Developed for and originally fielded by the post-First Order military of Bakura, the BAR-58 Blaster Pistol is a locally-designed and manufactured sidearm that differs significantly from most common military sidearm designs. Emphasizing accuracy and ergonomics, the BAR-58 is a lightweight, well-balanced sidearm featuring a sleek, elegant design, manufactured with a high degree of precision more akin to a competition blaster than a military sidearm, also being equipped with an optical sight as factory standard.
All of these features make the BAR-58 a remarkably accurate blaster pistol, however one that suffers from a noticeably lower stopping power than other military sidearms, an intentional design choice intended to reduce recoil, as well as a steep purchasing price. Its adoption by the Bakuran military, especially during the economic crisis following the collapse of the First Order, has caused a bit of a stir amongst the local population, with speculations of corruption running rampant throughout the local press at the time.
With the brutal annexation of Bakura by the Eternal Empire and the dissolution of its armed forces, which have since then been replaced with an Imperial-controlled Settlement Defense Force, a large number of Bakuran military equipment has ended up in the hands of the Eclipse Rebellion, including a signifficant stock of BAR-58 blaster pistols. The weapon is also still available for purchase on the civilian market, which has allowed the rebels to increase their stockpiles of these sidearms through purchase via third parties, as well as ending up in the hands of various other organizations such as the Black Suns.
