The GS-11 is an odd brutal machine. Excelling in dealing with enemies at a more up close and personal rang. Sometime these droids are called Grass Droids for that when they're in large groups the large "bladed heads" makes them look like tall grass from a far.
One important thing to understand is that the large blade on top of them isn't actually their head, but a tertiary weapon, and is removable. Say their retractable arm blades are broken or dulled, or just need a bigger blade. They can eject and slide the much larger third one from their main body and wield it as a large claymore.
Another thing is that they can also wield other weapons then just the blades built into them. More often then not they'd actually be outfitted with large blasters for range.
