Unlike the near-invisible footprint of Kaysh-Borar on Felucia, Bes Hukaat has walls; low, canyon-faced ramparts of cut stone and salvaged durasteel that read as geological debris from above and bleed into the rockface at ground level. The camp has running power, a functioning smelt, and enough covered capacity to shelter its full workforce and garrison under one roof when the plateau storms roll in. It is not comfortable, and it was never built to be. It was built to work and to hold.
The world above the canyon rim is contested ground. The warrior clans of Ottethan, remnants of the warlord culture that once ruled twelve systems from this planet, still ride rancors across the highland plateau, and they have not extended welcome to any outside presence in living memory. Bes Hukaat does not advertise itself. Its walls face the canyon, not the sky, and its operators leave no mark on the plateau surface. Below the rim, it runs its shifts, ships its cargo, and watches the canyon approaches with the particular patience of people who know that the next raid is a matter of when, not if.

It was those bones that drew the Covenant in. The ferrous ore deposits threading through Ottethan's canyon walls had already been found and mapped by the warlord's engineers; the bore entry points were still flagged with survey markers that had outlasted the men who drove them. The camp that became Bes Hukaat was built partly over and partly out of a derelict Ottethan Empire extraction site; its foundations too solid to abandon, its canyon position too well-chosen to improve upon. The name came with the walls: two words carved above the old site's entry arch in a local clan dialect, translated by the Hearth-Warden's linguist as the iron watch.
The warrior clans noticed the new smoke rising from the canyon within the first season. They came twice in the founding year; once to probe, once in force, and were turned back both times at the canyon narrows before they reached the camp, dozens of their Rancor mounts taken into captivity. The Rampart went up between the first raid and the second. Since then the relationship has settled into a cold standoff: the clans patrol the plateau rim, the Garrison watches the canyon floor, and the rancors that roam the deep canyon territory become prized resources both compete for.
