Bendak Venskar

Biography

Early Years Bendak Venskar was born on the planet Taris in XXX ABY to a mother, Endris Venskar, in the Lower City in an apartment bloc near Zuldon's Entertainment Bazar located on the equatorial region of the planet. The entertainment bazaar, as the most well-known landmark in the area was not unique to the Lower City, where crime primarily prevailed, and most larger enterprises were run by crime lords or gangs. Growing up, young Bendak never knew his father, which put his mother in a situation where she had to work as a server and sometimes a dancer in Zuldon's Cantina to earn enough credits to make ends meet. Though his early years were difficult, Endris managed to enroll him in a local school and get him a basic education. He was able to continue learning basic skills that he would need through age eight when his mother was forced to send him to help her earn credits to keep their apartment.

As early as four, Bendak began to show an aptitude for technology, specifically droids, and his mother encouraged him to continue developing his talents. At age eight, he went to work for a local merchant who owned a droid repair shop, a Rodian named Chutza. Under Chutza, he was thoroughly educated on repair, construction, and refurbishment of droids and droid components. Bendak would also work on Chutza's swoop bike, which would regularly need repairs as the Rodian was an avid swoop racer. Later, Bendak would often say that those were the happiest years of his life, working in the droid shop. The Venskar Family was poor, but both were very happy. Life would go well until Bendak's thirteenth year.
Years at War Bendak was thirteen years of age when he took the first step down his career path as a hired killer. Zuldon's Chosen, the local crime syndicate that controlled the area, entered a gang war with the Black Vipers, a rival syndicate attempting to dominate swoop betting rings. With Tarisian authorities all but absent from the Lower City, a conflict that would last for two years began. The first target of the Vipers was, of course, Zuldon's sprawling entertainment bazar. It was during the early fighting that Endris Venskar was caught in the crossfire of a surprise attack on the cantina, resulting in her death as well as the death of numerous patrons.

A heartbroken and now destitute Bendak with a desire for vengeance did the only thing he could do to survive, joined Zuldon's Chosen. While Chutza, who had been like a father figure to him, was not initially supportive of his decision, both would eventually join a few months later when a Black Viper strike gang destroyed the droid shop in retaliation for repairing Zuldon droids. Initially droid mechanics, a vengeance driven Bendak began going to the front lines at fourteen, serving primarily as a droid mechanic for the Zuldon's few medical and combat droids.

By the time the conflict ended with a Zuldon victory two years later, fifteen-year-old Bendak had learned the skills he would eventually use as a bounty hunter. Though the syndicates had resources, they were hardly professional armies or planetary governments and by the end of the conflict, he had rebuilt large sections of the seven heavily dated battle droids many times, most of which were held together by his patchwork repairs alone. At this point, both Zuldon's Chosen and the Black Vipers were thoroughly decimated with very few members remaining. Zuldon himself died not long after from a swoop accident and the syndicate slowly fell apart.
Flight from Taris In the years after the conflict, the region fell under the influence of a hutt named Adoza, who absorbed the remains of both Zuldon's Chosen and the Black Vipers. Chutza died two years after the end of the war, when Bendak was seventeen, during an accident with a reactor at a local power facility, where he had been hired to serve as a droid technician. With nowhere to go, Bendak began to use his skills for Adoza the Hutt, serving as hired muscle and repairing the numerous droids that served in the hutt's warehouse for his shipping business. On his eighteenth birthday, he was working in the warehouse alone when a rival gang raided the facility and stole several million credits worth of spices.

Rather than be killed, Bendak fled the warehouse and preserved his own life. This greatly angered his employer, who ordered that Bendak be executed. Rather than face execution, he fled aboard one of Adoza's freighters, which would eventually become the Rakghoul, a Mynock class light freighter, and fled to the Unknown Regions, where he would eventually find the planet Giaca, which he found by winning a secret hyperspace route off another traveller in a bet. Relying on the nearby Shor system for supplies, Bendak took up residence in an abandoned outpost, which he repurposed into a base for himself. With no way to make a living in the remote system and only scattered elements of the criminal world around him, he decided to become a bounty hunter, determining that it allowed more self-protection and a way to make more credits than simply working as a technician.
Bounty Hunting
[TD]
Equipment

Ship Bendak has multiple pieces of equipment he owns that aid him accomplishing his various bounty hunting and assassination jobs. His prized possession is his heavily modified Mynock-class light freighter. Originally stolen from Adoza the Hutt, the vessel was nearly brand new when he initially took it. It sustained damage during his flight from Taris and his subsequent acquisition of a route to Giaca. Initially relying on makeshift repairs to get him by in the early years, Bendak had the ship's external hull fully repaired and overhauled before changing the name to the Rakghoul.

Once the Maji Ironworks shipyard finished with the vessel, Bendak performed his own modifications to the vessel's interior and exterior. The vessel's large cargo bays were subdivided into additional utilitarian rooms which included an armory, a brig, room for a larger shield generator, and a captain's quarters for himself. Initial upgrades to the vessel took several years as Bendak had to raise credits and perform numerous salvage missions to acquire materials from retired and damaged military vessels.

Combat upgrades include an upgraded shield generator, which he salvaged from a damaged military warship of some planet's navy, and two additional belly mounted laser cannons concealed in the hull for defense against boarding. An additional two Model 60 Ordinance Launchers provide more kinetic armament engagement capabilities.

Other modifications are simply to Bendak's own taste. The recreation room was converted into a salon where he can receive wealthy clients and discuss jobs in privacy.
