Blah Blah Blah

What seemed like more than a lifetime ago, Jairdain found herself seeking out one of the people she thought of as a friend. Asa was the padawan that had taken some lessons from her, given her clothing and been just a wonderful person. It was her she wanted to see.

Sending out a quick message of her desire to see her again, Jairdain now waited in the Rest for her.

Not at all nervous, she paced slightly in the room they were going to meet in. Not one of the public houses, but something akin to the meditation rooms that had been on Voss. A room where Jairdain felt at home and was comfortable.

She wore what she was comfortable in and nothing even close to traditional robes. There was also a glow of life around her and Asa might just pick up on that.

Hearing the steps of her friend, she turned to apparently look at the door as she entered with a smile.

@JairdainIf she was honest, this was the part of Silver Rest that Asaraa didn't often find herself visiting. It wasn't that there was ever anything wrong with the meditation chambers, she'd just always found them restrictive, meditation being one of those parts of being a Jedi that didn't come entirely naturally to her.

Which was the complete opposite of her friend, the woman always seemed to at home in one of these chambers, or well anyhere really. Asaraa had seen Jairdain pulling off one of those open back hospital robes with the same aplomb and grace as a queen in her full court regalia. It was one of the things about the woman she so admired.

Well that and the acuteness of here senses, the pink-haird jedi leaned on the doorframe, amusement spilling off her aura into the force as a smile curled up her lips, "I swear I wasn't broadcasting or anyting on my way here...I bet you know where everyone in the temple is right now." Her smile and aura turned decidedly mischevious as a thought struck, the sound of a playful laugh infusing her voice as she continued, "Say...you wouldn't be able to sense anything jusy right now? Nothing that would make good blakm...I mean good gossip?"

It was accurate when Asaraa said she hadn't been broadcasting, but her hearing had alerted her of her approach. Pointing at her feet, Jairdain would still apparently look at her friend. Happiness, shame and a few other emotions passed through her. It had been such a very long time since they had last met and she had been through so much. Having gone through a very dark part of life, she was now coming out of it and wanted to tell her friend.

"You can't hide your steps yet. Not that you have any reason to do that here. Unless you wanted to go try and eavesdrop, I'm not out there feeling around though."

A rather short answer, but not untrue. Her focus was on her friend and her reason for wanting to see her.

"How have things been for you, Asaraa? I heard you have been knighted finally! Congratulations!"

There was joy coming off her as she said that and if Asa could pick up on it at all, then it was all the better. If not, it would show clearly on her face.

"Took me long enough right?"

The newly knighted Jedi stepped further into the room, letting the door swing shut behind her as she perched on the edge of a table, fingers idly tapping out a tune on the surface as her blue eyes glanced down towards her boots A wry smile pulled up the corners of her lips as Asaraa tapped the sole of a boot against the floor. "That simple huh? And here I was thinking you had some really unique force ability you'd picked up, force protection from assassins." The girl lifted her gaze off the floor, resting it on her friend. "Well, it wasn't like I had much choice, when the assembly tells you that you're going to be promoted then you're going to be promoted."

The teenager leaned back, raising a hand to he forehead in a mock-dramatic pose. "Alas, I can feel my youth flitting away from me, the chains or responsibility holding me down. No more to skive off and go swimming in the waterfall." She cracked open an eye and grinned at [member="Jairdain"], "Next they'll be telling me I need to get a Padawan of my own too."

"Time means so very little to me. A few things have changed..."

One skill Jairdain had quickly mastered was that of illusion. It actually went hand in hand with the Force Stealth. A simple adjustment of the light waves around her and her glowing eyes, pointy ears and tail were hidden. Appearing to look the same as she had all along, Asaraa would now see the change in her when that came down.

On her shoulder sat Sage, her Ashlan Wolf who was quite curious as to who her guest was. Running down her arm and across the floor to Asaraa. With the clear body language of an animal, he indicated he wanted to be picked up.

"That is Sage and is my companion."

Chuckling at what her friend was saying, she walked over to her and opened her arms to offer a hug. Many times in life the opportunity was missed for such small things and sometimes a hug was needed. She needed one from her friend.

"Do you want a padawan?"

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

The girl spluttered for a moment as her arms wrapped around [member="Jairdain"], relaxing into the hug. "Me, a Padawan, I'm barely out of the braid myself." The girl's hand reached up to her hair, to the shortened strands which still hadn't grown back after Josh had sliced it off with his lightsaber. She could still remember the smell of burning hair for a moment as she shook her head, "maybe one day, but I can barely look after myself. How'm I supposed to look after someone else and train them?" It was something she'd been struggling with recently, it seemed to be what was expected, but it was something she didn't know she was ready for yet.

Disentangling herself from [member="Jairdain"] the girl knelt down, one hand scooping up the wolf, her hand running through its fur, scritching it as she stood. "So...I mean it's the elephant in the room...what's up with the tail?"

Glad to have the hug and support of her friend, Jairdain gave Asaraa a tight squeeze in return. There might be years of age between them, but they were united by more something very strong. That of friendship and being warriors. She might not be the fighter Asaraa was, but she had a role to play in battle and they worked well together.

Having shared many hours together, Jairdain felt like she was the big sister or even a mother figure to her friend. Not having anybody do that for her, she strove to be the best person she could be around Asaraa.

Chuckling at what Asaraa said, she shrugged her shoulders slightly.

"The time will come when training is natural. You don't need an official padawan to train somebody. Just think of holding a class and offering to train in them. It's where I started when I first arrived and you've been around far longer than I was before I did that."

Luckily the surprise she had for Asaraa was accepted easily and quickly.

"It's a racial thing. I'm not human and it came as a surprise to me. When I was searching for Sage...I changed."

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

"Well...I think a change might be a little bit of an understatement there. It's a giant bushy tail," without thinking the girl's hand inched forward before she caught herself, glancing up at [member="Jairdain"], a look somewhere between amusement and curiosity dancing across her face. "Umm, can I touch it?" She had to stop herself from bouncing in anticipation, it just looked so fluffly.

"You're not wrong it's just...I guess how people can't think about being parents before it happens, that responsibility is a scary thing. I mean I really don't get how you guys do it, to risk so much for people you've never met before. I'd die for my friends but I got to choose them, just like I really get to choose my family, but to have someone assigned to you, to roll the dice and still be willing to risk for them, that's, well that's impressive, isn't it Sage?" The girl grinned and held age up, tilting him forward and backwards so it looked like he was nodding at Jairdain.

She couldn't help but giggle almost like a girl again when Asaraa asked if she could touch her tail and mentioned just how much she had understated the change. Bringing it out from behind her to allow her friend to touch and play with the fur, she laughed at what she did with Sage. The almost indignation coming from him was quite funny, but he tolerated it.

"I've had a few padawans, Asaraa. There have also been those I've given just a lesson or two too."

Giving her a light elbow since her friend was one of them. In a swift movement, Sage wriggled away from Asaraa and was back on Jairdain's shoulder giving her a dirty look. As if he could give a, "humph", he climbed into the pocket there that was built for him.

"None were ever assigned to me though. Have things changed that much?"

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

"No, not really, I don't think that the Assembly would actually force me to take on a Padawan if I didn't want to," the pink-haired girl allowed as her hand dropped, running through the soft fluffy fur of [member="Jairdain"]'s tail. "But that's not how it would happen." Asataa's teeth worked at her lower lip, a nervous habit she'd never been able to quite rid herself off as she let her free hand gesture in the air.

"Everything is voluntary of course, but there is a certain...expectation I guess. I'm a prefect...I was a prefect, I'm not sure how that worked. I was the trainee of the Master of the Order, and I've trained with the best the Order has," a mischievous glance shot in Jairdain's direction, "Including yourself. I've even been given command of missions that involved senior knights and masters. It feels like the Order has plans, no not plans but hopes for me? That if I don't dance to that, live up to that I'd be letting everyone down a little and well," a wry grin touched her lips, "you know me, letting people down is the last thing I'd ever wanna do."

"Nobody within the Order ever had high hopes for me and before then, well none of my people...who I thought were my people, at least had any either. That changed though and now I have a whole different people. It's hard to explain."

Letting out a sigh, her tail moved as Asaraa was petting it. Reaching a hand up to pull her hair back slightly, Jairdain would also reveal two pointed ears. Giving her friend a smile when she said she considered her to be one of the best of the Order, that also revealed two rather sharp canine teeth.

"I remember you being in command of something once when we were together. Very early on in your career too. You'll be fine, Asaraa. Padawan or not. And if you lose the support of the Order for any reason, you have mine."

Far too long females weren't allowed to have power or responsibility. Jairdain was trying to slowly bring about changes in a few places. Close to home and now by giving Asa her support. Her friend was close to her heart and nothing would change that.

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

The newly knighted Jedi offered @Jaridain a thankful grin as she tilted her head to the side, her eyes inevitably drawn to the woman's teeth and ears, her eyebrow arching slightly. "So, with all these...changes," really how do you say finding out you're a completely different species, this was not something normal conversation prepared anyone for. "Do they come with benefit? Like you know, super advanced hearing or anything? Cause that would be cool...wait you don't eat like only meat now do you cause those are some killer teeth and I got to say, meat is great but there's very little that can match up to the pure bliss of a dessert." There was perhaps a very small weakness in the girl's mind when it came to apple pastries in particular. "I'm not worried about the order so much, just mainly worried about the people themselves. Like, what happens if I mess up, I could be the one who drives someone away from the Jedi all together. That's...a lot of responsibility right there."

As if all the questions Asaraa caused it, Jairdain's stomach growled and her hands went to cover it.

"I seem to be hungry almost all the time, crave far more meat than normal and can't touch chocolate at all. Or coffee for that matter, but I never did like that. A nice cup of tea though is perfect. It stinks about the chocolate though."

Twitching her ears, they moved independently of each other and she wagged her tail for her friend.

"Actually yes, my hearing did improve. I'm still blind even if my eyes glow. For those with sight, they might have better night vision or something, I'm not sure."

Even though Asaraa was being serious in what she was saying, Jairdain wanted to reassure her friend. Giving her a large smile, she shook her head at something that was said.

"One person rarely drives a person away, but that choice has many things that go into consideration. It would not be your fault alone."

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

"See, you had me going till the whole chocolate thing, I'm not sure I could live without it." Every species, every person in the galaxy had their own quirks, their own strengths and weaknesses, and that was to be expected and even cherished. However, this weakness, this was a little bit too much, a sure sign of the force's sense of humour, what other explanation could there be? "Well, you always pretty much knew everything going on in the temple anyway, so this would make you like super good at dealing with anyone trying to sneak up on you, or sneak past you..." Asaraa gave the older woman a narrow-eyed look, so can you like hear people's heartbeat or things? Cause I can see how that might be useful when you don't want to use the force." You could always sense someone using the force, but hearing if they were nervous, if they were lying, well that would be a pretty useful tool to have.

[member="Jairdain"]

"But there are so many other kinds of desserts that don't include chocolate!"

There had been a time when Asaraa had tried to sneak up on her. The attempt had failed. Though it had been fun.

"Well, being blind, it was always difficult to sneak around me. You know already had stronger hearing and touch. That reminds me! I can sort of read now. Looking through the eyes of Sage, he can look at pages and writing. So I've started doing that. There is so much out there. It's almost too much for me to take in."

Letting out a sigh, she pet Sage under his chin as she tilted her head to look in his direction. Looking back up at her friend, Jairdain had no idea if she would understand what she meant.

Giving a bit of thought to her question, she shook her head.

"If that is something that can be done, I haven't learned how to do it yet."
