Malnora was once one of the Chiss' largest rhydonium facilities in the ascendancy. On the edge of Chiss Space, it saw very little in the way of colonizers save for rhydo prospectors. Its proximity to Schesa and being along the Phalanx Route also made it a frequent stop by both the Chiss Expansionary Fleet and the Chiss Defense Forces as they patrolled the route, seeking to stomp out any war hives that may have made their way down the route into Chiss Space.
After the destruction of Csilla, many of the non-noble survivors fled to the world, in hopes of striking a new rhydo and making it big. As a result, many of the old-time Chiss colonizers and "rhydo-junkies" were displaced by the more wealthy and inexperienced office workers, aides, and housekeepers that were suddenly out of work and looking to strike it big. Having "Rhydo Fever" became a common insult to Chiss hoping to get rich quick and the explosion in workers and colonizers on the planet quickly came to a head when the the Rhydo-Junkies and the Fever-Heads clashed. In the first in what would become a series of firsts, the Expansionary Defense Fleet moved to quell the disturbance. Never before had the Expansionary Fleet moved inside Chiss Space in such a way, but with the Defense Forces still recovering and the Aristocra and Ruling Families in disarray, the Elites of the Ascendancy could only watch as the Expansionary Fleet built a new base and stomped out the infighting.
The combination of a military presence, rapid re-colonization, and old-timer knowledge saw a boom in the rhydo industry on the planet. A large cut went to the Expansionary Fleet's refueling operations above world, but the men and women who worked together created a shockingly effective and lucrative industry, bringing rhydonium back to Malnora. While Naporar became the de-facto HQ for the Defense Force and Expansionary Fleet after the destruction of Csilla, Malnora became the site of the first new Expansionary Fleet base in decades.
