Becoming Complete (Asaraa/Yuroic)

Yuroic wandered around the kitchen in a slight mess. His mind trying to juggle the various things that he wanted to cook for a meal. He had the meat prepared the day before, it took all night to marinate and then cook to perfection. Now was the busy work of vegetables, sauces and anything else he could think of. He wanted this meal to be important and he wanted to do it right. Yuroic was a big fan of cooking, the stress of the night was something he wasn't exactly planning when he decided to cook the meal.

Fortunately, his cooking instincts and some Force help made the job all the more easier. He was able to finish all the cooking in time. He set the plates and made sure the food stayed warm in the ovens he had at low temperatures so as not to overcook the food. He then focused on the dessert, most of which he had done the night before while meat was cooking. He prepped ths cake and decorated it. It wasn't professional, he was sure it was tasty though! Never neat but wholesome was all Yuroic aimed for. He then looked at the time and gulped. He hadn't even changed out of his food stained clothes!

Yuroic raced to his bedroom and changed. Throwing his stained clothes into the wash and showered before redressing in clean clothes. A loose shirt, baggy jeans and a hoodie to keep the cold out. He rushed back into the kitchen, made sure nothing was burnt. It wasn't. Which gave him time to check the message he had sent the day before:

"Hey Asaraa!

I was thinking of cooking a Sunday lunch, its a tradition I heard about while on Nar Shaddaa as a child that I never got to try. Hope you are interested, promise nothing will be burnt and there's something really important that I want to ask you as well.

Hope to see you tomorrow at 12pm, bring your appetite!

Yuroic."

If it hadn't been for the message that Yuroic had sent her yesterday Asaraa was pretty sure that she'd have found her way to the man's suite anyway if the delicious smells drifting down the corridor were any indication of what was going on. She could smell them all the way down the corridor, it was almost like a lure pulling her in. For a moment she stopped to shake her head at the idea, that she was some kind of fish to be pulled along like that, but then it wasn't far wrong. Togruta she might no longer be, but her stomach was still her ruler, especially when it came to meat. The girl took a moment to glance at herself in the window she'd stopped by, using the reflection to examine herself as one hand came up to smooth down her top before she stepped away from the sunlit pane, hand falling forward as a gentle knock tapped on the door. There were bells in Silver's Rest, each apartment had a little button that could be used to alert its occupant of your presence...but really where was the fun in that. A knock was so much more personal, besides it was kinda a signature, and she didn't plan to change now. The pink-haired girl took another deep breath, glancing down at the bottle cradled in her arms. She'd never actually done Sunday dinner before, the temple didn't really differentiate all that much between one day and the other when it came to meals so a night of frantic research had revealed that you were meant to bring gifts, hence a quick trip out of the rest in the morning to pick up a nice bottle of Corellian whiskey. She wasn't sure if ti would work for the meal, but that was the nice thing, it could always be used later.

Yuroic was tasting fhe gravy as he heard a knock on the door. Adding a pinch of salt, he gave a quick stir before opening the door to Asaraa. He beamed a wide smile to his former Padawan, it was always a delight in seeing her. "Ah! Right on time, seems you do have a clock!" Teasing her about being always late to their early morning training. "Well, you look great, come on in." He gestured the girl in as he closed the door behind her. Taking the whisky she had brought, he gave a warm smile. "When did you get paid enough to buy this? I swear, I get the least as a Jedi Knight compared to everyone else... Or maybe I spend it all on other items." He chuckled as he placed the bottle on the table.

"Take a seat Asaraa, we'll eat first then I'll tell you why I invited you today." He called as he headed off to the kitchen once more. He grabbed several dishes of vegetables in his hands and used the Force to carry the rest. Placing all the dishes on the table before he brought out a large Bantha brisket he cooked. "This is everything. Eat as much as you like, there is a dessert as well so you might want to make room for that unless you want to take it back to yours." Yuroic suggested as he took some vegetables and piled them onto his plate. Stomach grumbling in anticipation.

Today was apparently a day for surprises, the food didn't just smell great, it actually tasted amazing too. The girl had eaten Yuroic's cooking before, but that was mostly out in the wilderness eating a fish or whatever they'd managed to catch during one of their training trips. There was a world of difference between what you could produce in the field with basic supplies and what you could make in a fully equipped kitchen and a full spice cabinet, while the meals in the field had been tasty, this was in a different order of magnitude entirely. As the plates settled on the table the pink-haired Jedi closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, just holding it savouring the smell of the food for a moment before she let it go. As she did the meat, vegetables and potatoes all lifted off their plates, guided, as if through some mystical power, the practical realization of a hokey religion, to land neatly on her plate as Asaraa reached for the gravy, blue eyes snapping open to wink playfully at Yuroic, "What can I say, it all smells so good, I couldn't wait." A smile touched her lips, eyes flicking over her plate, "Wait, so you made all this...plus you're making desset...seriously it's not your birthday and I forgot is it...it's not my birthday is it?"

Yuroic shook his head as Asaraa used the Force to grab as many food items as possible onto her quite large plate. He smiled as his former Padawan took in all the smells and aromas of his cooking. Helping herself to his cooking, he started plating his own food up. Giving himself a much larger portion than he would normally, not concerning himself with healthy eating today. Today was for indulging oneself and enjoying good company. He finished plating and poured gravy over his food and tucked in as he listened to the questions that Asaraa asked about the motives behind the meal.

"The desssrt is already made, spent all morning doing this, not going to spend another two hours on the desssrt!" Yuroic chuckled as he spoke before helping himself to another mouthful of vegetables. "No, reason I wanted you here, I guess I might as well ask now. Is." Yuroic paused to swallow his food. "Is, urm, did you want to be my adopted daughter?" Yuroic looked down at his food, while many Padawans and Masters grew close, none really bonded as much as him and Asaraa, at least he thought and he thought of her as his daughter already in so many aspects. Especially when disapproving of Caedyn, no matter how nice he seems.

Grabbing a glass, he took a swig, nervous about her answer as she might not feel that strongly. Or it could be that she wanted to still be connected to her biological family.

There were a myriad of worries that someone was forced to deal with when you visited someone for a meal, what should you wear, what gift should you bring, the usual concerns of any normal person. Someone asking you to be their...this wasn't what she'd class as normal, not at all. The pink-haired girl seemed to freeze in place, force suspended in the air, halfway to her mouth as gravy dripped unheeded onto her plate. "Whaaaa..." Her brain was working, her lips were moving but she didn't seem to make any intelligible words come out. She'd probably misheard right? it took just one glance at Yuroic to see that she hadn't, the nervousness that seemed to be boiling off him. It was, well sweet in a way, but well..."Does this mean I get 18 years of backdated birthday presents?" The girl let her fork drop down onto her plate as she offered the man a smile, in the end, there was only really one answer to the question, only ever could be. He'd been the first person who had gone out of his way to help her, and even in the depth if his...issues and recovery he'd always kept an eye out for doing the important things like deciding to head into the woods for a manly bout of showing off with her boyfriend. She'd never expected the two of them to...well end up getting on so well. Blue eyes flicked down to the tabletop for a moment what she'd like to do would be to throw herself across the table, but then the food was a little too good to waste like that, so instead the table had to move, sliding across to the side so she could give Yuroic a grin across the empty space now between them, "This is where we hug right?" She didn't exactly know how a family was supposed to work, this was all just winging it as she went along.

Yuroic watched as Asaraa attempted to digest the question he asked. He was nervous about her reaction until she demanded to know about presents for the last 18 years, Yuroic chuckled loudly and shook his head. "Well, sadly, I ain't made of credits Asaraa haha!" Yuroic smirked as he was glad that Asaraa seemed to be eager as he was, even if he wasn't showing it. When she moved to table to create space for her to hug him, Yuroic shook his head with a wide smiling. "Can I assume this means yes then?" Yuroic asked as Asaraa didn't say if she did or didn't. He allowed her to hug him, holding her tightly as he patted her back gently. It was good to have all his memories back, he loved Asaraa deeply and was determined to keep her safe, no matter what.

While he was far from perfect but he wanted to be the best father for Asaraa he could be. Yuroic broke the hug after awhile, using the Force to move the table back in place so that Asaraa could get back to eating. Yuroic smiled warmly as he took another mouthful of food.

"I think that you can probably take this as a yes," the girl agreed, spearing another chunk of meat with her fork, waving it at the man sitting across from her with a grin, "just don't think we're done with the present conversation although," the girl smirked waving the fork up and down at the man, "this is a pretty good start on that. You're good for at least a year or two's presents here so, you're off to a good start." It wasn't like she didn't plan to make the most of teasing him about this whole thing, it was how she'd have fun with him.

Yuroic let off a sigh of relief, hearing that she was saying yes it was good to hear. He smiled widely as he tucked back into his meal as well, listening to Asaraa attempt to tease him about buying her presents. This was clearly something that Asaraa would not be dropping any time soon. It was amusing for now but he was sure that Asaraa wouldn't push it too much going forward, looking over to her. "Well, I'm sure dessert will take another 2 years off." Yuroic smirked to her as he finished his meal with a hearty burp.

Leaning back, he watched Asaraa feeling very happy with the way they were now a family, something that both of them seemed to have felt for awhile anyway now. "Hm, well did you want some dessert now or later?" He asked as he started using the Force to move his plate and the plenty bowls and dishes to the dishwasher.

"Oh you are are you?"

A smirk played across Asaraa's lips as she leaned back in her chair, flicking the spoon up off the table, twirling the utensil between her fingers as she grinned at...well at her dad. That name still had that new car feeling to it as she ran it around her mind, trying it out as she grinned happily.

"I mean, if you think it's that good then bring it out and I'll be the judge of that for you...but if it's not as good as you think does that mean that you're going to add 2 years to the list?"

It wouldn't be her if she didn't ask and just needle him a little bit about it, that was half the fun of any kind of interaction that they had, ever since day one.

Watching the smirk play across Asaraa's face, Yuroic couldn't help but follow suit and smirk in return. "I think either it will be a really good dessert or you will never shut up about the fact that I served you a sub-par dessert for the rest of my life. So I think 2 years is fair either way." Yuroic chuckled deeply, as he poked his tongue out teasingly at Asaraa. Standing he grabbed the cake, it was a fairly large chocolate fudge cake, he had used a recipe to make it and it seemed this was for a much larger family than the two of them but he knew Asaraa would do her best to eat it all.

Placing the cake down, Yuroic winked to Asaraa. "So, here it is, a chocolate fudge cake. All baked by ya old man." He chuckled, he was still getting use to the idea that he was her father now, not just her mentor who acted as one. Slicing a hearty size of the cake for her. He sat down and cut a small slice for himself. "So what do we think? And no lying just because you want more presents!" Yuroic poked his tongue out at her, predicting her answer.

The girl tapped her finger on the table, one of the small forks floating into the air, almost dancing through the air, cutting a waltz in space as Asaraa waited for a moment before reaching out to pluck the fork out of the air, twirling it through her fingers before she used it to cut into the cake. All joking aside baking was serious business and she wasn't going to mess around with this...her reputation as a connoisseur of baked goods was on the line. She couldn't mess about with this.

A small bite of the dark cake ended up skewered on the tip of the dessert fork, as she peered at the cake carefully before biting on it slowly, chewing on it, savouring every bite. "Not bad, not bad but it could use a little more whisking to really get the batter fluffy and light." A playful smirk tugged up the corner of hte girl's lips as she tilted her head to the side, "You did ask me to be honest."
