STRENGTHS
  • Difficult To Track: The blade, when the crystal is infused into a lightsaber hilt, turns the blade extremely thin, making it extremely difficult for the opposition to properly follow the blade's movements.
  • Dark Emotionally Charged: When the attuned grows more emotionally dark from emotions such as hatred and anger, the blade empowers itself to burn hotter; allowing for it cut through the toughest of metals and materials, including those possessing lightsaber resistance. (This effect is only possible during confrontational scenarios such as combat)
WEAKNESSES
  • Beacon: The crystal, infused into a lightsaber hilt, negates all Force attempts to mask one's signature or nature in the Force. It literally acts like a beacon, drawing attention to anyone who can feel the Force.
  • Short-Circuits: The crystal can cause certain functions of a lightsaber's construct to malfunction. This could be from the basic powering up or powering down of the lightsaber, to simply having the blade simply vanish cause of a malfunctioning emitter.
DESCRIPTION

The crystal, known as Black Heart of Exegol, is a unique crystal formed on the Hon Zduul plateau. The actual construction of the crystal itself is shrouded in mystery and speculation, riddled in many theories. One such theory is the crystals were formed by the constant lightning strikes caused by the static discharges, a result from the dryness of the Exegol mingled with the rubbing of dust particles of the desert. The color of the crystal, black in nature, is said to be the side effect from the constant barrage of the lightning. However, this theory doesn't prove the existence of the effects it produces when infused into a hilt of a lightsaber.

Another theory, more popular in understanding, is the crystals are a by-product from the Sith when they laid waste to the planet. The crystals are dark side in nature, which adds a tint of proof the Sith may have inadvertently fabricated them. Also, there were many dark experiments conducted on Exegol's flora and fauna, from both the Sith and their Loyalists, which leads to the conclusion of the added effects granted to the those attuned to the crystal, and its infusion into a lightsaber hilt.

However, spite the pros of the crystal, there is a downside to them. Most importantly, their ability to disrupt the functions of a lightsaber. If the theory of the lightning creation is true, it would explain the additional electrical energy of the crystal needing to be released. Force abilities such as Force Flash, Ionize, and Force Lightning are well known to disrupt and even destroy both mechanical and electrical devices. The other downside is the attraction it brings. Once infused into a lightsaber and tuned to the individual, it broadcasts the users Force signature and alignment. To some, one might think this is a fatal flaw. To a Sith, or a Dark Side practitioner, it draws potential rivals and enemies out into the light (no pun intended). Regardless of one's view of this, it's undeniable to hide the Force signature.

Darth Noctyss, a female Sith Lord in search for immortality, first discovered the crystals on her exploration of Exegol. Along with her servant, the creature who was once known as Darth Sanguis, began experimenting with the crystals, seeking to unlock their applications. However, she was tricked by her servant and the experiments never were completed. It was the Sith Eternal that finally discovered the crystal's potential, granting them to the creations (like Jin X) to be infused into their lightsabers in the future. An exploration was undertaken to the Hon Zduul plateau by the Sith Eternal to collect the crystal formations, and subsequently relocate them to one of their underground labs; systematically destroying the collective on the plateau.

A terrible event occurred in the lab where the crystals were being housed, subsequently destroying all of them; minus one. The final crystal, assigned to Jin X had been securely stored away; discovered by her during her escape from Exegol. Luckily for her, she possessed the knowledge downloaded into her memory storage unit to attune the crystal to herself. The blade, a by-product of the crystal, is black.
