The creature was so dainty that he'd almost overlooked it entirely.
Poor thing was caught upon the twisting branches of a low bush, where thorny spines waited for prey such as this. One beautiful wing still flapped incessantly, in truth its motion was all that had managed to draw his attention. The other was tucked back, immobile.
As he crouched down and slowly began to remove it from its prison, he realized what it was that now lay cradled within his hands. The small humming peeper. Far more common on the moon of Endor, but certainly not unheard of here on Kegan. So far from the City Circles as he was, it made sense that they would be more abundant. As much as they enjoyed toying with the daydreams of sentients, there was always a risk to be had when existing near such. Birds such as these were highly sought after for their gorgeous plumage, more often caged if discovered than allowed to roam free.
A shame. Truly.
"There we go..." he breathed, as he detangled the last of its feathers and brought it from the shrubbery entirely. With the light of the day's sun upon it he was made aware of its various injuries in full, and could not help but frown in response. As much as he was against caging such, he knew that if he left it in this state it would surely die. As such he brought it with him as he rose back up and continued to assess the situation.
"Let's get you tended to, shall we?"
One stray finger ran against its pink, feathered belly, as he did his best to keep it from increasing in panic. Shock could be fatal to creatures such as this, and that was the last thing he wanted for it...
