SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Droid brain (Commander variant only)
  • DMPCA (Commander variant only)
Strengths:
  • Jack of all trades - While each variant has different purposes, they can by and large all perform the same function of being a bog standard droid
  • Independent - To cut back on costs, only the commander model was given an independent droid brain
Weaknesses:
  • Jack of all trades - Will perform significantly worst than droids specialized for tasks. Given the BL-1's purpose of being highly modifiable, if lacks many features that many would consider standard on droids.
  • Dependent - To cut back on costs, the combat droid model and commando droid models are dependent on a central droid computer to run at all. Should it be destroyed, they will be unable to be used until reconfigured.
DESCRIPTION

While not being good at any one particular thing, the BL-1, abbreviation for 'BaseLine-1' is your bog standard run of the mill highly modifiable battle droid (say that three times) for the average consumer, or in this particular case, Jast Shipwright Co. Following a deal between the two companies, Natalie had promised to produce a set of droids capable of being modified to do different tasks. In this case, she managed to do just that without going through the hassle of creating 3 entirely separate droids, with each maintaining the style of the BL-1 with the difference being hardware and software.

The combat droid is the most widely used. It contains a simple mounted hand cannon capable of dealing damage equivalent to your standard blaster rifle. Really the most basic of the three.

The commander droid is next. Meant to pack a punch in a small package, it contains a Z-Protector Cannon, mounted grenade launcher and a thruster jetpack to reach hard to get to locations. While it may seem like this is the 'best' model, it more often than not causes collateral damage due to the nature of its weaponry and should really only be deployed in small groups.

Finally is the commander model. While not containing anything too special apart from the company's trademarked DMPCA, a point defense system, it is primarily used to manage a ship's systems, system maintenance and the like. It is also the only model which contains a droid brain, meaning it is not dependent on a central control computer to operate.

[member="Natalie LaForte"], these are all conceptually solid droids on their own.

These will need separate submissions however, because we're talking about pretty sizable differences in ability and use. Perhaps just as importantly, it does not seem that the same droid is designed to be able to switched from one to the other.
