OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Boolon Murr Medical University
  • Classification: University
  • Location: Pandath City, Taanab
  • Affiliation: Taozi Fuyuan Tal
  • Accessibility: Located in a particularly green area of Pandath, the Boolon Murr Medical University is almost entirely accessible to the public, and is quite welcoming to visitors. Areas of restricted access only include the three dormitory towers, and the faculty tower which require student or faculty ID to enter.
  • Description: A very interesting looking university, it consists of six inter-connected towers built almost entirely out of timber. All of the towers are 60% covered in greenery, with extended balconies on one half of each tower dedicated to plants. There are larger, more communal, balconies spaced one-third and two-thirds up each tower as well, with some of them connecting to a neighboring tower. The three towers that get the most sun have solar windows opposite of the plant balconies, while the remaining three towers have wood-shielded windows. One of the towers with the solar windows is the tower for faculty offices and services, while the other two are entirely classroom spaces. The three remaining towers are all dormitories.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Greenhouses
- Each tower holds a greenhouse at the very top floor, each with different plants and types of farming for both eating and aesthetics. Students, faculty, and visitors have free access to these greenhouses. Three of the greenhouses are purely aesthetic areas, with each one having a different theme, with multiple areas for people to relax and find solace in. These aesthetic-focused greenhouses sit atop the dormitory towers, while the remaining three are for farming spaces. Each farming-centric greenhouse employs a different style of farming, which include permaculture, biodynamic farming, and aquaponics. These all provide about 55% of food for the university mess halls, with the rest being transported from local farms All greenhouses are the only spaces in the towers that do not require a visitor to be with a student or faculty member to enter.

Gym and Pool - Built below ground in the center of all six towers is a fully equipped gym space, that connects to a large pool. Each is built mostly under a solar dome, but have area beyond it that is fully below ground. The pool is naturally filtered, and is only 2.5m deep at it's deepest point, and is heated to a comfortable temperature for most species. While the gym is open all 46 hours of the day, it is only free to use for students and faculty. Visitors must pay a small fee, or enter with a student or faculty member to avoid this fee. The pool, however, is only open during daylight hours and only accessible through the gym.

Dormitories - Each of the three dormitory towers contains multiple rooms ranging in size from studios, up to four-bedroom dorms. Every floor has two common areas, one on both the Northern and Southern sides of the floor. The bottom floor of the towers are dedicated to the front desk, mail room, and a cafeteria. Two of the towers are gendered, while the third is mixed with gender separated floors.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
What started as an idea, grew to become a proof of concept, then finally came to actually function as intended. At the rather insistent urging of one of her more frequent tea partners, Darlyn Excron Darlyn Excron , Taozi and her clan finalized their long-shelved plans of a great medical university from which to educate new generations of medical professionals. Formulated before the invasion of Tanaab, the war that took place caused efforts to be shifted to reconstruction of the planet after the dust settled. Even after clan Tal was able to maintain their position on the planet, with the populace in such a situation as they had found themselves, the plans continued to gather dust on the shelf far out of sight. It would take quite a while before anyone even went back to do housekeeping, and likely then would've left the plans be.

But rather than a clan Tal member being the first to rediscover the plans, it was a rather nosey and pushy (obnoxious) Mandalorian from elsewhere in the Concord. The aforementioned Darlyn found the plans and was rather intrigued by them, mostly for how completed they seemed to be despite no building having been made from them. So he took them to Taozi for tea and insisted she build this center of learning. And by insisted, that meant calling her quite literally twice a day until she decided to build the university out of spite.

Since the plans were all but finished, save for important but flexible details such as prime location, there was more time to devote to the proof of concept for the building's self-sustainability. Able to produce proof that the plans drafted would indeed be able to create a near completely self sustaining university, minus food stores which could still be sourced locally regardless, they were able to obtain building permits for a perfect building site. Construction began promptly, and shortly thereafter the university was completed. Without much else to do, clan Tal had been all too happy to put all their effort into the building itself, making the ideas and plans long lost and recovered into reality in what felt like no time at all.
