually few years ago, the focus shifted to the Marketplace when they opened up their own bounty board, before it was just the Guild, but it's still a doable concept

I would definitely be down for this. There's an unfortunate lack of Bounty Hunter RP that you're able to do here with other PCs, I personally just make up an NPC to go after in a Dominion or whatever, though it'd be real nice to go after actual players more often. I think that a Bounty Hunter's Guild is the best way to go about, sort of just a way to unify the Bounty Hunter's rather than have them at each other's throats as they are right now.

In support of this, I would risk a bounty on any one of my characters lol.

The Bounty Hunters need their place on Chaos the same as the Mandalorians and the Jedi do.

Realistic and responsible reasons for said bounty, of course...-Story driven!

I have to do a shout out. One of the best bounty hunters i have ever witnessed on this site was [member="Julian Valentine"]. The efforts he put into his hunts made it enjoyable for all parties involved from what i could see and hear.

Anyways, so what should we do to make the bounty hunters have a real place on this site? Is it a faction page we need? More colaberation not just between hunters but prey as well? More eyes out there reporting PC crimes where a DM could scrounge up enough story to make actions into consequences?

This thread has inspired to me to take over the existing faction known as The Bounty Hunters' Guild plus the company as well and reform it entirely. You'll see more news in the upcoming days as I finish revamping everything. I'll make sure everything sails off smoothly and will announce it through the LFG forum. I'm certain bounty hunting will become something greater.

From my experience, at least in the past, bounty hunting died down because there was not enough reward for how much hustle it was, what I mean that most rewards back then were just credits, which is basically an arbitrary number that has no meaning on the board because we don't keep track of them so any character at any point could have any amount of credits they desire without actually working for them.

However since then we saw a rise in tech and ship subs offered for bounties as opposed to just credits, as well as restricted materials, various holdings, and just owing someone a favor, which already improves the incentive to go out and do some bounty hunting.

The hustle, however, was making sure that your target was willing to be hunted, willing to entertain the possibility of at least being temporarily captured to have the bounty collected, and they would be able to keep the thread going and not just let it die out halfway through. I got lucky enough to be able to work with RC 212 who was my biggest source of bounty rewards back in the day and was a good sport about being hunted by me multiple times, but many hunters weren't so fortunate. Just improving the communication even before the bounty is set would do wonders, especially if the Guild could work as a mediator OOCly although it will still be difficult at times, to offer alternative in the past I also pushed for more PvE bounty hunts which could still be continued and expanded today.

[member="HK-36"] you are very correct in that communication needs to be priority for any success to be had in a story of bounty hunting. And yes, there are far more rewards to be had now then there every has been.

Typically I try reaching out to see if the person is willing to be hunted and potentially captured before going after it. Wouldn't want it to be a waste of time to go against someone that has no intention and plays unfairly. I strongly advise getting in contact before hand, just as HK said.

Woot! Pretty sure RC has a fat bounty on his head right now.

Working on getting a reply up, running many chars with little time.

Might get an opportunity soon.
