Padawan
Lumiya never intended to become part of a revolution. Stopping on an unfamiliar world for little more than supplies, she arrives just as peaceful demonstrations erupt in the streets. In the chaos that follows, security forces begin sweeping through the crowds, arresting protesters, journalists, medics, travelers, and innocent bystanders alike. And before she can even explain who she is, Lumiya finds herself loaded onto a prison transport and sentenced without trial to a sprawling labor camp deep within the planet's industrial heartland.
Behind towering walls and electrified fences, thousands of prisoners labor in mines and factories under the watchful eyes of guards who range from brutally loyal to quietly sympathetic. Some inmates dream only of surviving another day, while others are already plotting their escape. Trust is a precious commodity, and every alliance comes with risk. Is the person sharing their rations a future friend or an informant? Is that guard willing to look the other way for the right price, or simply setting a trap?
I'm looking to build this as an open, character-driven story centered on survival, difficult choices, and the slow formation of trust under an oppressive regime. Characters could include: fellow prisoners, guards, administrators, smugglers, corrupt officials, resistance sympathizers, undercover agents, criminal underworld members, bounty hunters, or anyone else whose path might naturally cross the camp. Not everyone has to be good, and not everyone has to be evil. Grey morality and conflicting motivations are encouraged.
The goal isn't simply for the prisoners to escape. It's to explore how people change when hope is rationed, freedom is stolen, and every decision could determine who makes it out alive. Unknown to those trapped behind the walls, however, there may be far more at stake than any of them realize. Sometimes, the most dangerous prison is the one that never stops watching.
If you're interested in political intrigue, tense character interactions, prison breaks, moral dilemmas, espionage, or slow-burn alliances, I'd love to build this story together. Just comment below or send me a message.
