Was it a retreat?

Yes.

Did Vira understand what a vacation was?

No.

Per usual, she was up long before dawn. Long before the edge of morning. Brunette hair was tugged back into a simple, no nonsense style. Designer shorts and crop-top with thin straps that criss-crossed in the back felt buttery-soft against her pale skin. She'd fired off at least a dozen messages before she'd left her room at the Exchange. Steps took her out of the resort and toward the beachfront.

Her two bodyguards were slacking, though. She'd easily snuck past one who had fallen asleep outside her door.

Amateurs.

It was still dark when her feet hit the sand. But the first ripples of glow from two suns about to breach the horizon began lighting up the air. Waiting for no one, she took off. There was something freeing about being able to run. It was one of the rare moments she felt as though there were no expectations on her shoulders. No one could bother her. She was alone with her thoughts. Alone with the physical limits of her body which she liked to test the boundaries of. She ran for a long time. Longer than usual. Before she realized she should start to head back.

Amber eyes flickering over the water as she went. Decidedly NOT looking for a certain Rezlan.

Rezlan had been out in the water for a while by the time he noticed someone running along the beach.

At first she was only movement against the sand, but as she came closer he recognised Vira. He had hoped she might turn up after what he'd said the night before, though he'd left enough room for her to ignore the invitation if she wanted.

Apparently she hadn't.

Rezlan turned toward shore and swam in, standing once the water became shallow enough. Unlike the night before, he was in swimming trunks, with little else covering him. Certainly no gloves. He pushed his wet hair back with one hand and walked the rest of the way out; the cool morning air caught against the water still running from his shoulders, torso and legs as he crossed onto the sand.

He was smiling by the time he approached her.

"Morning, Ms Halor." His eyes moved over the running clothes for a moment before returning to her eyes. "I was beginning to think I'd been too subtle last night."

The smile stayed, though he made no effort to crowd her path. He crouched and picked up his towel, drying his face and chest before slinging it over one shoulder.

"I thought you might come down for a swim. I hadn't accounted for the run."

Rezlan glanced back along the beach in the direction she had come from.

"How far have you gone?" He looked back to her as he stood up. "You don't strike me as someone who does anything halfway."
