Culture:
Much like the Mongolian steppe herdsman and other nomadic peoples, those whom dwell on the world have crafted a similar culture. Rather than having permanent housings, cities or villages; they live in highly nomadic bands that follow the seasons to tend to their herds. Males are expected to spend the vast majority of their day watching over the various herd animals that each tribe cares for, while women are expected to care for the home. To this point their culture revers women; with the highest reverence upon those whom have become mothers. As a whole they are Bayan; however they are also separated into tribal denominations, which may cause a being whom hails from the world to introduce themselves as a Bayan Khitai or a Bayan Kalyk.

While there are multiple family groups each with their own surnames and minor tribal groups; they all fall into one of the four overarching tribal designation. Each overarching tribal designation have their own subtle variations of the overall Bayan culture; while many of these subtle variations likewise have given birth to differences within the smaller tribal groups and family lines. Thus making explaining every subtle variation troublesome and problematic. The primary cultural designations are broken into their primary focuses, which are; Tribe, Family, Religion, The Herd, and Passage. As a whole the Bayan Culture focuses on those five primary attributes, which binds the peoples together.

  • The Tribe is above all else; meaning that members of the tribe are expected to act in the best interest of the Tribe before their own interest.
  • The Family Strengthens the Tribe; meaning that the actions of the family affect the tribe. A strong family leads to be a strong tribe.
  • Religion guides; meaning that one should look towards the deities and ancestral spirits for guidance when one is lost.
  • The Herd brings life; meaning that it is the Tribe's and Family's herd animals that bring them all things. Life, nourishment, shelter and happiness.
  • Passage; meaning that those whom have proven themselves as adults shall be treated and shall act as such.

Technology: Limited Hyperspace Technology

History:
Discovered near the end of the Old Republic; it was relatively left untouched and otherwise ignored during the Clone Wars. It was not until the end of the conflict and the rise of the Empire did settlers begin to settle in an attempt to hide or otherwise avoid the Empire. Due to its status as a backwater planet, and previous scanning showing little in the way of mineral wealth; it was left to its own devices. Thus it became more of an agricultural world than anything else. However it didn't have the same amount of technology or needs as others. In fact, the world itself was overlooked by many others due to much more well known Agriworlds that churned out much more product than Bayan. The settlers though preferred their quite life and only went so far as to construct Bayan Port; which was the original settlement.

Over the years the people began to develop into their own culture; forsaking a static lifestyle and leaving Bayan Port in the hands of those whom preferred such a living. The Port itself was thus left to a handful of Bayan peoples and the small minority of immigrated alien species that traveled to the world for a quieter life. The planet sat quietly in its little corner of the galaxy, nearly forgotten as it was left untouched by the following conflicts that gripped the galaxy. The Rebellion, the Vong Wars, etc etc, never seemed to reach the world unless it was in the form of a news drop which was often very rare.

It even seemed that the Gulag Virus left the world untouched; though to the more observant, they would realize that the virus had even reached this little piece of paradise. The virus caused a drastic drop in the local populace and nearly left the Bayan culture extinct. Now the port is left undermanned and the population of the Bayan people is beginning to rise once more.

Intent:
Bayan was invented to provide a new and open agriworld that hasn't been touched by companies or other galactic events. Likewise it was crafted to serve as the homeworld for a new character; as well as creating a culture subsection of humans with a more nomadic people whom are less dependent on technology. With the vast majority of Star Wars being tech focused; it is my personal belief that sometimes it is nice to have a world out in the Outer Rim with nearly no technology just to relax on. That is the primary intent of this submission; to provide for a unique experience within the overall canon and setting of Star Wars.

@Your Shakou

So...

Add oceans to the primary terrain. If the planet already has them (judging by the image, it does), it should be mentioned. If it doesn't, they have to be added.

Change the affiliation from "None" to "Independent" or something similar.

Otherwise, it seems quite good to me. :)
