Discussion Be the change - A new faction perhaps?

Unfortunately, I missed the 100th post, so I get to be #101

What makes a good faction isn't necessarily the concept, but the story.

There have been a million Mando factions, so what makes a good Mando faction? not the fact that you nailed down the perfect kind of mando, or you figured out which was the right one -- it's the story that you create. I talk mandos because I predominantly write mandos, but that goes for pretty much any concept. There have been a TON of faction concepts, hundreds of your republics, empires, Jedi, Sith, and at least a couple attempts at pretty much anything else on the board.

A super refined faction concept or uber unique isn't necessary, just a faction with a story to tell. That can go hand in hand with a unique concept or a generic one. So it's not mutually exclusive, but I would say a faction with a story to tell is probably the most important thing for me when I look at new or existing factions.

A good example is the Sith Covenant, because they became a major faction alongside another major Sith faction. Why have two Sith factions? I wasn't around the board during their initial rise to power, but I've been able to read their stories, and they've written some really long, cohesive narratives about their characters, their rise to power, their adventures, etc. Sith Covenant came with a story to tell.

I'll always appreciate factions like the above for what they bring to the board. AND if you want to make a major faction, bring a cool new story to the board too!
