ADVANCED SYSTEMS

STRENGTHS
  • Weapon of Mass Destruction: The Behemoth is loaded down with an assortment of powerful weaponry ranging from turbolasers to gravity well generators, while its most notable and arguably most powerful weapon being the axial proton beam cannon mounted on the uppermost section of the warship's bow. This beam was capable of great feats of destruction, and contained the firepower equivalent of a concentrated turbolaser barrage. The weapon is powered by a combination of dedicated energy generators and kyber crystal focusing arrays, the latter of which was harnessed by excavating crystals on Ilum during the reign of the One Sith.
  • Bulwark: Coupled with the dreadnought's bristling armament, the Behemoth also sported a vast array of defensive capabilities. Molecular shielding absorbed enemy fire to further empower the warship's weapon systems, or could even be rerouted to maintain the shield's integrity; though neither could be achieved simultaneously.
  • A.I. Enhancement: A constant aspect of the Sith Emperor's flagships is the AXIOS Central Artificial Intelligence System designated as Aquila. Previously inhabiting the Ruination and Blade of Fate, Aquila has been reinstalled into the main computer systems of the Behemoth. This reduces the number of required crew members on the Behemoth, and allows for seamless coordination alongside other fleet aspects. Aquila also serves a secondary function as the acting captain of the Behemoth when Carnifex is unavailable.
WEAKNESSES
  • Super-Heavy Beam Cannon Recharge Time: Unlike the rest of the warship's weapons, the beam cannon could only be fired once before the power generators needed to cool down for another shot. This recharge typically took anywhere from one minute to five minutes, depending on how much energy was used to power the blast and how much damage the ship itself had sustained.
  • Slower than Slow: Though possessing twenty-eight aft thrusters, the Behemoth was extraordinarily slow. Most of the interior space was taken up by power generators for the ship's weapons and other assorted technology. A hypothesized tactic was to plot a hyperspace jump in as close to the enemy positions, and then overwhelm them at close range with the Behemoth's destructive weapons.
  • Rear Blind Spot: Like all Imperial Star Destroyers, the Behemoth suffers from a lack of dedicated weaponry on its stern. This means that the Behemoth cannot turn its massive amount of weaponry against any enemy that slips into its blind spot, though it was certainly have escort coverage to minimize the risk of an enemy exploiting that weakness in a battle.
DESCRIPTION

Conceptualization of the Behemoth-class Super Star Dreadnought first began during the waning years of the First Sith Empire. its initial design and function first dictated by the Sith Emperor, Kaine Zambrano, as the first in a line of dreadnoughts that would sweep in to destroy the Republic before it could mount a suitable defense.

Unfortunately, the Republic struck first.

By the time that Dac had fallen, only the framework had been completed over Thule. Fearing that the designs and frame would fall into Republic hands, Kaine and his loyalists relocated the ship's frame to a location deep in the Unknown Regions where it would be kept hidden for another decade.

Work continued to progress on the monstrous warship, albeit at a slow pace. Kaine Zambrano was appointed Voice by the Dark Lord of the One Sith, and with the position came personal oversight of all Sith assets within the Unknown Regions. Zambrano, now known as Vornskr, used these assets to further his own gains outside of the purview of the Empire and the Dark Lord. Primarily he had his agents scour the Unknown Regions, cataloging every world they found that was not logged in any previous galactic record. Those of high mineral and ore content were stripped mined to fuel the construction of the hidden warship.

Kyber crystals were also stolen and excavated from Ilum during this time in preparation for the construction of the warship's primary weapon; a super heavy beam cannon capable of annihilating enemy capital ships.

The last stages of construction took place above the lifeless world of Mord'Rethar in the Court of Bones, nestled deep in the Unknown Regions on the very edge of the galaxy. By now the One Sith Empire had fallen, and the New Sith Empire had risen to replace it. On the eve of the Great Galactic War, Emperor Zambrano recalled his Behemoth from the depths of space to serve as the new flagship of his ever-expanding Imperium.

New developments in advanced beam weaponry allowed the Dark Lord to outfit his nascent dreadnought with a powerful super-heavy beam cannon, which was powered by hypermatter generators housed within the belly of the Behemoth. The energy was transferred along a channel that ran through the ship's dorsal spine, and was launched from an axial mount that granted the weapon greater range than it would if fired from a normal weapon emplacement.
