Those engineers then developed the B2-D6, using historical documentation of the D-60, a Variant of the Super Battle Droid that was present at the Battle of Geonosis, at the very beginning of the Clone Wars. The purpose, like the other environmental based droids, was meant to inhabit, defend, and attack any desert planets that may need to be taken over

- Due to the now sealed joints in some areas, the droid is not as mobile, meaning it moves slower, making it an easier target to snipe from a distance.
- The Motion Detectors do not work in the middle of sandstorms, meaning an enemy battalion could sneak by a patrol detail of the B2-D6 if they went under the cover of a Sandstorm.
