Orihime was working on it to check them all and provide herself with it. There was the sounds of machinery as her mind was focusing on it as the door opened to reveal for them the way through. Orihime was going around as she went to towards the door and opening it up the pathway going down was showing the other reactors they could work with. Sections of it where they were using the ionization reactor to create a small sun that was polarizing the view port as the other sections pull the energy from the mini sun. "This is what they have been making, collectors pull solar energy from the sun here then channel it to make the sun which is siphoned off by the machine here." She was indicating it with a look before she tapped the screen and changed it over to some of the other things they were showing off like the sleg reactor that was channeling and storing the energy from the reactor itself. The power outputs were high... higher then most thought and she could see where they had a grid that wasn't being use. "It looks like they had set up to provide power across the area here and the cities."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel listened intently. She was quick on the uptake and was following Orihime’s explanation. Well, about 90 per cent of it. Conceptually it all made sense but the speed with which Orihime was able to ascertain precisely what was happening was remarkable.

And she realised that even this small reactor had the capability to provide power for a lot more than just a ship – or a building. Cities could be powered through free and clean energy.

“The potential for use is huge – and the facility could be so small. When planets are first colonized, it would be a great way of providing energy for early settlers. A ship carries one of these with it and becomes the hub of the colony’s power.”

Orihime was looking at her with a look of agreement to that. "If that could be done then yes we could power early colonies and areas that will function as different bases we wil be able to work on." She stuck with it though moving around and bringing up more of the information on the power grid itself until she brought up some of the other things. "Assuming it would work and functioned the right ways this could also be used for major cities now to power systems within other ways. For defenses like shields that could protect the planets instead of just powering ships. We can see a lot for ourselves." She was looking over more of it and aside from a power grid they were looking at it for ways to power their ships instead of just fuel. They might have been moving towards faster then light travel to get out of their system possibly which would have added them to the galactic community."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel was fascinated. There was invariably an expectation that progress was linear. That each civilisation discovered faster than light travel along a continuum that was broadly the same as other planets or systems. Yet every now and then, you would chance upon a race that on the face of it was less advanced yet managed to have one key technology that surpassed its logical place in the scheme of things. Here that breakthrough was gifted to them, but it reminded Sorel that you should never take things for granted – or generalise.

“Maybe if they’d got off the planet and out of their system, their civilisation might have been saved.” It was entirely speculation but a valid debating point. Not that it really mattered in practical terms. But historians and scholars would no doubt be greatly interested to investigate the culture’s progress and demise.

"Perhaps, it is a hard thing to say or judge. They might have been able to see what was coming but we can never be sure." She was looking at some of the technology and they really only had one advancement which was their mineral. This ore that they could use to basically get the levels of power other civilizations spent years developing the technology to create. Generating the power needed to work in a city or to power ships when she was moving with some of her attention to the information and grids. Orihime was tapping the controls and after a few more moments there was a sound as the machinery whirred sending power to the other parts of the facility. Sections of the facility outside in the large pit came online and in the cave revealing more of it when it went down deep showing other parts of it. Areas of the cave showed murals and paintings they had made. She was wanting to see what else they could do or get from this area and setup. "The grid is still intact and looks like it is feeding into a large portion of the planet."

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel was impressed. From what had first appeared to her to be a small reactor that powered the ship, they were looking at something that might be powering the majority of the planet they stood on.

“Funny how a crystal or a mineral plus a bit of technology could be so powerful. But to be honest, it’s going above my head now. And given that, should we explore further? The lighting seems safe enough for us to venture further underground.”

It was getting a little over her head as well and she provided a few ideas. "Yes we can go further down, I wonder what they might have discovered or made here in addition to the reactor." Orihime herself was looking at it while she moved from the seat and started walking. To want to see something that they might be able to do with the cool exploring and the door opened revealing the massive opened cave area that was going down into the a cave system. "Maybe it was a volcano long ago?" She was saying it to herself as there was the coolness of it and some snow coming down but they hadn't reached the bottom yet while she could see the pathway going to another section of the ship itself and it went into the mountain. Parts of it having gone through the mountain but not making it break or collapse down. It was connected to an open section of hanger that was obscured from the elements.

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel wasn’t entirely sure they would find anything new, or even exciting. But it made sense to give the whole place a quick view to check if there was anything of note or any potential dangers that others might face if they came here.

“I’m guessing we might find minerals. Or crystals? I’m keen to make sure there is nothing living down there that might be a threat to anyone who follows, or that we might accidentally make extinct if we don’t treat the area with respect.”

"And there is a chance to figure out maybe what kind of ship it was or where it came from. The older ships we can set up and do are an important thing after all and this is from a time not much if known about the species." She was wanting to look at more of it while they were going over towards some of the larger things. Coming down to open the airlock door as it slid andthe lights were coming on. They had a whole bunch of space here to observe and see about things that the world itself was providing them all new chances. She was excited to create an impressive report that her mother would likely be the only one who read but the others would be cool as well. She would be finding some purpose when they entered the ship now that was warm and smelled of old air.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel nodded her understanding. If they could plug one of their datapads into the ship’s computers the translation and handshaking software should give them access to records. Where it came from. What species they were. Why they were here…that sort of thing.

As they entered the ship itself, she was alert once more. Who knew what might be living in the structure or what experiments might have been set up and could be damaged or even booby-trapped. But the Force was not warning her just yet, so she remained vigilant without becoming paranoid.

“The air isn’t moving around very well. Deeper in that might present a problem – given we don’t know what atmosphere was native to the craft’s owners. Rooms might be sealed and full of a gas that is toxic to us or simply too low in oxygen for us to breathe.” With that Sorel took a respirator from her belt. “Better safe than sorry,” she said and held it – ready to put it in place if need be.

Orihime nodded her head in agreement as she grabbed the field rebreather and turning it on there was a small glowrod she could get all of the ship for. Casting it in orange light when she was walking. "Agreed, we don't know what there is or who controlled the ship. we will need to see for ourselves." She well was being careful about the danger but there was the whole thing of wanting to explore and adventure. The two fo them had a great pace for exploring thje planet as she was trying to see the different rooms to maybe get an idea. It was a great place that they were getting to explore as it was far older but you could see that it was more advanced then other things at the time. She was thinking about pre-republic civilizations that might have been in this region of the galaxy and there were a handful that presented to her mind but there could easily have been more when the door slid opened and she was reading the air. "It is mostly oxygen but there is a few other traces gasses. Maybe they were gree, they usually had different atmospheres on their ships.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel was pleased that Orihime threw light onto the area. She could use Force Sight but it was always wiser to conserve her energy in case it was needed later. The orange light made colour vision difficult but it was a small price to pay versus ensuring you didn’t trip or stub your toes.

Sorel was pleased the atmosphere was primarily oxygen. It meant they could breathe it if needed, although the effect of the ‘other’ gases was unknown.

She knew a little of the Gree. Grey, six-tentacled cephalopods with an over-sized head. At least when compared to humans – who they probably thought had skulls that were far too small!

And she knew they tended to wear breathing masks in Type I atmospheres, so she kept her own on – just in case.

“I wonder why they came here of all places? I mean, was this a scouting ship or a trade envoy?”

[member="Orihime Ike"]

[member="Sorel Crieff"]

She was wondering the same thing but it looked like they were getting some more places. She wanted to see a couple of things to hopefully show them where the ship had come from. "Possibly, if it was a scout ship it could have landed or it could have even crashed on the planet. This location it might not have been expecting if they had been working or testing with anti air defenses. They seem advanced enough to have started coming up with the basics for those designs and not many consider impact and slug defenses compared to lasers and ion these days." She couldn't wonder about all of it in the days like this where a galactic super power likely didn't expect that the low tech approach could down one of their ships. "Low tech can sometimes really mess with things for the people." Or they could have come here for trade and something happened while she was checking the doors to see what they had in the cargo hold.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel looked around as she listened to Orihime. It was true that many of the current technologies were focused around similar levels of advancement and ignored what they considered to the sub-standard or inefficient methods.

You can’t jam jungle drums with even the most sophisticated radio jammer and an energy based shield would be largely ineffective against old-fashioned munition. Or the ship might have just got caught up in a blizzard and misjudged the height of the mountain – or not even known that one was here.

“Whatever the reason, they’re here. Unless of course they have some interesting cargo to look at. I just hope it’s not food-stuffs. That would be gross given the time it’s been here.”

Agreed, food would be the worse but they might be abel to find some gree navi computers. THose were still thousands of years more advanced then what the current ones were able to do and paired with a strong hyperdrive it improves how to plot jumps in a way nothing could really rival. That would be one thing to go for and the other well the gree were known for their synthesis or their expansion methods. Orihime herself was walking through the area and she was getting the cargo bay opened. She had met some gree and this ship was far older then most of the things they used. THe doors opened with a hiss and there was the rush of air as she looked at it. The large cargo bay was bare for the most part until she saw what they were doing with it. "THose are assembly arms." She was looking at it and searching for the lights as they came on. The massive area filled with rings that were in various stages of being built as she chuckled. "I know what this is." She said it while looking over the things. "Those are gates, the Gree used them to travel nearly instantly across their space. No ships and you could move millions of people, entire armies even if you set them or have ways to go to worlds and connect them." She was looking at all of it with a grin. "That could be what the ship was doing, bringing gates around the galaxy and setting them up so the rest of the gree could visit or go around."

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel listened and heard Orihime’s logic. And she had another thought. “Or an invasion army. Not that I’m saying they were, but in the wrong hands that is the worst case scenario. And I’d guess they’d work two ways – an army could invade from here to wherever the other end of the gate was!”

She shook her head. “I know I sound like I don’t want progress at times, but in my experience, a lot of what was being created for good would have a catastrophic impact if the technology fell into the wrong hands. Weapons to stun rioters could be used to overcome guards at banks or take out security at government buildings. These gates could allow entire armies to pour into defenceless planets. The consequences don’t bear thinking about.”

[member="Sorel Crieff"]

Orihime was looking at her and gave a nod of her head. There was a lot of benefit and a lot of danger to many of the things, many of the types of technology that was being used. "These gates are smaller then the ones we have seen before. The gree's gates are mostly all destroyed now, just parts on a planet as a remnant of their empire and where it reached.... but they weren't that big on direct invasion. I think from the history they were more into assimilation then overtaking with force. Go to a world, evaluate and then up lift if they found the species could benefit and respect the technology." She was saying that while they had a chance to walk around seeing more of it and there was an area of addresses and how to get them. "It is also what did make them eventually be defeated and die out. They weren't massive military juggernauts like the rakata or human's they weren't well like the kwa or a few of the other species. They were scholars who knew what they were doing and." She continued through the cargo bay as they were getting some of the other things that had been brought in here. "And well from experience and what I have seen their navi computers and ships use a lot of power. More in some cases so the ore on this planet would have been a lot more beneficial to them. If it increases the small amount of power the native species uses with just a little to power a building, imagine a star ships reactor with it. The amount of power we generate alone in our lightsabers with it."

Sorel and Orihime regularly discussed the merits and demerits of technology at the hands of the Sith, or some crime syndicate. Sorel knew she had to temper her caution and allow things to run their natural course instead of constantly worrying about armies of dark siders invading through star gates – or crime lords negating entire security details with a stun ray.

But she knew it would take effort.

So for the present, she focused on the here and now. She listened to Orihime’s extensive knowledge of the Gree and felt a little sorry for a race of scholars who no doubt had grand ideals but lived in a galaxy where that too often counted for nothing.

And she heard Orihime explain how the planet’s ore would significantly increase the efficiency of a unit it was linked to. “It makes you wonder how someone hasn’t pillaged it already.”

[member="Sorel Crieff"]

Hmm now that was a question to think about and she could work to think of it. "Well the location of the system could be one of the main reasons. There is not a lot of things out here that are a massive draw." There was that and likely if it was in any records it was somewhere else as she walked throughout it all leading into the engine room of the ship with a hiss of the door. It showed their engine room, the small but powerful navigational computer that was in charge of it when She walked through. "With everything that has been discovered we have more then enough worlds to spend several lifetimes exploring or searching to learn about everything here."
