Bounty Hunters? We Do Need Their Scum

Promenade, Nar Shaddaa, Hutt Space

Leaning on a railing that overlooked the vast commercial district of the Smuggler's Moon, probably one of the only areas on the moon that actually had some legitimacy, Taeli was irritated. She had been spending resources to find Kurt Meyer, and the valuable holocron in his possession, but to no avail. She would have thought it would be easy to find the location of one man, a famous Podracer even, but no. Nothing had come up, and her irritation only grew when she remembered how close she had been to the man during the ATC Expo.

Well, the gloves were coming off in this case. She wanted that holocron, to learn the secrets the Emperor had hidden away within its depths. She needed it to complete her research into the Children.

She had sent a message through the underworld, specifically asking for one bounty hunter in particular. She usually did not employ bounty hunters, her own operatives usually could get the job done, but this was a special case. And if the man was good enough to work for Kaine Zambrano on a regular basis, he would be good enough for the Lady of Secrets. Plus, having read her histories, she knew the family name meant results.

PROMENADE

Admittedly, the Sith were among the Bounty Hunter's preferred if not favoured employers. A particularly cruel breed of people, if even that, with a generous amount of credits to throw at anyone who could provide solutions to the problems they faced, and the problems that weren't within the skillset of the traditional Sith. Although, their efforts may have been needed elsewhere, however. The Mandalorian had become well-accustomed to the Sith Empire, finding himself within the presence of Emperor Zambrano, or Carnifex. Fett never truly bothered to understand whether he ran by a moniker or his name. They had the credits, and Fett had the solutions. That is all that mattered.

The Mandalorian had been contacted, requested for a meeting, and as apart of his contract to the Sith Empire was obligated to obey. There weren't a great many things that he honoured, even as a Mandalorian (albeit a poor excuse for one). Fett, above all else, honoured his word and that contract was an extension of his word. However, even then, he was purposely specific in his wording. You could never trust anyone, especially on the Smuggler's Moon.

He had wandered from the interior to the exterior, the bright lights of Nar Shaddaa reflecting upon the T-Visor and the parts of his armour that still allowed some semblance of shine to exist. Fett hadn't spoken a word, but his presence was known. Be it the footsteps against the flooring coming to a halt, or the deathly signature he radiated throughout the force.

"You're as good as your reputation led me to believe, bounty hunter," she said. She had sensed him coming, that blank slate that spoke volumes about the man's professionalism. Taeli could respect that, and she felt the man had some sort of code. Luckily, she wouldn't be asking of him anything that might even come close to violating it. Although, in the back of her mind, she did wish to get a genetic sample of the Fett line at some point. For Spaarti to able to actually create clone soldiers of the Fett genetic line... well an entire galaxy had fallen at their hands.

"I need you to find someone and bring them to Bastion for me, alive," she continued saying.

Of course. There weren't a great many reasons as to why one may hire the infamous Fett. Typically the Sith Empire contacted the Bounty Hunter through more official channels when required to aid in the subjugation of a system. This was clearly something more personal. Of value to the Lady of Secrets.

"Specifics." Fett replied hastily. Already accepting the task, or so it would seem. It was only the information that Fett required now. It wasn't going to take long. It never did. Whatever Raaf wanted was sure to be brought to her doorstep soon enough.

"Kurt Meyer," she replied. "He has a reputation in the Podracing circuit, won a race on a planet called Bahrain about a year ago now. The prize pool from that race contained something I am very interested in acquiring. Eight million for successful delivery of Kurt and any ships in his possession to Bastion, four up front and four when you bring him to me."

She was not going to mention exactly what she was looking for as holocrons had value, even to bounty hunters. They could fetch exorbitant fees on the black market, and this in particular... it could be considered a major holocron.

"Collateral damage is acceptable, I just want him and whatever he is flying. How you go about it is at your discretion, and if you require anything, I will make sure it is at your disposal. Agreed?"

It wasn't a name that was all too familiar to the Bounty Hunter. Admittedly, Fett wasn't one to pay much attention to the races, no matter what kind they were. His only real experience in regards to them was during the brief reign of the Sovereignty in depths of the Galaxy. Beyond that? There was nothing but an empty space where the cogs kept on turning.

It seemed fairly standard, but there was nothing standard about an eight million credit payout where four is offered up front. A lot of questions circulated the analytical mind of the Mandalorian, mainly as to how dangerous this Meyer may be, how slippery, or what the item Raaf was after really was. Certain that it was the item the Sith pursued, not the man himself. There was definitely more research to be conducted, of course. In addition to whatever Raaf could offer.

As Fett stood there, with Carbine slung over his shoulder, he only stood still. It was commonplace, and it was possible the Sith across from him was to become more and more accustom to that if he was further utilised by herself, if not the Empire in it's entirety. Koda had replied, his voice muffled and slightly synthesised from beneath the helmet itself, "I'll need everything you have on him."

That much was surely expected.

"Of course," she said, handing him a datapad from within her robes. It wasn't too much as Kurt had proven rather elusive to track down, and it was even harder to find records within the Alliance databases when it fell. What Fett would have to go off was security footage she had found on Bahrain, giving him a face as Kurt dealt with the gangsters who ran the races there. Those men were long dead, killed at her hand and Connor Harrison's, but she had made sure copies of the files survived.

"If memory recalls, and the announcements here every five minutes are a constant reminder, but a major Podrace event is to take place soon," she said. "I have no idea if he will even be present, but it is a place to start."

It was not much to go on, but she was confident in Fett's abilities. The man didn't have the reputation he did for no reason.

That was sure to suffice. The Bounty Hunter had earned his reputation for a reason, yes, and so very little information was required to identify someone. Every individual lived their life somehow, they owned property, starships, had their names in print somewhere. Even if it meant cycling through legal documentation somewhere, it was a step in the right direction. However, the Lady of Secrets had offered one crucial piece of information. Perhaps absolutely vital, or so it would seem.

Although, as the Mandalorian mentioned early, it was the specifics he was after. "When and where, exactly?" He questioned from beneath the T-Visor'd helmet. A monotonous tone of voice accompanying his still stature. For all the tales that circulated the 'legend', as some have put it, he was certainly a seemingly boring man, now wasn't he?

"The Harvest Day Invitational on Tatooine," Taeli responded. "It should be occurring within the next few days. Plenty of time for a fast ship to make it to Tatooine and scout out the location I'm sure."

She didn't know Kurt Meyer was actually sponsoring the race, as one she had not been paying that much attention to it due to her various duties, experiments, and helping the continued expansion of the Sith Empire. If she had known... she still would send Fett. Tatooine was close to CIS space, not exactly a welcoming part of space for her at the moment. Something about helping cause the fall of the Alliance or something or other like that. Even if all of this amounted to nothing, and Fett wasn't able to bring her Kurt, it would still flush him into the open.

Then she could dispatch Eldaah if needed.

"Is there anything else you will require?"

The Mandalorian hadn't failed to bring in a quarry yet, and he wasn't looking to break that streak. Kurt could run, Kurt could hide, but it hardly mattered; Fett was bound to be there in the end, ready to deliver some poor approximation of galactic justice. To some, men such as Fett appeared to be the law, but they often tread the line that caused a confusion. This Bounty Hunter, however, was something else. He hadn't walked the line, or stayed on one side. Koda created his own, living off a unique set of morals and codes that mattered to nobody but himself. There was no law that he answered to but his own.

Fett gave his brief answer rather quickly, "No." His stance shifting, as if he were ready to leave. "Transfer the four million. Your Emperor has my details." In which he surely did. Working for Carnifex on more than a few occasions, both personally and for his grand Empire as a whole. All about repeat business, and he sensed that it was the Sith that were to remain when these wars were all said and done.

With that, he began to leave. To set out on the hunt.
