Estimated Population: One Million

Diet: Meat

Communication: Roars, Chirps, Body Language

Culture: When the first Shadow King began his reign, the discovery of the animals was brought with fear as many of them would kill the people of Eclipstica, and run rampant in the small villages that dotted the world's habitable places. But as the throne was passed on to king to king, they soon studied these beasts, and found them capable of understanding basic speech, and would later find them capable of being domesticated by training them to obey, and recognize their masters. Each race is only little from height, and appearance, all can co exist with one another with some form of harmony. They hunt in packs with a Alpha Male, and Female. Their rate if birth depends on the number of eggs laid by each female. First the alpha male mates with the females, then the rest of the males may begin mating behind him.
When the last king came to the throne, he utilized these creatures as war mounts, finding them to impressive beasts to be seen on top of, riding into the heat of battle. Their loyalty was also unable to be reversed once given a master. This made them a even better war mount.

Technology level: Standard saddles can be mounted on them, along with armor

General behavior: As stated above, they hunt in packs, and all races can at some extent live together in some form of harmony, with one Alpha male, and one Alpha female. The alpha male is given to the females first during mating seasons, then the other males behind him. They are protective over their nests, and will see anything near the nests that is not supposed to be there as a threat. They must eat large meals of meat every ten hours a day that sizes up to their weight. Depending on the race depends on how big the meal. When given a master, they become docile to that master, allowing them to be petted by said master, and ridden. They will act much like a dog would, and are capable of understanding commands in basic.

History: These creatures have existed in this planet since before the Shadow Empire rose upon it. When the first king finally came into contact with one these beasts, it nearly killed him, and thus decided to be dangerous, the history with the Empire would continue to be a aggressive, and dangerous one up till the fourth king, would find them to be capable of being tamed. By providing one of the Battle Lizards one day with a meal, as if to give a peace offering, and continuing to do so every ten hours as his study had shown they would eat, the creature after the fifth day, began to be less weary of the king, and more comfortable with the king's presence. In a period of ten days, the creature would allow the king to touch it, and pay him no mind as he ate. Within a month, the creature had become completely docile to the king, and had even begun to understand Basic, though only the most basic words like sit, come, and good boy.
What became more interesting was that if one could indeed tame a Alpha male, along with a Alpha female, which takes twice the amount of time to do two months for the male, two months for the female totalling four months), then one could easily obtain a pack of battle lizards, as they would see the said master as the a member of the pack, even to go as far as a Alpha male.
People of interests in beginning training of one of these creatures should be weary that it is a dangerous task, wearing a new cologne around them can cause them to react aggressively as they would recognize your new scent, also very fast, and sudden movements can startle them into defending themselves.
It wasnt till the last king came that were used in wars. The last king would apply mounts to their backs, and ride them into battle, using their claws, and teeth to rip his enemies apart. This was shown to give them a more aggressive attribute to others than their masters.

Notable Player-Characters: None

Intent: To produce a tamable, and mountable beast for the board, and give the planet Eclipstica a way to be more interactive with the galaxy.

Small Brains - Their intellect is limited, needing a master to act upon commands.
Then how do they/did they survive in the wild? Surely there's not a million of these in your kennels- meaning most of thema re in the wild. If they can't do anything without commands, how do they survive? Probably a good idea to take this out, just say they're tamable, and have a new weakness. Preferabbly a physical one, like a weak spot. Do correct me if i'm wrong.

Also, what do you mean by 'understand basic speech'? If you mean like a dog does with commands, they don't actually know what, say, the word 'sit' means, they associated the traininer's sounds with commands. It's possible to teach a dog to sit when you say spaghetti. You probably already know that, but the way you worded things in culture made it sound like you can just walk to a wild one, say 'sit', and they'll know what you mean. Just re-word that and you're good. :p Sorry for nitpicking.

ld found them to be capable of being tamed. By providing one of the Battle Lizards one day with a meal, as if to give a peace offering, and continuing to do so every ten days as his study had shown they would eat, the creature after the fifth day, began to nuzzle the king, and become gently playful with the man.

It's not even that quick with domestic dogs, let alone wild ones. Five days? So a prey animal could accidently trip his friend while running five days in a row, causing the lizard to eat his friends, and the lizard will become best friends with it? That's an exxaggerated example, of course, but you get my point. :p

The main problem I see is I want more information on the training, how they're trained, how well they can be trained, etc- with limits. It dosen't amke sense for an apex predator dinosaur to be tamed like a puppy in five days, nor that easily. Ecspecially animals that are so terratorial they kill anything tha tocmes near their nest. There's potential for abuse in how easy they're trained. THink about it this way; if it's so easy to train them, then everyone could be riding dinosaurs. Just put more description into the training capbilities, processes, etc, and don't make theme asier to tame then kittens and you're probably good to go. :D

As to answer your question about basic speech, its given what it means, I say like dogs cause its the best example, they know what Sit, Role Over, and etc would mean, they understand Basic.

As for the training, I have given a more detailed description, making it a month to actually tame one fully, and went as far as to make it double for a Alpha male, or female.

As for the tiny brain things, YEAAA I didnt think that one through...I changed it to Meat Eaters, so that they are dangerous and not to be messed with by the rookie adventurer.

The training is still not enough for you, please tell me what you believe would help make it better. as I am not much of a dog person so I dont know specifically what it takes to train a animal, specifically a T-Rex.

Alright. So you made it that they learn basic from whoever teaches them? WHat if the trainer dosnet teach them? What about other languages? If these things can fullyunderstand basic, do they understand what all of it means? I.E Koko the gorilla who could carry on ocnversations with humans via sign language.

"Meat Eater - Because the animals are apex predators, this makes them very dangerous, and not recommended for the least experienced adventurers to tackle on alone."

This is a strength... XD A weakness is something that hampers a species negatively, not somthing that hampers others trying to tame or fight said species. :p

Training's more realistic now, you might wantt o point out how dangerous it is though. Even after the ten day period there's a very large chance something like this will decide to make it's trainer desert after the hunk of meat.

Edits made, hope you like the new addidtions,
as for the languages, they understand Basic, and Vahla fuly as Romeo, and much of the people on the planet speak both or one of the languages, they have potential to learn other languages though.
And examples have been given the dangers of training one of them

Weakness
Cold Blooded
That was too easy right?

They understand full sentences, will chirp, or roar in response, or change their body language to react as response.
Yep... these are officially sentient. XD Barely, but still.

Cold blooded's a good weakness, since they don't habve blaster-proof hide or anything. :)

Everything looks good, other then the fact that you've prett much made them sentient. (Sort of)

Basically your describing their sencience is like a Rancor's, who tell stories to eachother, have their own language, and imo should be considered sentient (barely). So if this is your intention, add a bit more about the species' culture/general behavior and you're good.

Otherwise, drop the communication back to they udnerstand commands and keep them semi-sentient, and you're good. :)
