ADVANCED SYSTEMS
- Hull Design - See Description
- Hull Design: Could survive full perforations to the hull and remain operational during intense combat.
- Jack of All Trades: The Bothan Assault Cruiser was a do everything workhorse and excelled in almost all areas of combat.
- Lack of Point Defense: No reliable defense against starfighters
- Exposed Engines: With no point defense, poor speed, and poor maneuverability, the engines of the Bothan Assault Cruiser were often vulnerable to attack
- Poor Maneuverability: The Bothan Assault Cruiser was unwieldy even in space. In atmosphere its maneuverability was even worse.
The Bothan Assault Cruiser sported two tiered dorsal and ventral hangars amidships that each held two squadrons of fighters. These two tiered hangars held ships ready to be launched in the top hangar and recieved fighters for repairs and refueling in the bottom hangars and held a complex system of garages and lifts that aided in the quick launch and recovery of the stationed fightercraft. The weapons compliment of the Bothan Assault Cruiser caused in recent years confusion on how the ship should be classified with some systems classifying it as a star destroyer rather than a cruiser. It was equipped with powerful turbolaser and ion cannon batteries as well as concussion missile tubes. The ship itself lacked point defense lasers however and thus relied on its embarked craft to defend it against enemy fighters. Early development of the ship caused some concern in the Confederacy of Independent Systems as it was seen as an aggressive push by Bothan leaders. In a stroke of good fortune for nearby systems, the Bothans instead began selling the cruiser to other nations and systems and used the vessel as a way to grow their economy rather than incite rebellion.
Its sturdy construction, powerful weapons, and impressive fighter compliment caught the eye of many organizations around the Galaxy and the ship began seeing use in all corners of space. Notably, the Corellian Confederation adopted the ship into the Corellian Defense Force where it was often used in pairs or alongside smaller frigates to expand the reach of the ambitious world. The Bothan Assault Cruiser would become almost as common to see in the Corellian Sector as the Strident-Class Star Defender.
