Intent: To develop a bionic contact lens that can detect heat signatures and electrical impulses in a body
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Aurora Industries
Model: Bionic Thermal and Electrical Imaging Lenses
Affiliation: Open-Market
Modularity: None
Production: Mass-produced
Material: polyethylene terephthalate (for the lens), antenna and power conversion mechanism (to provide power to the scanners), micro thermal and electrical scanners, micro circuits
Description:

Wanting to develop a contact lens that would help soldiers and civilians alike, Taeli and her engineers at Aurora Industries began designing a new bionic lens for the open-market. Made of a polymer known as polyethylene terephthalate that contains the circuitry and is still comfortable for the wearer, the Bionic Thermal and Electrical Imaging Lenses is on the cutting edge of micro scanners.

Using an antenna to pick up on radio signals, these signals are then put through a conversion circuit to provide power to the scanners. The scanners themselves are able to pick up on the heat signatures and electrical signals of a nervous system to track a being (for combat use), or to get a quick look at a being's internal systems to determine problems (medical and civilian use).

The lenses are limited by walls and can only scan things that are in front of the wearer, and the farther away a being, the more power is consumed by the lenses, but they do have one other interesting use. If a Force User is trying to use Force Stealth or another Force technique to be sneaky, the lenses can pick up on them as they do not rely on light waves to detect a being. Force techniques such as a White Current illusion or something can make a being slip away from someone's mind will of course still hide a subject from the scanners.

Please be aware that White Current and various other methods of stealth applied by the force may create an illusion that goes beyond bending light waves.
